I think you just found the pattern my great grandmother used to make the bedspread my grandmother always had as her pride and joy on her guest bedroom bed.! It was a double bed, and we always had wash our hands, to fold it down very carefully before we took a nap (my sister and I). We both wanted to inherit it, as did my three girl cousins, so my grandma left it to my brother, her only grandson. Wise woman. I always wanted to recreate it, so thank you for making it available! Both great grandma and grandma are long passed, so I am delighted to finally know the name of the pattern, Friendship! It is incredibly beautiful as a spread! She made it in an antique white color, not quite ivory, not quite white, even when new. Sweet memories.
The thing with these kind of squares. They make a pretty pattern of designs individually. But when they are joined together, they make more patterns like a mosaic. You don’t get the full effect until there are at least 4 squares joined together.
"It wasn't the pattern, it was me!" 🤣 If you ever decide to do merch, you should make a t-shirt with a graphic of your favorite/most-hilarious crochet fail with the text: Is it the pattern or is it me?
Every time I look at a crochet pattern, I think of you! They are all a mystery to me! I’m English, but I like to use US terminology, it’s so much easier to stick to one type of stitch, you can’t go wrong that way! Love to watch your videos, I think you are so talented and very encouraging, even to we oldies! Thank You! ❤❤
I was *dying* at the repeat of row 6 with the popcorns on the corners! I adore your mystery patterns so much and I've learnt so much about reading patterns from you! I've started attempting to follow more difficult patterns because you've inspired me! Just gotta take it one step at a time and I'll get there :) Thanks so much for fantastic content as always
oh I just love it .. soo beautiful. Coincidently I was crocheting popcorns while watching the video - yes, I watch crochet vids while I crochet 😂😂. My pattern tells you to crochet into the gap next to the popcorn and not the stitch on the very top of the popcorn (the chain st) so while you were trying to figure out where to place the stitch here I was tapping my laptop screen and telling you " no, not there, put it on the side Corinna, yes there you go", my little dawg, very confused, looking around the room to see who I was talking to 😁😁. These mystery patterns are like watching a thriller action movie for me 😂😂 xx
My signature pattern is one from this era. Similar to this. I’ve been doing it since I was in high school in the late 60’s. Done in thread and making squares with popcorns and clusters in the corners. The book I got it from was for a bedspread. I made it into a poncho. Took me about 3 years. But I’ve used the pattern in yarn to make pillows and blankets and purses and tank tops in all kinds of thread and yarn. I plan to make an actual bedspread in thread before I die.
I am feeling so sick atm (gastro or something). Laying in bed and relaxing to this video is helping. You are just so calming I can not put my finger on it. Thank you so much! ❤
This is lovely! I'm working on a newish project (a revisited pattern for a fan-based blanket) as I watch you. Hubs comes in and asks if I'm working on the same project you are. "Nope. Her's is a vintage mystery pattern and we don't know how it's going to turn out. I'm making another afghan." "How do you not get confused when she's counting *her* stitches while you are counting *yours* ?" "I don't know, I just don't get confused." Now I'm second guessing my counts and taking much longer to remember what I'm doing next on my project. Like forgetting how to breathe. Danggit! 🤣
I always drop everything when you upload to watch! Especially the Mystery Patterns! It’s safe to say I’m a bit obsessed with Vintage Crochet! As always, well done! Ok, about to watch the vid!😊 PS - I LOVE the long vids!
Oh, yes, this is a good one. I made a sample of a block really similar, and it contained a crocheted border with a coordinating pattern. This is my favorite style of crochet bedspread patterns... i would love to make one for myself!
I love it when you say "It happens to us all..." because it seriously DOES, we're just not being filmed when we do it! Honestly, it's a little bit tutorial, a little bit "I Love Lucy," and I'm here for it! And yes, Rosemary's thread is SO pretty! I thought it was brown in the ball but when you worked with it it looked gold - so appropriate for a vintage crochet pattern, for sure! Thank you for this one. Super pretty. Just like you!
I just found your channel and hooked up with it allready 😁. Loved the square with the popcorns. Have one baby blanket with almost the same thing from the trifth store! Its on my Silver cross Pram. I’m a collector for vintage baby stuff. Loved the baby ‘wig’ also. At the moment I’m knitting a baby romper but when I’m finished i’ll try the hat. ❤ from Holland. 🧶👋
Wow, the popcorn stitches really make this pattern pop! 😅 I say it really adds a beautiful dimension and texture. Excellent job on this interesting piece.
If step 2 days to popcorn then 2dc and to repeat 6 more times. That puts you at 7 popcorn stitches. Plus after you do the repeat, you add one more. That makes 8. So I think that's correct.
Making this now in Hobby Lobby Soft Secret color Burgundy. It's a slick soft yarn that feels cool against my skin and doesn't get tangled in my hair or cause snarls. We shall see if that slickness is an issue with keeping it in place. I don't think it will be, but you never know when you have fine straight hair what will stay in/on and what just slides out/off. I've used the same yarn to make scrunchies with and it worked fine as long as I was using a tight wrap. That stitch is much like my favorite blanket stitch (double crochet three together) with the two-way stretch and the subtle texture. Works great for solid or variegated yarns without being too plain or too busy and produces a nice medium weight fabric, obviously depending on the yarn used. For making smaller items the single crochet together is perfect! This turban looks good on you! Might want to make one in a color similar to your haircolor? I find having one near my own color works good for days I'm not making a statement with my hat, just looks like my hair from afar. Or maybe that's just me. Regardless, I think you have the features for a nice short do. I'm excited to hear about your plans for your new hairstyle! I went "short" several years ago and have been pleased. My idea of short hair for me is about mid-shoulder blade, or really anything shorter than waist-length. My hair has always been waist length or longer, so that was a big change for me. I don't like how I look with hair much shorter, so there isn't really much hope I'll ever willingly go shorter than this. I no longer wear wigs, so maybe I'd change my mind if I did. I know hair is important to most of us ladies. It makes it harder on us as Nature takes its course and as we age. Hair is not the only hurdle to maintaining one's self esteem while we age. It puts us in an almost impossible position, does it not? The fine line between aging "gracefully" and looking like we've "given up" isn't even well-defined, and certainly is subjective. How far must we go to maintain the semblance of youth that seems to be the standard of beauty? And is it not dishonest to try so hard? Is it a "cheat" to use the products and have the procedures and slather on the chemicals that are supposed to arrest or reverse natural aging? O M G Such deep thoughts! I don't know that I have the time and the energy anymore to think about this stuff, much less do all the things. I'd run out of time and resources to pursue what I really want to do with my life if I did all the things. And realistically, I doubt even ALL the things would make me look 30/40/50 again. I'll just spend my last 20/30/40 years (one can hope!) doing as much as I can to remain healthy and free, to spend time with loved ones, and to do little happy things. If people see an old lady when they meet me, so be it. After they speak to me a moment, I can only hope they begin to see more in me than my age. Oh my! Such a treatise! Had fun starting this pattern. Sending you warmest regards and best wishes.
OMG I was watching your video and after 50 min remembered where I saw this before.... it was the coverlet my grandma had on her twin bed when she was in her 80s.... it was white and had.been used and washed for years but the square and bobbles were the same!
Love love love this. Yep… love when you pick out my next project. Appreciate you as always. Hope you had a lovely day out adventuring other day. 😂😂it wasn’t the pattern.. it was me😂😂 thought these instructions were fairly well written compared to the 1800 ones 🧡
I don't jump forward through the video. My mom has a blanket that was made from granny squares that looks a whole lot like this pattern. I think my grandmother made it. I think she called it a daisy something or another.
That block is beautiful! I have long wanted to make a crochet spread for my bed, however, I have dogs and they are not compatible with lacy things. Thanks for sharing with us!
I LOVE your videos. I also want to learn Irish crochet. I have a tension problem with the thinner yarns though…😢 you give me confidence! I will practice! Thank you for being so great!😊
Hi! Love the patience you have to try over and over again. If I can't get it I find myself putting it away so that I won't find myself giving up. You have helped me to try any again. 😄 I will giving it a try. God bless you for bringing some fun into our home.
That would make a gorgeous bedspread, shawl !! I bet you could figure out how to make flat ones to go in between …….the ideas are endless M! Love the pattern --bet you could do it in thicker yarn and it would be beautiful !!!
I love u so much, Corinna. You seem so authentic. You send out good vibes. If you can't figure out the patterns EXACTLY, you let us know and I like the "subtitutions" you apply. You obviously have a lot of experience in crochet. As a beginner, I like that there is an option to tweak certain patters
I love this pattern. So very lovely. ❤ PS. Just finished watching to the end and am so pleased you've made it available to purchase in your Etsy shop. Thank you very much. ❤
I like to do pattern like this and turn them into a poncho or a jacket or kind of...this looks very pretty. I really adore you patients. Thank you for taking us along.
One of the prettiest yet, even without blocking! Took me 15 years, but I knitted a counterpane with 3d motifs like that and am glad now that I didn't try to keep track of how much cotton I used. I'm not sure I would have attempted it. I enjoy hearing your thought process as you go along.
Absolutely gorgeous. How amazing it would be to have the time to make this bedspread, or make into a tablecloth. Maybe one day, so I'm saving to my playlist. Thank you for sharing!
I had to buy this, thinking I'm off to get some cotton now. I've never seen a popcorn stitch done that way and have always struggled to get the bump on the right side without turning. I'm so happy, thank you.
I actually caught that first mistake but you wouldn't listen me 😁 then as you kept going I thought well that might have been edited and I didn't see you do the second dc. But ya didn't 😉
I fixed where I was supposed to work 2 dc ( in the corner ) and I only worked 1, I went back and fixed it , and where I was supposed to work 3 dc in the corner, I only worked 2, but went back and fixed it
Oh wow! What a blast from my past. I'm UK based & this looks exactly like a bedspread from a magazine called Golden Hands. i began making it around 1975 ish? I bought boxes & boxes of cotton to do the whole project 😊... As a WIP it moved house with me and still unifinished i finally donated all the yarn, pattern and completed squares to a charity shop in 1988 when i moved onto my dream boat as i no longer had room for it! Amazing! So love your channel.
Well done. That's beautiful. I've just watched until the end .... and it's not the same pattern... just similar! Great job! I'm sure it will be popular.
This pattern is so beautiful and so much work, at least this time it wasn't so confusing 😂 I could never do this. I really love your videos 🩷everything you do it's so cute, this squares could be a beautiful tablecloth, I don't have the patience, unfortunately 💔
You nailed this one! It truly is beautiful. You amaze me with your ability to see your work ahead of time or as you’re doing it. You have the ability read a pattern as a whole and not just in parts. I admire that as patterns have always been very difficult for me. Great job!
I would say if you did this, it could make a lovely tablecloth, but some stitches should be modified (no bumpies). Thin enough thread not sure I could do this without a lot of pain!
LOVE THIS!!! What a beautiful square!!! And I love the additional detail addd by joining squares! Four together would be very pretty as a pullow top. Great job Corrina! Thank you for sharing yet another of your excellent tutorial. The thread was purchased new two or three years ago. I bought it online but don't remember the seller.
Thank you so much for watching! Please hit the " Like" button above if you did like the pattern and Subscribe for Tutorials like this and more! :)

You read so far ahead and then remember it all! It’s amazing!
I’ve been binge watching your channel all day. What I love about the mystery patterns is that it’s teaching me how to read a written pattern. ❤
My kids woke up this morning and wanted to watch ScoobyDoo. Then I found your video 😅 Must be the perfect day for a MYSTERY
:)
The thing with these kind of squares. They make a pretty pattern of designs individually. But when they are joined together, they make more patterns like a mosaic. You don’t get the full effect until there are at least 4 squares joined together.
Imagine doing that in a 3 weight yarn, it would be huge, but, you wouldn't need as many squares, lol 😂

I really love these bedspread squares
The possibilities are endless for what you could do with this one, table cloth, bedspread, curtains….. ect. Pretty. God bless ❤🙏
So true! :)
Fancy! Good Job! My hat is off to anyone with enough fortitude to make the entire bedspread! I love it!
Ooohhh this is a long one lemme settle in 🥰

I absolutely love these mystery vintage crochet patterns they are so beautiful you keep it real that's why I love your video's so very very much

I worked last night and I was telling my work partner all about this channel and he was going home to tell his girlfriend and mother about you.
oh how awesome :)
That is incredible! Can you imagine a tote bag? Or a cardigan? Or a tablecloth? Or a curtain?

Wow, the popcorn stitches really make this pattern pop! 😅 I say it really adds a beautiful dimension and texture. Excellent job on this interesting piece.
At first I thought the first set of bobbles would make a different pattern with joining squares but this works up to be a larger motif. I love it!
You did an excellent job. This is a stunning block design. Love it. So thrilled you are making a memory block album. Awesome
Thank you so much!
That color thread is so perfect for Vintage, it looks like it was tea dyed.
I really liked this pattern. I like to make this type of pattern with a picture and no instructions. That is how my Mom taught me to crochet.
OMG I LOVE THIS ❤️ 😍 I could see this done in a 4 ply yarn too
❤ beautiful,, always wanted to do a bedcover,, but scared it being such a long project I won’t finish,, But,, this. Beautiful.. As me thinking..👍
Hi it looks like a very fancy granny square, take care have a wonderful day CW from Ireland 😊 its very pretty
Thank you! 😊
Just love your videos. I am starting a crochet circle at my house in a few weeks .and everyone coming has watched your videos.
Wonderful!
This sounds like a great time
I would use a worsted weight and make 12 squares, making a 3x4 blanket. A cream or maybe a celery color.
I really loved this one, it's all about the symmetry. I wonder if in a thick yarn it could be a lapghan? ❤
I think so :)
Gorgeous! Cannot imagine doing a bedspread.
This is gorgeous. I can’t imagine working with the small hook.
Only on round 5 and I really like it!
That was a cool tutorial. Love the square using that type of thread definitely makes it look antique. Great job Corinne
Thanks so much!
That's the exact blanket/bedspread my mom had, but they called it something else down here in the south.

Girl I love your tutorials.. I need this to go with a 1901 telephone I swear this square was calling me (no pun intended) thanks for all you do..❤
This is beautiful Corinna. Thank you so much hunni ❤ love you lots 😊
Love these vintage crochet patterns. You do an amazing job on getting the pattern to work.
Thank you so much!
very beautiful. I wish my hands didn't complain so much with the finer yarns.
OMG I was watching your video and after 50 min remembered where I saw this before.... it was the coverlet my grandma had on her twin bed when she was in her 80s.... it was white and had.been used and washed for years but the square and bobbles were the same!

Wow that's awesome !!! It's so pretty so intricate endless possibilities with what to make !!! Thank You for another great video !!! ❤ it
Wow! That is beautiful. Thank you! ❤
Beautiful and detailed pattern. Way to go. Corrine🎉
Thank you! 😊
Gorgeous!! I wonder how it would look with 3 or 4 weight... it would sure cut down on the number of squares you would need.
I like the way you figure things out just like we all have done. You really figure things out very well. Tallented
I love this pattern! Beautiful
Never craft when tired 😂 love your videos very relaxing and I love crocheting along. The scrapbook is such a neat idea!! Definitely going to do that.
Gorgeous!
That would make a gorgeous bedspread, shawl !! I bet you could figure out how to make flat ones to go in between …….the ideas are endless M! Love the pattern --bet you could do it in thicker yarn and it would be beautiful !!!
How about just some fillet in between?
I love u so much, Corinna. You seem so authentic. You send out good vibes. If you can't figure out the patterns EXACTLY, you let us know and I like the "subtitutions" you apply. You obviously have a lot of experience in crochet. As a beginner, I like that there is an option to tweak certain patters
Thank you so much!!
I love this pattern. So very lovely. ❤
PS. Just finished watching to the end and am so pleased you've made it available to purchase in your Etsy shop. Thank you very much. ❤
Wonderful work, all your videos are excellent, thankyou for sharing them
Old world style and very pretty pattern ❤
I like to do pattern like this and turn them into a poncho or a jacket or kind of...this looks very pretty. I really adore you patients. Thank you for taking us along.
Well done! Loved watching the square grow, its so pretty!
Yeah mystery. Thank you.
One of the prettiest yet, even without blocking! Took me 15 years, but I knitted a counterpane with 3d motifs like that and am glad now that I didn't try to keep track of how much cotton I used. I'm not sure I would have attempted it. I enjoy hearing your thought process as you go along.
The popcorns on this remind me of Spotify codes. Now I need to know if that would work and I could Rick Roll someone with my crochet 😄
🎉🎉🎉it is beautiful 🎉🎉🎉
Hey that would look great on your net curtain ❤
Absolutely gorgeous. How amazing it would be to have the time to make this bedspread, or make into a tablecloth. Maybe one day, so I'm saving to my playlist. Thank you for sharing!
I had to buy this, thinking I'm off to get some cotton now. I've never seen a popcorn stitch done that way and have always struggled to get the bump on the right side without turning. I'm so happy, thank you.
I made a cream double bedspread using a pattern very similar to this in the 1980s. Super pattern and looks amazing as a bedspread. ❤
Sure is beautiful ❤🎉 great job!
Gorgeous!!! 🤎
I actually caught that first mistake but you wouldn't listen me 😁 then as you kept going I thought well that might have been edited and I didn't see you do the second dc. But ya didn't 😉
I fixed where I was supposed to work 2 dc ( in the corner ) and I only worked 1, I went back and fixed it , and where I was supposed to work 3 dc in the corner, I only worked 2, but went back and fixed it
@justvintagecrochet I only mentioned it cuz I thought I was seeing things🥴 you've done it beautifully
@@mishellegarrett9243 lol all good 👍 😊
Absolutely a great pattern and video, well done. Love your channel.
Thanks so much 😊
It’s lovely and would take hella commitment to make a whole blanket.
That pattern is gorgeous
Oh wow! What a blast from my past.
I'm UK based & this looks exactly like a bedspread from a magazine called Golden Hands. i began making it around 1975 ish? I bought boxes & boxes of cotton to do the whole project 😊...

This pattern is so beautiful and so much work, at least this time it wasn't so confusing 😂 I could never do this.
I really love your videos 🩷everything you do it's so cute, this squares could be a beautiful tablecloth, I don't have the patience, unfortunately 💔

I would say if you did this, it could make a lovely tablecloth, but some stitches should be modified (no bumpies). Thin enough thread not sure I could do this without a lot of pain!
Excellent work, you deserve big cheers❤❤
So beautiful!
Thank you so much!, yeah I love the detail too :) , and I love that thread , I will have to y to find more :)
So very pretty!!
Gorgeous! ❤
Beautifully done!
