I tried a hybrid approach thanks to your content and seemed to work well. Just a finger tip in a damp rag run along the door gasket. Just to give enough fudge factor maneuverability to get tucked up under/against the door frame and into position (centering). Then the rest is dry when seating and folding over the lip with no fighting. You are next level my man. Thanks for the content, binge watching haha.
Just install the door sill protectors dry, there is a great video put out by someone that shows you how easy it is to install these door sill protectors dry and they only take a few minutes to do. I just installed a set on my 2023 Tacoma and did it dry and it was no problem at all and way less work and fuss than the wet method. Even if you do get a small air bubble all you have to do is make a tiny puncture or cut with the sharp edge of a razor blade and you can't even see where the air bubble was, the glue is very sticky that you can't detect where the air bubble was. The trick is to remove the plastic rocker panel covers and pull up the rubber door seals from the pinch weld seam, now just peel a little bit of the backing away from the door sill protector line it up along the rocker then press down the end you peeled away some of the backing from, now just slowly peel away the backing while running your hand and fingers over the door sill protector tape as you peel the backing away. Tthis will allow you to install the door sill protector smooth, once you have the door sill protector fully on you will have a small portion overhanging the rocker. All you have to do now is use the outer palm of your hand and fold it over the rocker, it will lay down smoothly. Now reinstall the rubber door seal on the pinch weld seam and install the plastic trim you removed. The plastic trim just pops off.
Yeah don’t stress about it. I just cleaned the surface wet a little where you need to tuck it while keeping the rest dry. Once you get it tucked under foam molding slowly work it down back to front or front to back working out toward the sill edge. Once you get to the edge make sure to define the edge before lapping over. I used my right thumb and pointer knuckle to make a “V” if that makes any sense. Good luck to all just go for it have no fear!
Excellent video and words too were very helpful. I did like the idea also to let them heat in the sun a bit before the install, thanks for that idea too. I did see a video where the trim piece was removed and rubber weatherstrip moved off too. That video showed just the dry method. But a little lower in the comments I saw a guy say wet it under the weather strip only and I think that adds a very good idea. I'm not as confident that where the decal bends at a right angle over the edge, it will stay adhered for long using the wet method. I also liked the idea to start forward under the seal and line it up and work outward. When I tried from right to left with half the adhesive exposed it was not easy. Anyway thanks for your video it is the best. Helped me do the other 3. Sorry for the long comment.
Just finished mine. Piece of cake. Did it dry. Removed backing paper. Held the non sticky side up against rubber gasket. Slid down and under gasket. Rubbed it in with my fingers starting at gasket and working my way out. No air bubbles. Don’t make it too difficult. Really isn’t.
Hi from England! Best video i have seen so far (and i have watched at least 7... or more) from your comments and trials wet vs dry i think I'd compromise on mine when they come and just spray the edge under the door seal only... just so as to align the first part easily and you still get to keep the bottom edge dry for the thin fold down strip. appreciate your time
Thanks for the video. My door sill protectors arrived today and I was curious about how to line-up each one since there aren't any instructions.. Inexpensive and necessary mod for my 2022 TRD Tacoma.
Thanks for the install video! Just picked up a 2021 TRD Pro and the door sills were naked. lol Looks like these will be another mod to add to the list!
Hey you posted the video a year ago. But how did those air bubbles come out? I noticed you didn’t poke a small hole in every bubble. Do they eventually dry out and disappear? Thanks
I believe you could do that, however you would just be pushing the water towards the edge so do not put the dry edge tabs down first. Let me know if that makes sense.
@@bulleit9577 it’s a bit tricky, I have noticed sometimes the for sale Image is the old style but the shipped product is the newer style. Let me know if that makes sense.
After you clean everything, Wet down the surface and the back of the sill protector. I used regular dish soap. The adhesive will still be strong once it drys. Do your best to get as much of the soapy water mix out as you can once you have it set in place. It will help dry it quicker. Thanks for watching.

Thank you very much for the kind words. Great idea on using the wet method under the door gasket only. I'm sure that saved a ton of time.

Thank you for letting me know. Here is the link to the same ones/Part Number is the same -- amzn.to/3CP1CWq
@@ClassyTacos this new link the pics show the older version without the curved end. Do you think it’s just an old stock pic?
@@stephenrathbun Yes, I believe you will get the version with the curved end like I did.
Thanks man helped me make it easy.

Great video - my consensus is I'll install wet so I can position it.
Thanks for watching.
Great video and very helpful. Thank you for posting. I used the wet method with all of mine. Went on easy and looks great.
Great to hear!
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, appreciate it.
Hey you posted the video a year ago. But how did those air bubbles come out? I noticed you didn’t poke a small hole in every bubble. Do they eventually dry out and disappear? Thanks
Yes, they disappeared within a week. Thanks for watching.
What kind of soap? Kitchen dish soap?
Yup, nothing fancy over here. Thanks for watching.
could you not let the edge tabs dry then fold then down? They would stull stick right?
I believe you could do that, however you would just be pushing the water towards the edge so do not put the dry edge tabs down first. Let me know if that makes sense.
Nice install. Definitely like the newer style better than mine.
Thanks for watching.
@@ClassyTacos Does the "newer style" come in and out of stock? Can't find that style anywhere.

Thanks again Bro!

what kind of soapy water mixture did you make? regular dish soap? great vid!
Thank you, yes just regular dish soap.
How do you use the wet method? What kind of soap is that? Also using the wet method is the adhesive still strong? Thanks

@@ClassyTacos Thanks for all your help, what’s the ratio of the dish soap water mix? Is it just a few drops of dish soap or what? Thanks again
@@jaymoar3561 I just did a little soap and some water no real ratio to give. Just make the water soapy.
How’s this holding up?
Solid, no issues. They do exactly what I thought and they still look new.
Thanks Brother
