You mentioned that you had been looking for the grave of Robbie Ross. Actually, you found it. Ross had had a niche made for himself inside Wilde's tomb and requested that he be buried there. While he died in 1918, his request wasn't granted until 1950. So, the two of them are buried together.

23gizmo32 Robbie took to heart something Wilde once said to him: “Robbie, dear, when the Last Trump sounds, I shall turn to you and whisper “Let is pretend we do not hear it!”

Those with the most brilliant minds often have the most difficulties in society. Your compassion and admiration for him are appreciated. I have always liked how you will be walking and be in awe that the person you are vlogging would have walked. Great vlog, Jordan.

Thank you for the tribute you paid to one of the greatest English-language writers ever, Oscar Wilde. I just read - for the umpteenth time - the only novella he ever wrote "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and that work is so good that it is actually a pity that, apart from countless beautiful poems and wonderful plays, he only wrote one novella. The great aesthete who did not avoid sarcasm but embraced it as a gem.

I can cannot thank you enough for this beautiful trip to Paris. I have read Oscar Wilde's works long ago. I am so glad you got to experience this place. I felt your raw emotions and vulnerability in this, and left me feeling so honored to have shared this with you. This has been the experience of my life! Thank you, Jordan for being a gifted, talented, and guide extroidaire! You have full-fiiled my bucket list. Much love and safe return home. Laura Odle Parry ❤❤❤

Jordan thank you so much for this ! It was beautifully done. I watched the “Lillie” series & fell in love with the character of Oscar portrayed by Peter Egan. Oscar dared to be different back then & those who couldn’t handle it. I don’t understand about the leaves. I tried to zoom into the picture to see Oscar but I’m not sure if I did see him. It brought tears to my eyes as well as the bullying he took before he went to prison. Thank you also for showing us his resting place. The world back then wasn’t ready for Oscar. He paved the way for the lifestyle of those who prefer it. It took well over 100 years after his passing before accepting those who are different changed. Oscar was an original which will be er be duplicated. Here is to Oscar……❤

The Irish have produced FOUR Nobel laureates in Literature .
Firstly , George Bernard Shaw, then William Butler Yeats , Samuel Beckett
    and finally Seamus Heaney .
Alfred Nobel's great prize was initiated in 1901 , shortly after Oscar Wilde's death in 1900.
Had Wilde lived , he certainly would have certainly been awarded a Nobel Laureate .
Truly , an extraordinary human being & a towering literary figure .

As a long time Wilde fan, I must say you have outdone yourself with this great video. Your passion for and understanding of this great man comes through.....no small feat in a mere 30 minute video. ALSO, you did find Robbie Ross' resting place and did not realize it! When he had the monument designed, Ross had a small niche created just large enough for an urn. When he died, he was cremated and his ashes were interred in the niche......so Ross and Wilde are together for eternity.

Great stuff my man!! I just had to tell someone this that happenned to me on Friday. I have always heard his name. But for some reason Friday afternoon around 2pm I looked him up and watched the BBC documentary and movie "Wilde" and at the end of the Doc I see that he died 118yrs ago Friday from Cerebal Meningitis, something I beat after a month in the hospital when I was 4. I am 40 now. Woke up this morning and listening to his bio audiobook and find out he died at 2pm that day. Been having heath issues lately just got home and found out that my meningitis is back, but treatable. Crazy, there are things that we cannot understand going on this plane no doubt. Oscar Wilde buried 118 years ago today. God Bless You brother, stay safe.

I visited in 2010, back then, It was covered with visitors' lipstick prints which I like. They give the grave so much characters and I think Wilde would approve of the lip prints. I hate how they have destroyed the 'decoration' . I had no idea they put glass over the grave until I watched your video. I hate it. I am so lucky that I visited it when it's so free and so close to the grave.

Thanks for the tour of Oscar Wilde's gravesite its one place I wanted to see in Paris. I also wanted visit James M. Barrie's historical places like Kensington Gardens and Oscar Wilde's historical places in London England. I have read alot about Oscar WIlde's fall from grace on both sides of the argument and side with Robert Ross. Even Oscar Wilde blamed Bosie in the censored parts of his book De Profundus, Oscar Wilde shouldn't have sued for libel and walked away from Bosie a spoiled brat who unknowingly lead Oscar Wilde into a trap his father setup purposely. I think Oscar Wilde should have gone to France to avoid prosecution but became a martyr instead a man ahead of his time. It's ironic now that Oscar Wilde is in the poets corner. I think in England Oscar Wilde's reputation is being restored since more people understand what happened to him was unfair.

Thank you so much! I've had a fascination with Oscar Wilde since the early 80's. I've read several biographies as well as all of his works and I agree with you on De Profundis. Excellent vlog! Side note--he was born in October (so was I), married in May (so was I), had two sons (me too, from that marriage and another son from my second marriage), and died in November (waiting to see about that lol!)

It wasn't so much of the manner of Wilde's personal Life-style that the public and friends really cared about...It was his Uppity, 'Queenly', and innate personal snobbery to what Oscar considered the 'uninitiated intellect of the Masses'; be the the Working Man (whose physical robustness he adored), or those of the University Class. The trial really turned dead-set against him when the prosecutors ripped into him with a psychological scalpel; and produced damaging evidence of his part, during an all male party, festooned with 'Rent Boys', in which he verbally humiliated on such young boy, for 'being 'far too ugly', for him to kiss, even after Oscar had kissed all the others. The said young man, who idolized Wilde and his writings was so distraught, that he there upon committed- suicide. The prosecutor produced this at trial, with the threat of producing other 'rent boys' to testify . It was not a mere judgement upon Wilde that was played, but the Standard and sad fact--'Our Idols have feet of Clay', and once anyone looks beyond the shear genius of Wilde's work---one finds a man of shallow and contemptuous social views

People used to put on lipstick then kiss the grave, which damages the stone over time.
Back when I went to see the grave the glass was already in place, but there where also lipstick kisses on the glass. It *is* defacing but on the other hand there's a good chance he would have been surprised to know he was still THAT popular a century later

I was able to visit the grave in the late 1990's and in the early 2000's. There was no glass around the grave then. The only graffiti I saw on the tombstone was the lipstick prints of queens who would apply a thick layer and kiss the sculpture on the stone, mostly on the genitals.

This vlog was amazing, your improving so much. What a shame how society can be harmful to different people such as bisexual, disabled or someone that is different ... Some of Oscar's story is similar to me being different. One day people will understand we need to be different, not prefect otherwise the world would boring. It was a wonderful vlog and a great surprise. I really enjoyed how much your smiled everyone can tell how much it meant to you...This vlog put a huge smile and made me happy- great timing I just got out of a 7 days in hospital. Thankyou Jordan safe travels

+MICHELLE DALTON I'm so happy to read this!!! Those sunglasses are yours to chose what to do with. I can mail them to you, or we can figure out some way of doing something with them. I didn't want you to think I forgot to do them, I just had a suspicion I would make this happen this year. I hope you are recovering well :)

I got positive results from the infusion it's just pain management now, I have scar tissue in my spinal cord resulting in perm nerve damage which affects 100% of my body. I'm getting better everyday thank Jordan . You guys always make me smile and happy even when its bad, i thank you for that.I plan to come back to your gorgeous country hopefully sooner rather than later. Give Jah a big kiss

Jordan thank you for making this video. I’m planning a trip to Pere lechaise specifically to see Oscar and Robbie’s final resting place with a friend and she really didn’t understand why I wanted to go to a cemetery to see a writers tomb but I found your video and played it for her after telling her Oscar’s story but the emotion you showed while speaking of him I think convinced her it’s not just my crazy idea. She is now looking forward to going. Thank you.

I visited Pere La Chaise cemetery to see Frederic Chopin's grave - definitely worth a visit, and visited the other notable graves like Wilde's and Jim Morrison's, etc at the same time. Wilde's grave looks straight out of 1900 - so impressive and tragic. Proud that Paris was happy to have him and didn't care like Victorian London.

So pleased you got to see them. And next time you can do an Oscar Wilde day, with the hotel room and museum. I have never cried with your vlogs, but you had me in tears. You could hear the emotions in your voice, as you walked towards his resting place. Thank you again Jordan.

+Jakki and Buddy unfortunately, the museum exhibit ends in less than a month, but you can't always have everything perfect.. or maybe, it was as perfect as it was supposed to be
