    I watched some earlier cruises before the pandemic and the buffets were just 🤢. I like this way, way better.

    What is a good tip for room service?

    • @JenLefforge
      @JenLefforge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They add a tip automatically which I believe is 15% (for alcohol or anything with an additional. charge) and I added an additional $5 for just me

    Being able to order dishes from the other MDR menus is bonus! Escargot and chateaubriand every night if you like! Always ask about the secret "cake of the day" from room service and recommend tip a minimum $5USD and $1 for each item but never let that stop you from tipping more especially when it's very late at night! Agree that the food is very good in the MDRs, not remarkable, but Palo brunch buffet was always what I looked forward to! Hope the buffet returns! Always fantastic service onboard!

    For me, being sanitary, and cleanliness are absolutely paramount. It's not about Covid, but about everything one can catch due to unsanitary places and people. Things seen at pot lucks have made me super vigilant. Yum, Jen, and beautiful ambience in the dining room.

    We eat the same food on Disney cruises - can't wait to go again! And I love the new buffet - I've never liked the multiple hands on everything....

    I'm with you. I hope they stick to serving the buffet to guest . And thanks for the honesty about the food onboard. I have often wondered about that. I have to say I enjoyed the food on our Carnival cruise. Which is probably a good thing for a first time cruiser (especially when everyone brags about all the food you can eat lol).

    • @JenLefforge
      @JenLefforge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And honestly I really do like the food it’s just not the best food I’ve ever had if that makes sense?? And anymore eating all the food I can just makes me sick so there’s that

    Getting to know your servers is part of the fun. I remember it was our server’s birthday and our table sat her down and sang “HappyBirthday” …first time ever for her!! She teared up!
    Oh, and the escargot for the kids…yep, they were one and done. I still have the pics…reminded me of the “Green eggs and ham” book!!🤣🤣

    One of the best parts of cruising is getting to know the people who work on the ship, the waitstaff especially. And, of course having them cater to your every need is not too shabby either! 😂

    Silly question… what is the room service menu like? We’re you able to choose things from the restaurants or was it a preset separate menu?

    • @JenLefforge

    We went on a 2 night cruise in 2017 out of San Diego. I still remember how awesome the staff was . I loved the baked potato soup at Animator's palate. I asked the girl at Carnation Cafe at Disneyland if it was the same, she didn't know. I ordered it anyway. As i was leaving I said FYI it's not , the wonder was better lol. Your video series has made me feel more comfortable about sailing. I told my husband that after our Magic Keys expire, we need to save up and take that CA coast cruise we were planning before the great unpleasantness.

    • @JenLefforge
      @JenLefforge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly Shannon if I had to choose between the parks and a cruise I would choose the cruise!!!

  • @cwdefouw
    @cwdefouw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Totally agree that the food in the main dining rooms on Disney Cruise Line has always been good, but not fantastic, and that the menus sometimes lack imagination. This is the main reason that I feel that Disney self-classifying themselves as a “Premium” cruise line is a little false, and is being done primarily to try to justify the price tag. The food on a true “Premium” cruise line like Viking or SilverSea or even Celebrity is usually much more memorable.

    • @JenLefforge
      @JenLefforge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a great point. Before our Viking Sea adventure I didn't really know any different but truly, the food is not premium. Good. But not premium.

    THis looks pretty good! :) I guess because I cook all the time, for vacation dining out is such a big deal to me. It doesn't have to be super fancy for me. It just needs to be a good selection and well prepared.

    • @JenLefforge

    When I cruise, I would definitely go to the steakhouse, and would try the Italian restaurant. No foodie restaurant for me or places where the focus is on entertaining you. This is so that I can eat at a different place every night, the opposite approach that you described in this trip. Doesn't bother me at all to eat alone.

    • @JenLefforge
      @JenLefforge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As I said in the video, I felt the same way about the food as I always have. I think it's just because it's a big ship - I'm sure the food is on par with other large cruise lines. And I don't consider an 8 out of 10 average, certainly.

    Of course you tip more, they are fulfilling your every wish and doing it gladly. These days it is not easy to find people who are willing to work and do a good job, they should be well compensated. By the way, they do ask about food allergies right? It would be awful to be on-board and have to keep checking for something that might make you keel over just because most people aren't allergic to it.
