    for 2017 the cx5 no longer has the 2.0 engine and the 2.5 got a slight upgrade to 187hp

      Luke Hoisington No 2.5L turbo for CX-5! Only the 11 year old 2.2L diesel in the 4th quarter!

      @LukeO-1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HW2800 no turbo in the cx5 that's the cx9 that has a turbo

    •  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      HW2800 Engines of the CX-5 are not 11 years old! They were newly developed by Mazda (Skyactiv technology) and introduced with the first CX-5. I drive the CX-5 with the 2.2 Diesel (175 PS, 420 Nm) and this is the best engine for this vehicle.

      Jürg Hölzle Hard to figure out what engine Mazda is using but it might be the diesel they developed for Ford called: SH 2.2 SKYACTIV-D. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Diesel_engine

    •  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know, when the 2.2. Diesel was shown the first time. But It was for sale from 2012/2013 on with the first CX-5. The 2017 Diesel (for the USA) is based on this engine.

    Thanks Dave, I have been doing the same type of side by side comparisons for years on paper. I actually own a 2013 Mazda CX-5 Sport 2.0 6 speed (I had originally considered a Ford Escape, but dodged that 10 recall vehicle). My Cx-5 is not powerful, but handles great and gets good mpg(my 5th Mazda starting with Protege, Tribute, Mazda3, Mazda6). I added an aftermarket sunroof and leather seats that makes it look even better. After 5 years, I am considering the 2017 Grand Touring.

    Why, in 2017, do we not get keyless entry, pushbutton start, navigation as standard features on all models? I also want to take a moment to bitch about warranties - in general, not just to Mazda. I want a 6 year, 160k km, comprehensive warranty, for nothing. I was able to get 220,000 km's out of a 1995 Honda Accord, driven with no real care, stored outside in a Canadian climate - not a single solitary problem. No rust, sold in one day to a very happy buyer. If I could get that kind of reliability from a car built 23 years ago, I don't think it's wrong to ask for something close to that now. Consumers deserve this. If you don't warranty your car for that long from the factory, you're trying to get one past us. When Tesla perfects the electric market, you'll be wishing you did. Stand by your products and don't withhold tech features like they're somehow exclusive or expensive. They're neither.

    About the interior space difference, it's all about how they shape the inside, and also there's difference in measuring methods. Personally, I'd go for the CX-5 after it updates its infotainment system.

      @herrdoktorknowitall 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      why? ford sync is horrible.

    • @rogerthat24
      @rogerthat24 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not say I would go with the Escape. To be fair, I heard the Ford Sync 3 has improved quite a bit since the last gen, though.

    • @jerryjohnson67
      @jerryjohnson67 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The added interior space is part of the new Sky Active Technology. Mazda is using a super light and super strong tensile steel so they are able to use less material on the frames and sub frames less bracing to keep it as or more rigid than the competitors. Hence the Curb weight is down as well s the fuel economy goes up.

    you can still get the 2.0L but only in the Sport Trim and only equipped with manual transmission. the 2.5 is also 187, not 185. also the CX-5 GT base is $31'500 but can have a premium package that gives you a real heads up display, heated windshield, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and memory seats and that will come to $33,490.

    In addition to interior space, listing the payload would be very beneficial as well.

    Why did you call it a 2017 CX5 you are not comparing a 2017. More like a 2016 or 2016.5

  • @diehardAMD
    @diehardAMD 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    In reference to your numbers: The Ford Escape is less efficient and has a higher capacity gas tank. In an effort to not sacrifice on cargo space with seats up, they sacrificed passenger volume. The gas tank is usually on the under carriage of the back half of the car. So, adjust the back for the larger tank and move passenger area up to maintain the same cargo storage and remain numerically competitive.

    Please compare the 2017 CX-5 vs. the Subaru Forester. I'm looking to make a purchase and I'm stuck at this decision.

    If I were to suggest a new stat for comparison, it would be Turning Radius/Diameter. It'd be nice to see how adgile the cars are when space and agility matters.

    Dave, you could maybe add a feature component because every car has something special that makes the ride more fun.

  • @TheQuickyouknow
    @TheQuickyouknow 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The Ford has a lot more technology than the Mazda. The escape has things you can't get on the Mazda like the panoramic sunroof, cooled seats, and all those automated features.

    •  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      TheQuickyouknow Mazda don't has panorama sunroofs because they put too much weight high in the vehicle and reduce the headroom. They look great, but I really don't miss them here in Thailand. It is too hot. But I miss cooled seats, even it isn't a big matter. The aircon cools done the vehicle very fast.

    Great segment.
    In the future, could you do this with more than just two vehicles?
    Also, can you include 0-60 and 50-70 mph times?
    Thanks.

    The cargo size also depends on the height of the car & how the rear slopes. need ro include those numbers.

    WHAAAAT THE PRICE?? in Italy (well, In All Europe) the new CX5 start from 34.000 euro and the full optional cost 48.000... same price of the Bmw X3...
    Mazda is sold like a Premium Brand here (and in my opinion is the correct placement, just look the design and the interior, are better than my Bmw X3)

    Please do a difference between mazda cx5 vs bmw x1

    • @maxazoff9824
      @maxazoff9824 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vinoth Babu. Why compare these two? They are in completely different classes. The BMW X1 is a subcompact luxury crossover, while the Mazda CX-5 is a compact non-luxury crossover. Additionally, because of this, the price points are very different. If anything, the BMW should be compared to something like the Mercedes-Benz GLA250, the Audi Q3, or the Infiniti QX30.

    Is Mazda still using the ford transmission? Or did they stop using ford parts since they broke up?

    • @chrisguzman4633
      @chrisguzman4633 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Teighlour Swyftte It no longer has any parts from Ford. Mazda bought back the percentage that Ford is owned and is now an independent Japanese company

    • @GaryKetchum808
      @GaryKetchum808 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm aware that they're independent, i was just wondering because they could've reverse engineered the ford tranny if they wanted to back then.

    what about 2017 ford edge vs 2017 nissan murano? which would you prefer? i live in new york.

    • @eatonuter7113
      @eatonuter7113 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that if you have a long commute, but want better fuel economy, then the Ford Edge. If you're chauffering stuff or people, then the Nissan Murano would work. I think that the Edge is probably better because of fuel efficiency, off-road capability, and space. My family purchased a 2016 Murano AWD six months ago and I have some complaints such as small leg space on the front passenger side as well as the backseat. Also, fuel economy isn't that great and the engine lags a little. I think that the Ford Edge might be a better choice.

    • @NitsedFTW
      @NitsedFTW 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Teighlour Swyftte why do you say that? I prefer the 5.7 v8 that comes in the Tahoe but I don't have much exposure to expeditions.

    • @eatonuter7113
      @eatonuter7113 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wait for the 2018 Expedition, you might like it more than the current gen! The Tahoe's 5.7L v8 is a great engine and all, but I think that a comparison could work.

    You should get rid of curb weight and wheelbase because nobody cares about either of those. You should add 0 to 60 and safety features.( What's standard and what's optional)
