One reason the Fever was so bad last year was Lexie Hull's terrible year(s)up until new girl Caitlin Clark started working with her. That changed the Fever game completely. And I'm sure her twin sister was very excited to watch Lexie just KILL it in the second half of 2024.
It’s great to have you back. Satou will be cored and only comes to Indy if SHE asks for the trade. Indy must offer a fair trade but there is pressure on Dallas not to force Satou to stay. It is a bad look for future players. If Satou does not ask to play with the Fever the deal is dead. I’d be willing to offer the 25 first round pick along with Smith or the 26 first round pick for Satou. With an 8 and a 12+ we will not be able to get a talent like Satou and getting Smith off the team has its own rewards. Would I do all three? Yes. One more thing to consider. Satou will become a star off the court playing with CC. Her personal brand will not be as strong at any other team. Endorsements, advertising, media presence all are through the roof with the Fever.
Satou would be a great addition, but she has a history of injuries and there are a lot of other good players that could fill the void too. If she decides to go to N.Y. with her sister, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

In terms of Collier herself, if she were to be willing to move, it would most likely be to a large market -- NYC, LA, SF -- where she would have the chance to get many highly paid ad contracts. If you’re looking to create more Indy related content and feel like going down the rabbit hole of potential free agents for the Fever, you should check out Janelle Salaün who played for the French team at the Olympics and she plays in Italy for Famila Schio and she’s crushing it in EuroLeague. She’s a NaLyssa Smith on steroids. Ariel Atkins would be a good player to have, especially in case KM doesn’t resign. Lots of fans would love to see Gabby Williams on the team. She could have a very specific role. You could also do some mock drafts. Sonia Citron is a better Lexie Hull and Janiah Barker is also a much better NaLyssa Smith.
No, the Fever don't need Satou, she has an injury last year and it may come again. They need euro players like Malonga for back up center or Sivka for power forward, their age suits the Fever to be a dynasty
I don't know why everybody seems to think we need Satou for her 3 pt shooting......we already have about 5 players that are pretty good at that. But.......we're going to need someone to replace Temi, someone who can run, play defense, and has good basketball sense. One reason everyone is ready to throw Smith under the bus (not including her collusion with our arch enemy, eye gouger, "Mustard Girl") is that she doesn't run the floor, is often lost on defense, and doesn't appear to understand floor spacing or the importance of moving without the ball. Satou would be great, but there are others that would fit as well. Should be interesting. I gotta say the intrigue is killing everyone out here, so I hope they start making some decisions soon.
I for one will miss Temi I really got into her floor work, especially taking Caitlin's dimes. Indiana made the biggest move for success getting CC last year. She made a melting pot of players better. The Fever don't need 1 single player to come in a create success. They can now develop into a winning team and build with a rookie and a FA yr by year. Champs maybe but a strong competitor for yrs to come with 3-4 core players.

The only thing the Fever have to offer would be Nalyssa Smith, both draft picks, and throw in a couple of players for the heck of it. Maybe Christy Wallace and Vactoria Saxton. The biggest get for the fever would be Sedona Prince if she falls to eight in the draft. She finishes around the rim, she protects the rim on defense and can hit the open man out of double-teams.
That is why Satou Sabally is referred to as 'a unicorn'. She can do it all. That is why I have had Satou on my Christmas wishlist, and it is so important for the Fever to sign Satou for 2025.

That isn't saying she will be a Dpoy (Defensive Player of the Year) but it seems to indicate she isn't a liability in defence. In any case, she could not be worse than NaLyssa Smith. In watching Fever games, I admit I have not focused on the defence of the Wings.

There's a lot of good talent out there, but there are few "fits" like Satou for the Fever. Going to the Fever would do much for getting her the notoriety and appreciation that she deserves. Plus, she's young and the team is young. She's up for the Fever's high pace game.

It’s funny how all the new fans think NaLyssa Smith is a terrible player but she was awesome for Baylor and was picked #2 overall as a rookie. She just needs the right coaching because she was playing out of position last year and wasn’t being developed properly. Remember, here are the last 3 Fever first round picks: Caitlin, Aliyah, NaLyssa. She’s not as bad as people think and she’s still on her rookie contract so she’s cheap. I think the coaching staff should test her when she comes back from China and see if they can work with her. If not, she’s gone. The salary caps are so tight in the WNBA that you can’t just give up players if you think you can use them. You aren’t getting a player better than Smith for under $100k and she’s already built up a good relationship with CC, AB, and KM. She’s also tall on a relatively short team. They need more bigs. I think she’s trainable. I agree with Wheeler. She’s good but not good enough for this Fever team. And she gets more than twice as much as Smith. Katie Lou as well, almost at a max contract riding the bench.
The main problem with Nalyssa is not her game, is her mind. She is a selfish player. Her relationship with Carrington is not good for the team either. She is not a good defender. So her mentality doesn't and her game doesn't fit.
NaLyssa Smith has almost ZERO basketball IQ. She has a bag of 2, maybe 3 moves. She has literally NO defensive skills at all. These are things that are innate in her, and considering her lack of BB IQ, she won’t be trained to be much better. She was a great player in college, but she embodies what Taurasi tried to pin on Clark…against grown women, Smith just isn’t that good. Don’t tell the Fever’s competitors, though, because we need them wanting her so we can TRADE that excess baggage AWAY.
Smith just isn’t a good fit for the team. She’s a 4th option that wants to be a first or second and gets frustrated when she’s not. She’s probably a double double on some other team.

I can't see spending a 1st plus NS plus TBA to rent Sabally for a season. Better to let NY get her for next season and then sign her long term the following season.
Fever fans have been salivating over Satou since the middle of last season. It will lead to disappointment. If Satou goes anywhere, it may be to the Liberty. Better to look to the draft or to overseas for the power forward the Fever badly needs.

I live 30 miles from Dallas so I'm a Satou supporter but I also root for Caitlin's Fever so if Sabally goes to Indiana I'm great with that move b/c she and Clark will win WNBA next year. BTW Sexie Lexie Hull is both a great offensive and defensive player so if Sabally goes to play with her sister the Fever won't suffer very much.
She's made it clear that she wants to play with everyone but CC22 with her video were she names everyone but CC22. She even said Reese was better then CC22. Fever don't need her.
99% agree but the 1% is a deal breaker for me. She’s injury prone. She has only played 96 games in 5 years and she was out injured most of 2024. She played 15 games and missed 25 games due to a shoulder injury. We don’t need a high dollar bench warmer.
I’m willing to say they will win a championship next year. And I’d rather have Sabally than Smith, but if Coach White can improve her like she improved Carrington, maybe she could stay. I don’t want her to, but I’d try to accept it. Smith has a lot of potential. She was very inconsistent. Some say she had issues with Christie Sides and let that affect her. A good coach could make a big difference in her.
Maybe Satou is good for the Fever but I don't fully agree with your reasoning. Defense is more impt for this team. They were already a top offensive team when Sides finally let CC run things. Yes, coaching defense matters, but so does a player's mindset (exhibit A: Nalyssa). Everything you discussed about offense are things the Fever already have with CC (shot creation, Curry like release), AB (currently working on her 3), Lexie Hull, Kelsey (a solid 3 pt shooter in her own right), and even arguably KLS (who shot decently from 3 at the beginning of the season). I'd like to see some Sabally defensive plays instead of offense to get a better idea of fit.

I have to admit I'm a little disgruntled by your take. You dropped the ball on mentioning SS's comments during last season that were very positive toward CC/Fever even when they were in Dallas to play against each other. Plus, she mentioned potential for playing for the Fever in later comments. I think you dropped the ball on on KM. You mentioned her a couple of times, but not with the respect her game deserves; she makes more PPG than SS and has a higher FT %. Many folks, including myself, have be clamoring for SS to free agent the Fever, but at this point it seem less and less likely. The Wings will do very well with Arika, SS, and the first round draft pick in '25. Apparently coach White sees something in NS for potential the rest of the world is missing. I'll take a wild shot in the dark and predict we will see Victoria Saxton stepping up to do more in '25 because SS on the Fever is a fading prognostication. Of course, I think I've been wrong once or twice in the past.
The video Carter's referring to assumes those things. Dallas are not going to be contenders next season even with Satou (and Paige), and the following season is up for grabs like you say, so if Fever really are willing to sell the farm to get her now there is a way with enough assets traded. I'm not sure it's a trade worth doing but there's a way.

Getting Sabally is doubtful in my opinion. A sign and trade would be a 1 year deal. With the CBA expiring most likely all free agent signings will be 1 year deals. Some may be for longer but with an opt out for the player. So in other words... a 1 year deal. This means that the Fever would likely have to give up too much to get Sabally for just 1 year guaranteed. If I was GM I would not be trading that 8th pick, they may, but I wouldn't.
Yup, only way I make that deal is if I am SURE we're going to the finals and I'm confident she'll re-sign for a reasonable price. KM, CC, AB, and LH are going to put a big dent in their cap space in the near future.

They won’t pay Wheeler what they’ve been paying her. She was overpaid, and they will offer her a chance to stick around at maybe 40-50% what they were paying her before. The funds for Sabally are there.

Because she sucks and is picking herself up off the floor after any shot attempt. She can’t shoot threes and misses too many layups and is horrible on defense. Besides that she is great.
Satou Sabally should play on a team that Satou must realize that there can be only one Caitlin Clark. Her skills may be beneficial to a team that is in the building phase. She is injury prone and doesn't appear to be the right fit to enhance Caitlin Clark. Nalylessa Smith is an awesome basketball player. It possible that with the right coach, she can become more of what the Indiana Fever needs.

I haven't ever seen Satou play so it will be interesting to see how she shoots the long ball and works with Caitlin in the #5 slot down low. At 6'4" and over 200lbs she should be a killer at the 5. Plus she is DROP_DEAD GORGEOUS!!! 😍😘🥰

Indiana made the biggest move for success getting CC last year. She made a melting pot of players better. The Fever don't need 1 single player to come in a create success. They can now develop into a winning team and build with a rookie and a FA yr by year. Champs maybe but a strong competitor for yrs to come with 3-4 core players.

In Dallas needs a point guard, Olivia is a point guard, whereas they would have to mold Paige into a primary point guard. So Dallas won't be needing Grace Burger. The only thing the Fever have to offer would be Nalyssa Smith, both draft picks, and throw in a couple of players for the heck of it. Maybe Christy Wallace and Vactoria Saxton. But will really push this trade is Sabally. She can tell Dallas I know you can core me, but I really want to leave. So it's in your best interest to go ahead and trade me.

The biggest get for the fever would be Sedona Prince if she falls to eight in the draft. She finishes around the rim, she protects the rim on defense and can hit the open man out of double-teams.
Satou has a very quick release. Her biggest crutch, is that she's only played one full season due to injuries.

I have also read that she does _a good job staying in front of the player and has active hands, whether it’s making a timely reach for a steal or playing the passing lanes._ One of the reasons she has been called _a unicorn_ is that she can play well on both sides of the ball. That isn't saying she will be a Dpoy (Defensive Player of the Year) but it seems to indicate she isn't a liability in defence. In any case, she could not be worse than NaLyssa Smith. In watching Fever games, I admit I have not focused on the defence of the Wings.

It’s funny how all the new fans think NaLyssa Smith is a terrible player but she was awesome for Baylor and was picked #2 overall as a rookie. She just needs the right coaching because she was playing out of position last year and wasn’t being developed properly. Remember, here are the last 3 Fever first round picks: Caitlin, Aliyah, NaLyssa.
She’s not as bad as people think and she’s still on her rookie contract so she’s cheap. I think the coaching staff should test her when she comes back from China and see if they can work with her. If not, she’s gone.
The salary caps are so tight in the WNBA that you can’t just give up players if you think you can use them. You aren’t getting a player better than Smith for under $100k and she’s already built up a good relationship with CC, AB, and KM. She’s also tall on a relatively short team. They need more bigs. I think she’s trainable.
I agree with Wheeler. She’s good but not good enough for this Fever team. And she gets more than twice as much as Smith. Katie Lou as well, almost at a max contract riding the bench.

The main problem with Nalyssa is not her game, is her mind. She is a selfish player. Her relationship with Carrington is not good for the team either. She is not a good defender. So her mentality doesn't and her game doesn't fit.
NaLyssa Smith has almost ZERO basketball IQ. She has a bag of 2, maybe 3 moves. She has literally NO defensive skills at all. These are things that are innate in her, and considering her lack of BB IQ, she won’t be trained to be much better. She was a great player in college, but she embodies what Taurasi tried to pin on Clark…against grown women, Smith just isn’t that good. Don’t tell the Fever’s competitors, though, because we need them wanting her so we can TRADE that excess baggage AWAY.
Smith just isn’t a good fit for the team. She’s a 4th option that wants to be a first or second and gets frustrated when she’s not. She’s probably a double double on some other team.

Fever fans have been salivating over Satou since the middle of last season. It will lead to disappointment. If Satou goes anywhere, it may be to the Liberty. Better to look to the draft or to overseas for the power forward the Fever badly needs.

Smith is gone courtesy of that video where she and her s/o Carrington yukking it up about Clark getting almost blinded by Carrington's purposeful eye poke. I live 30 miles from Dallas so I'm a Satou supporter but I also root for Caitlin's Fever so if Sabally goes to Indiana I'm great with that move b/c she and Clark will win WNBA next year.
BTW Sexie Lexie Hull is both a great offensive and defensive player so if Sabally goes to play with her sister the Fever won't suffer very much.

99% agree but the 1% is a deal breaker for me. She’s injury prone. She has only played 96 games in 5 years and she was out injured most of 2024. She played 15 games and missed 25 games due to a shoulder injury. We don’t need a high dollar bench warmer.
I’m willing to say they will win a championship next year. And I’d rather have Sabally than Smith, but if Coach White can improve her like she improved Carrington, maybe she could stay. I don’t want her to, but I’d try to accept it. Smith has a lot of potential. She was very inconsistent. Some say she had issues with Christie Sides and let that affect her. A good coach could make a big difference in her.
Maybe Satou is good for the Fever but I don't fully agree with your reasoning. Defense is more impt for this team. They were already a top offensive team when Sides finally let CC run things. Yes, coaching defense matters, but so does a player's mindset (exhibit A: Nalyssa). Everything you discussed about offense are things the Fever already have with CC (shot creation, Curry like release), AB (currently working on her 3), Lexie Hull, Kelsey (a solid 3 pt shooter in her own right), and even arguably KLS (who shot decently from 3 at the beginning of the season). I'd like to see some Sabally defensive plays instead of offense to get a better idea of fit.

I have to admit I'm a little disgruntled by your take. You dropped the ball on mentioning SS's comments during last season that were very positive toward CC/Fever even when they were in Dallas to play against each other. Plus, she mentioned potential for playing for the Fever in later comments. I think you dropped the ball on on KM. You mentioned her a couple of times, but not with the respect her game deserves; she makes more PPG than SS and has a higher FT %. Many folks, including myself, have be clamoring for SS to free agent the Fever, but at this point it seem less and less likely. The Wings will do very well with Arika, SS, and the first round draft pick in '25. Apparently coach White sees something in NS for potential the rest of the world is missing. I'll take a wild shot in the dark and predict we will see Victoria Saxton stepping up to do more in '25 because SS on the Fever is a fading prognostication. Of course, I think I've been wrong once or twice in the past.

The video Carter's referring to assumes those things. Dallas are not going to be contenders next season even with Satou (and Paige), and the following season is up for grabs like you say, so if Fever really are willing to sell the farm to get her now there is a way with enough assets traded. I'm not sure it's a trade worth doing but there's a way.

Getting Sabally is doubtful in my opinion. A sign and trade would be a 1 year deal. With the CBA expiring most likely all free agent signings will be 1 year deals. Some may be for longer but with an opt out for the player. So in other words... a 1 year deal. This means that the Fever would likely have to give up too much to get Sabally for just 1 year guaranteed. If I was GM I would not be trading that 8th pick, they may, but I wouldn't.
Yup, only way I make that deal is if I am SURE we're going to the finals and I'm confident she'll re-sign for a reasonable price. KM, CC, AB, and LH are going to put a big dent in their cap space in the near future.

Satou Sabally should play on a team that Satou must realize that there can be only one Caitlin Clark. Her skills may be beneficial to a team that is in the building phase. She is injury prone and doesn't appear to be the right fit to enhance Caitlin Clark. Nalylessa Smith is an awesome basketball player. It possible that with the right coach, she can become more of what the Indiana Fever needs.
Sabally suffers from Black Bias - blind devotion to her race rather than talent or sportsmanship. We already have plenty of folks like that.
