I have done this so many times but only with picks and shovels right in the mud. esp. hard when you are operating this equipment in mud/clay materiel. Oregon state has all the mud/clay you want.
company i work for a major river crossing job 10km up a forestry service road we had 3 excavators up there, and after the job was all done it took me and 1 other labourer 2 full 8 hour days to clean the tracks on all 3 good enough for the lowbeds to haul the machines on city roads.
Never easy in Alaska, usually frozen, and in layers! Some days, just the north side froze, sunny side ok😉

We do the same thing at my work (I work at a cat dealership) We have a hose that's almost a fire hose, but it defiantly aint no garden hose
Damn right! That beats a shovel anyday.
