As someone who abused smoke all the time in mixed arms games, I can totally see the value of LA smoke. It just needs to conceal your teammates icons when the enemy radar is down, but let your own team see through it. A quick cooldown will also put the pressure on the enemy to find and eliminate the jackass smoking their flag. It’s exactly the kind of saboteur playstyle that’s becoming of light offense. Speaking of… timed sticky mines! As someone who played a lot of Infiltrator in Ascend, we’re in dire need of this! Basically what the medium armor can equip right now but for light armor. A remote detonated charge could also be neat, if only to differentiate it more from the medium version.
I really agree with your take on not nerfing the stealth camo because that sort of freedom and versatility in playstyle is something unique and to be celebrated in Tribes, not reigned back in favor of adhering to the masses
Slowdowns, losing control, being stunned, locked down, is almost always unfun. CC should always be extremely limited in pvp settings because of how rage inducing it can be. Damage fields or something like an EMP cloud that disables phase seem workable.
ELF gun from t2 was a perfect balance. Had to be within some range of enemies and you drained their energy. That's about it as far as cc should go in tribes imo.
Somewhere along the lines we forgot that Tribes games already had other short-fuse grenades that were useful: Whiteout, Concussion, Flare (which could be adapted to distract turrets if no rocket launcher is added). Smoke and EMP grenades are left in this perpetually near-worthless state. Their effects are minimal and the fuse time is WAY too long. It's usually not even worth the opportunity cost of the throwing animation and switching back to primary.
If nothing else, they REALLY need to make the fuse times on the grenades near-instant. The medium nades are useless because no one stands still long enough for the huge fuse time... Agree that they should be introducing more interesting, wacky ideas now so we can play around with them!
Instead of being just a smoke grenade, it comes with thunder that hits your jetpack and drains a bit of energy out of it. This has the effect of slowing down player that cannot follow you immediately and has an impact on weapons that are based on energy.
I've seen people attempt to use smokes when the flag (or bomb) was dropped on the ground and they were trying to interfere with people picking it up... In theory this is actually a fun, potentially interesting interaction. The problem is Tribes maps are big and people move a lot. I think a bigger smoke cloud would actually be really cool.
@@GoodJobDino Make the radius bigger, but hide everything in it to both enemy radar and your oponents. Your teamate and you are unacffected Then the radius would slowly shrink until it disapears. So they can't see flags or players inside. You could add a symbol at the top of the hud to say that the current flag position is being disrupted and thus cannot be shown on the hud/map.
I think the game needs to be sectioned in Tribes Pros and Tribes Casuals, to be noobified for the common people so it can succeed Since most people will be frustrated and stop playing the game We need gamemodes or Choices to play the game in "Super Easy Mode"
I know they had a grapple, but what about a harpoon gun for chasers, that can do little or no damage but on a direct hit, grabs onto and pulls you towards, or with the capper? Dumb?
Interesting. How is the Stealth pack different than in T2 and Ascend? It was powerful, but capping in it was not easy. I used to use it on Generator offense/defense, but usually because nobody else was. It was powerful and useful, but not OP. The game isn't "blow up the generator," after all.
@@GoodJobDino couldn't you back then? I remember it sucked up your jetpack fuel like crazy, and without the Jump Pack, there wasn't a ton of fuel to begin with. I used them both a lot, and felt they were both really great. I'd miss one while wearing the other. Hehe How much of this would be fixed by the Devs going back and playing T2? 😆
Diggin the t3 content, cant wait for the full release! Just a heads up, the discord invite was invalid, was trying to join but says it might be expired.

I like this!

There's no game like this, have to keep it special.

That makes sense.

Smoke is a legit idea, but it should be a continuous smoke trail that a capper can leave behind for a few seconds to disrupt chasers.

Absolutely! I only recently tried T2 and was surprised and delighted at the amount of tools that the series didn't continue with.
Really enjoying insightful videos on the new Tribes. You probably the only youtuber with regular videos at the moment
Appreciated! Doing what I can to keep people interested and ready for wider release.

That's a great point. I forgot about the energy nade on mediums for exactly that reason. It sounds interesting but is too difficult to actually use.
Annihilation base building would be much appreciated...

That's actually really interesting. It still makes you wonder if it's worth carrying over conc grenade unfortunately.

Or make it a gas grenade that damages inside and gives you a small dot after leaving

Not at all!

The impression I've gotten from feedback is that in this game you just go stealth for a couple seconds regardless of the speed you're going.

I appreciate the heads up on that!
This issue should be resolved now. Thank you again!
