- Today we'll be taking a look at how Kingston Customs Builder Dirk Oehlerking took an old classic BMW R100 RS and turned into something truly remarkable. We've truly never seen a bike like this one. The sheer amount of handmade raw aluminum components and body parts is mind-blowing. So Racers, start your engines and let's get to know this automotive masterpiece.
This steampunk rider cafe racer is actually a 1980 BMW R100 RS dressed in nearly 50 pounds of aluminum cladding. Dirk Oehlerking is the man responsible for creating Kingston Customs BMW R100 RS, called the Good Ghost. This is part of a series of custom bikes, but this is the only one with a streamliner look. Besides looking like a vintage Royal Motor GP racer, the BMW's twin-cylinder, 72 horsepower, boxer engine and chassis remain stock apart from a stainless manifold and a custom gas tank.

That spike on the windshield area of the cowling looks pretty lethal 😂
the only thing I'd change
agree, i love everything about it apart from that feature. The BMW grill is comical but awesome at the same time.
Agreed - don’t stop suddenly! 😜
Niesamowite !
Piękne i cudowne.
Klasyczny motocykl BMW ubrany w szaty wizjonera.
Wszystko idealnie zgrane.
Pozdrawiam.
It’s looks great but I wouldn’t want to stop suddenly! 😜
Should call it "The Rocketeer"
Great name - I like it! 😜
Beautiful - it brings the Vincent Black Knight to mind straight away
I know what you mean - the Vincent was actually rideable though! 😜
I'm okay with the aesthetics of this showbike, with the exception of the racing number.
Agreed!
The issue with your steering becomes obvious if you notice how narrow is the outer shell over the front wheel. Would that make any control/handling issues if the front wheel steers too much and rubs against the shell?
Vip
Do a stoppie!
I hear you brother! Good way to lose your head! 😜
How do you Make a Turn…?
I’m talking about if you were in town and had to turn around ..!
RETRON.
Never seen one ? Check out Randy Grubb's decopods and deco liner .
I’ve just checked it out! I’ve never heard of him and his creations. We might put a video out on him. Thanks for the heads up-up!
Interesting from a design aspect, though quite impractical from an ergonomic aspect. If you're really going for aerodynamics, the legs and hands should have fairings, too, and enclosing the front wheel/suspension a losing the turning radius is, well, I'll let you decide. Hate the low handlebars. And having a tool or wine bottle fall into the rear wheel from a bump in the road would not be ideal, to say the least. From a highly respected road cruiser to a trailer queen, hmmmm.....
I can’t disagree with you. It was built for display in a moto museum. Thanks for watching.
dave rides a ghost
Everyone should ride a Ghost! 😉
@@TorqChop well dave is a spook... and his buddy jo wants to ride the night
The peak on the top of the headlight cowl sure looks like death by impalement , dangerous & poor design, the rest is awesome.
It’s a death trap - but we have to cut the designer some slack - it was made to be sitting in a motor museum in Texas. 😜
gag
…a gusty day on the highway and your ditch-meat…
Yep - that’s about the size of it. It was built to sit in a museum in Texas. 😜
AAAAH AAAAH HAHAHAHA ROFL !!
You won’t be buying one then? 😜
Restricted steering, restricted fuel, alcohol in the luggage compartment and bad narration.
What was wrong with the narration? How could be better?
@@TorqChop Slow and repettitive.
I do see your point - I’ll address that going forward - thanks for taking the time to comment. 😊
Well its only ever gonna be a trailer queen but notice there isnt a single shot from the riders perspective of the spear at the top of the bodywork . And any bike where your hands steer below your knees is stupid.
I agree, the ergonomics are not that friendly. It was built as show-bike after all. Thanks for watching.
This is not a masterpiece, this is just hideous.
I agree it’s not to everyone’s taste.
