Dulles Day 2016- Airfield Tour and Plane Spotting

- Dulles Day was an amazing event on September 17, 2016. I took an airfield tour and did some plane spotting on the cargo ramp, very close to the taxiway and runway. The BA A380 had been at IAD for 3 days, probably due to a maintenance issue. These are my favorite moments including:
Qatar 747-8i
ANA and SAA Star Alliance
Icelandair Hekla Aurora
At 3:08 someone asked Tom, our guide, why the Qatar 747 was parked. He responded by saying it was due to movements in New York, namely UN Week. Tom began as a passenger, but volunteered to become a tour guide. He works at the airport with the airport ops. He was a great guide!

BUUUUT Last time i had to use my dads CRAPPY IPHONE CAMERA! Trust me dude taking videos is not really what u should do with the IPHONE, It CANNOT ZOOM IN! AND PRETTY BAD GRAPHICS TOO! And My dad got the Nikon Coolpix A900 WHICH IS REALLY FUCKING GOOD! YOU CAN HAVE

LOL, you are a funny guy! At least you saw and remember the airplanes during Dulles Day. That Qatar 747-8i was a very exciting visitor...you said you saw that too, so I took the pictures for you. :)

Something I just now realized is that the fire trucks at Dulles have loud Jake Brakes on them, listen to the loud crackle at 11:58 thats a good example that you caught! Something both exciting about trucks that both of us saw
Nothing is better than being airside! Ethiopian with some fog hole , ANA Star Alliance and Uniteds blasting off, Brussels A330, topped off by the Iceland Air! Looked like an awesome day, thanks for sharing!
Oh yes, airside is definitely king in the plane spotting hobby, and I wish events like these happened more! I glad you liked Ethiopian's fog holes (can't type that without grinning....) and Icelandair's Hekla Aurora. I was so excited to see those. Thanks very much!

DullesPlaneSpotter They let us pull the plane for fun. I pulled the plane with a lot of my friends that I brought along. We got the United 737 to move 3 feet
That's great! 3 feet may not sound like a lot, but when you're pulling a plane, that's huge!

Great Video! :-) Love the Star Alliance heavies, Qatar Airways 747-8, Korean Air 777 and the British Airways A380. Today Theresa May is 60. She's young in comparison with Rodrigo Duterte. The 71-year old is the Oldest Philippines President in History.

Why did you not film the Reverse Thrust doors closing on the Private jet?!?! You have filmed 777-200 takeoffs but will probably be the ONLY time you will see that Exact Private Jet

Where is the best place to watch airplanes on a normal day
Bradley, I would recommend the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum to the South of the airport. Normally airplanes will land past the observation deck, but sometimes they will land to the North. When they land to the North, you will still be able to see them from the museum, but Daily Parking Garage 2 is a better location with the views you see in this video. However, police generally don't like people on the garage.
When does the a380 come in
The Emirates A380 arrives at 8:40a, the Air France A380 arrives at 3:50p, and the British Airways A380 arrives at 12:45p (this flight is sometimes a 747-400).
