Thanks for your review… I have a large running Brittany that I tone like you under normal use… my fear is that if he decides to take off after a deer I may need to stim. Based on what you know how hard is it to switch on the fly?
I was having some issues with my young dog and was having to swap between stim and tone. It uses the toggle to do so, and I've got big fingers. The toggle is very sensitive, so it actually switches a little too easy. Also the train button on the controller could be a little more tactile in my view. It's the one complaint I have. Screen switching button on the opposite side is raised and easily depressed. The train button is flush and less tactile when being depressed. The tracking, battery life, simplicity and size are exactly what I'm wanting in a GPS collar. The buttons and toggle could use a bit of refining.
My Arrow compass is a little off I do live on a Power line so maybe that's it. If so I can collaborate the compass somewhere else that's open. Other than that I love it everything else works good haven't hunted with it yet but hopefully soon.
I bet it substantially affects range, I believe the max range on these is 9 miles. My dogs are never that far, but for coon hunters I suspect it's important.
Mine works, I know because I had the one dog set to “treed” accidentally and kept laughing when I’d see it. The refresh time (that might not be the right term, but how often it pings satellite) might be your issue. Especially if your dogs are repositioning bc of moving birds.
Oooph, I don’t use it in real time, I’ll have to check. I rarely follow up with the explore app, mainly because I’m not real concerned about stats. (I use OnX for most of my sat view research)
I can't stand having things hanging around my neck when hunting, so lanyards are out for me. I use the the ring and clip it to the side of my vest. But, I don't hunt like a lot of other people. I like to watch the dogs hunt, so I keep them in visual range most of the time. I'm using the GPS as a safety new more than anything. I don't want to rely on it as something I cannot hunt without.
@@UltimateUpland Awesome I feel the same way about the lanyards. I just put it in a pouch dedicated for it. The company final rise said to look out for the new alpha 10 pouch coming out soon so that’s what I’m waiting on. Ha ha.
That's exactly the way I intend to use it. I hunt grouse and woodcock in the U.P of Michigan and near the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota. But my dog hunts fairly close and I use a bell or beeper. I use gps tracking as a precaution against a lost dog situation or if she is on point in a thick section out of sight. This Alpha 10 is really all I need. @@UltimateUpland
I don't normally use that function, but I just saw it on the remote the other day. If I remember right, it's buried in one of the menus somewhere. I'll grab my collars and see if I can find out.
I just tried it, if you toggle into a specific dog/ collar then toggle to edit, collar light is the first option and then if you click the toggle it offers options from blinking to continuous. Click the toggle on whichever you want (worked on mine without issue).
@@UltimateUpland thanks for the response . I got it to work a day ago I would toggle the switch and the function wouldn’t work I need to plug it into my computer for an update and then it worked !
I love pairing it to my watch
I try to avoid that, don’t want to make electronics habitual in my hunts

Thanks for review! What brand is your vest?
That's the Orvis Pro Series Vest
@@UltimateUpland thanks
Great review. Does this require a monthly subscription?
No subscription needed for the Alpha 10

Interesting question here, if you were to remove the “whip” antenna how much would it kill the power of the tracking?

Hello. How loud is the on point alert at the transmitter and how often?? Thanks!
Good question, we hunt silent so I’ve always had it on vibrate. Next time I power up the collars I’ll check.
what are your experiences when asking for point dogs..mine does not inform me when dogbis on point...seems to slow...

Does Garmin explore have satellite view connected to alpha 10??

Curious what vest are you using?
Tested a ton and I've been running the Orvis Pro Series for a number of years now. Thanks for the question and for watching, Corrie.
Does this device give you a “point” notification?
It will do both point or treed, I have it set to vibrate, so it’s silent for us.
Hello.Does try on field point notificatioIs it acurate?
Have you found a lanyard you like for the alpha 10 that you can recommend

Will this alpha 10 tell you how many miles you walked that day or your dog !?
Both.
Alpha 10 will give me these information OR Garmin explore??
