How To Take Care of Baby Ducks | OUR NEW DUCKLINGS

  • We added baby ducks to our little farm! After going to the feed store to buy hay for the goats and alpacas, we heard the tweeting of the baby chicks and ducks, only to pick out six little ducks to come home with us.
Having raised 19 chickens last year, we were always planning on doing ducks at some point!
For those who might not know, duck eggs are larger than chicken eggs and we think they taste even better!
Come for the duck information, stay for the slow-motion duck content!

Ducks are awesome. The entertainment value alone is priceless.
We had our ducks and chickens together.. with guineas too. I had them swimming at 3 days old in a warm water, baking pan bath.
As for the mess.. it also helps to keep the food away from the water.

They are so fun and cute, but they are still scared of us! Excited to see them grow!

@@BellaandNikola mine really never got over the skittish thing..though there were a couple I could hold in my lap, once I caught them. Those two ducks had manners.. if they needed to do a duck squirt.. they'd wiggle and let me know. Not a chicken.. they have no respect for a lap.
Right around 4 and a half.. 5 weeks, they get to what I call the dinosaur duck stage.. tiny wings. stomping around like little raptors.. with bills. I had a variety of light color and white ones.. easier to see, for me, if they get a booboo.

Hello, my name is Aniabas and I am a Bird-o-holic. I'm a first time chicken mom this year (8 full sized + 4 bantam = Chicken math) and I just got 4 ducklings today! So I I think I've moved into Flock Algebra now
