  • Get your Cubase streaming!
Be a great idea to watch this on your phone as the audio may cut it if you are watching on your main system.

    Good Luck!
A note from one of our Discord Producers R3Ya
How I got cubase in the live stream option of discord
Somebody told me you can stream cubase in a discord live stream when you use an fl studio asio driver. That's working but the performance suffers a lot.
I am using the standard asio driver matching my interface in cubase. I can still use the interface as an input for vb audio app without a penalty and the (not so well working) fl driver gets to be the output of this virtual mixer. (causing little to no harm there)
With this setup i stream the virtual mixer app, and boom i have the sound from cubase in the discord live stream. (without issues with my performance, so everything works just fine in cubase)
The drawback is, in the stream you only see the virtual vb programm. To compensate that I use obs as a virtual camera input in discord. And obs does the screen capture part. (and i can use full obs functionality for my screen capture while it runs in the camera input channel.)
Running a Discord stream like that is sometimes a bit confusing for people who don't know it. But they can ask if they are interested and its easy to figure out. (And its nicer then using the voice channel in my opinion. I did that when I made musik with people who took part in doing it on discord. And even then i gave them the option to turn it off the whole time)
Anyway... Windows audio drivers seem to be a bit tricky. They caused a couple of crashes when i abused them to much, so I connected a second interfaces to my computer. Its basically just a casual 2 channel interface, and I use it for my microphone. Or to be precise it is used by discord (or other apps) as an input and an output. While the output of this interface is routed in two input channels of my main interface. And that one is connected to all my audio devices and to cubase.
That way i can hang out with people who are into music production on discord, while mixing or doing other stuff and share what I am doing. So they can choose to listen to what it or they can do their own thing, or listen to others.
Its a complicated setup, and most of the people i met so far just used fl studio. It does not seem to be an issue for them since the driver still works with discord. But since i did not want to buy it. And i already had everything for what I am doing now. So it came down to some research and a lot of try and error.
The really bad part in going this way is that you need different drivers for your daw, the vb output, and for discord. You should allow somewhere in windows that multiple apps can use your audio drivers (since vb audio and cubase kind of share inputs), but its still important to have something separate for discord (since connecting to much stuff to one interface at least in my case will cause weird shit to happen and stuff to crash in all sorts of unpleasant ways) and that got me to the point where the best way was using the second interface.
It still does crash sometimes when i close cubase, and i have not fully figured out in witch order i have to close my applications to avoid that. But i´ll get there. At least i can predict those crashes now, so i am usually prepared and i am getting better in avoiding them.
And hey you see why using the pc monitor as an output was an option here. (the pre second interface struggle) You need something as an output for discord while you cause harm to your computer in different ways so its less boring to do. And that way i thought you can use your speakers and the monitor but i did not like it too. So i did something to get away from that point pretty much instantly.:) That kinda got me to the solution that i am using now.
But hey! Thank you again, and i hope explaining my journey (took me a couple of evenings to get through) was interesting to see for others with similar intentions in mind.
And there might be an easier way but this one worked for me so far.

Thank you for the Tutorial. After several trials and fails (with echo) I finally succeeded. Any Idea How to Send a Cubase project to discord and have in the same time input from instruments threw Audio Interface? If I switch to Voice meter Virtual Asio, I cannot have inputs anymore.

For anyone who routes all these things correctly but Discord still is being weird, make sure you turn off echo cancellation and the Krisp noise suppression in the Discord settings under the inputs and outputs section in Discord. It will try to mute your audio because it thinks it is noise, works fine now after this last step. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks for the good tutorial!
However, I just followed all your steps and Cubase just acts up and doesn't give me any sound at all anymore. Not on my headphones, not on the voicemeter, not on Discord. I don't even see the sound in the mix console anymore. I checked everything I did, even played around to maybe find a solution but just couldn't. Do you maybe know how to solve that?

First of all thanks for sharing this as I've been looking for something like this for many months so my partner and I can mix music together.
    But I have 3 problems:
-Your Voicemeeter has A1, A2 and A3 but mine has only A1 and A2, how to enable the 3rd one? In both input and output.
-After configurating all, my partner says that he can hear me and my Cubase, but both with a robotic and annoying effect, so he can't even understand what I'm saying or what is being played.
-I can't hear my partner by discord, how to configure this?
    Thanks again.

Sorry for the late reply mate, if this is still an issue jump into the discord I can help you out .... Based on the A1 A2 and lacking A3 are you sure you have banana and not v1?

    • @ursdavidkrin2335
      @ursdavidkrin2335 ปีที่แล้ว

I had the same issues as you. First make sure you open the banana version of voicemeeter("Voicemeeter Banana" - I had multiple versions installed although I have clicked on banana versions in the webpage). Then, make sure the routing is correct (the sound of your interface shouldn't go back to the interface, that's why you sound robotic - fix that by highlighting/un-highlighting a1,a2... on the right side of the faders in banana version ).
