We can talk talent all day. It's what is between JA's ears that is the problem. Plus hearing how great Bill Bedenbaugh is, is wearing a little thin. I don't care how many he puts in the NFL at OU we need a Joe Moore trophy not a single first round draft choice. Hawkins look poised, confident and efficient with the ball. Three things Arnold was not.
Hawkins just proved that Littrell is NOT the problem. Same players, same plays, same OL but look at the difference in results. If Hawkins had played the entire game, we would have probably won. Having stars by your name doesn’t impress the opponent.
You have to play with the team that you have not the team you wish you had. Littrell needs figure that out and quick. OU's offense doesn't need to be elite, they just need to be good enough to take advantage of what the elite defense gives them. Arnold's turnovers cost OU dearly, giving the ball back immediately after getting a turnover on the opposition's 5 yard line was bad but at least that one was a case of getting the ball stripped. The throw into triple coverage and the skipped lateral were inexcusable. Hawkins was the better QB for OU last night and I would say he is the better choice going forward. So far as Arnold transferring and playing well elsewhere goes we know that if you can pressure him he turns into a deer in your headlights.
If Mike Hawkins is not starting, OU is not serious about winning. My question to Our Coaches, what has you done for us lately? The defense is very good
Probably, but I think they needed a definitive and undeniable reason to pull Arnold. I’m typically not one to call for a player to be benched or a coach be fired after a few games of struggling. However, by the second turnover last night, I was saying it was probably time to get Hawkins warmed up. By the 3rd, I don’t think there was any question in most people’s minds, that Arnold isn’t up for the task.
Disagree with that, I think that’s actually some of the problem we are in. Instead of building up our own talent we been getting to many out of transfer portal that only have year or 2 left that only bandaid on it. If u can build up recruits u are bringing in and they can give u 3 to 4 years is they way to go. Look how many dudes we got out of transfer portal that haven’t even played. I think of 6 that haven’t seen field and are hold up scholarship spots
@@andrewfencl1102 I agree with that too. I’ve always hated the strategy of getting 5th and 6th year guys outta the portal who are already regressing. But Oklahoma seems to only get guys with experience from the portal they think they can develop (i.e Gareian Hatchett, Spencer Brown, Michael Tarquin). They don’t always go after talent guys, and you need talent especially in the SEC. Can get away with it in the B12, not the sec. Now get five Febechi Nwaiwus outta the portal, talented guys with time still left, or someone like lance heard, and you’ll be good
It amazes me people forget that the receiving corps is depleted and people expect greatness from WR’s. Burks can’t do it all. If we had Anderson, Farouq, Anthony, and Gibson, we “might” be viewing this differently. The WR’s they are playing now wouldn’t have seen the field this year but all the experience ones excluding Burks are hurt. I do agree that we missed badly on offensive linemen.
Nepotism hiring by BV on offense has been devastating. The malpractice on offense and player development is program wide. This arrogance by the OC is galling.
Offense needs at lot work also I ain’t mad they lost most every ou fan knows we are going to lose some games this year. Would liked for them to win yes but they didn’t get blown out and we finally came to conclusion that Arnold might not be it. I think his talented but he got get of his own way and play with confidence
NIL money 💰 spent on him is the only justification I can think of because based off talent and heart wise Hawkins jr looks leaps and bounds ahead of Arnold because these coaches aren’t dumb by any means or possibly someone else could be pulling the strings behind the scenes
Watched Mike play every game in 2 years at Allen. Including a head to head with JA a couple years ago. If you want the pure talent QB, you let JA figure it out. If you want an athlete with great arm and legs, but needs time to process reads and will go very hot and cold at times (if he doesn’t have good protection), go with Mike. If OU doesn’t have the personel and needs a QB that will scramble to make plays, Mike is the guy. But that comes with a catch - sometimes, he gets into these scrambling situations, when they didn’t need to be if he simply made a quicker read… I’m not sure Mike is a QB that will lead you to a national championship, unless a LOT of pieces fall into place, but make no mistake, if he didn’t want to be a Sooner so bad, he would easily be starting at another high caliber university. Both guys are really good. And it’s kinda wild OU got both of them.
Jackson looked horrible out there .. Mike is a freshman and once the game slows down his reads will get faster .. Jackson had a year to figure I out . If Mike doing better stick with him
He can’t figure it out because he doesn’t have the mental capacity. It’s been four games and he seems to have regressed. Unfortunately, we don’t have time for JA to “figure it out”.
Hawkins has been the better QB since fall camp. Get a few lineman healthy with Hawkins running the show and I actually feel pretty good going forward. The Bye week can’t get here soon enough
MHJ is the only solution to a weak and totally out of sync offense. JA is not ready and doesn’t have the confidence or decision making abilities. We’ll lose all but one game remaining if JA is out there again.
JA and BV both should be replaced. JA just isn't ready for college ball I don't care what he did in high school he just doesn't have it. Brent can't manage the clock muchless what the team is doing. Multiple times last year and again Saturday night he let's time run off instead of giving his team a chance. Almost two minutes ran off and go into halftime with unused timeouts???????BV like JA just isn't ready for the top job.
Coach B is the weakest most highly thought of coach in college football his Oline is horrible and has been for years years his players his transfer Smitty three year and his Oline is the worst in the SEC

Great unbiased analysis. Thanks gentlemen!
This should have happened 3 games ago. BOOMER
Probably, but I think they needed a definitive and undeniable reason to pull Arnold.

Oklahoma needs to open the bag next transfer portal. O-line, WRs, whatever Oklahoma can get
Disagree with that, I think that’s actually some of the problem we are in. YES !!!! LIKE YESTERDAY

Looks like the Spencer rattler/caleb Williams switch from a few years back lol 😅
How can our quarterback choice be so wrong for a second time one right after the other?!
NIL money 💰 spent on him is the only justification I can think of because based off talent and heart wise Hawkins jr looks leaps and bounds ahead of Arnold because these coaches aren’t dumb by any means or possibly someone else could be pulling the strings behind the scenes
Venables Michael Hawkins our new QB

If the O-line doesn't get better we need a scrambler. Hopefully he can learn to make higher level reads.
He can’t figure it out because he doesn’t have the mental capacity. It’s been four games and he seems to have regressed. Unfortunately, we don’t have time for JA to “figure it out”.
with a D as good as OU is they can play field position with hawkins and win a lot of games
Is this a real question? Hell yes.
simple answer: Yes just based off of effort.
not going to get any easier with most of the remaining games left on the schedule. enjoy the $EC.
Hawkins has been the better QB since fall camp. Get a few lineman healthy with Hawkins running the show and I actually feel pretty good going forward. The Bye week can’t get here soon enough
JA wiffed on every read option play...not fun to watch
MHJ is the only solution to a weak and totally out of sync offense. JA is not ready and doesn’t have the confidence or decision making abilities. We’ll lose all but one game remaining if JA is out there again.
Potentially being the guy? For Fcks Sake, who else can do anything?
Is it our QB or offensive play calls? Why are they switching OL every game?
switching O Line because of injuries
Hawkins is way better than Arnold
Ou fan here hawkins gots more ability to extend plays and gots more moxie, and the moment didnt seam to big for him
JA and BV both should be replaced. JA just isn't ready for college ball I don't care what he did in high school he just doesn't have it. Brent can't manage the clock muchless what the team is doing. Don’t forget he is responsible for a stellar defense - just saying
The rumor all summer was that Hawkins was the best QB in camp.
It doesn’t matter, OU will win 6 or 7 games
Coach B is the weakest most highly thought of coach in college football his Oline is horrible and has been for years years his players his transfer Smitty three year and his Oline is the worst in the SEC
You should take a remedial English course.
