Contemporary Dance for Diploma in Dance Students in LASALLE College of the Arts taught by Vincent Yong.
Students here do a smorgasbord of courses including mask work, stage combat, wushu, silat, history, acting skills etc....
Contemporary dance is introduced in the 2nd year and Ballet is taught as basic in the first and they have the class once a week.
Dance is taught in a functional and scientific approach to improve efficiency and cut down the time in training through coaching methods and training pedagogy.
Objectives are:
1) to get the students to be aware of their bodies and minds for an improved performance overall.
2) to allow them to understand that dance is more than just the bodies.
3) to guide their integration of performance concept into dance and dance back to their other subjects in the course and training.
