I thought we couldn’t do desalination plants in Orange or Los Angeles Counties due to the continued pollution of the water in the are from container ships, oil spills, sewage spills, industrial run-off, riverbed drainage, etc. I thought the plan was always to put the desalinization plants on the coast in Central California where those pollutants are considerably less. Stellar idea, back up plan towards drought arrivals. 50-million gallons per day won't cover entire state, but will cover many cities, if disciplined non waste is included. This will be answer to water shortages. No other resources besides removing fresh water lake depletion. Which are to small body water resources, to be effective within high demand. Plus really dampers fishing season, the fish will not bite at all, when water is fluctuating. Castaic upper lake/2011, went fishing there 8-consecutive trips, 6:00am-7:00pm, premier lake Rated #2 nation wide towards fresh water large mouth bass. Not one fish was caught, not even one bite as well, between two anglers 13-consecutive hours × 8 trips during 2011-post spawn, throughout mid-summer time. Prior years/seasons, average 4-17, 3-lb-8lb large mouth bass with ease, even young kids were hitting at least 2-4 bass daily. Once water is pulled, they are fully lethargic, like no where to be seen. Lakes were very deleated within fire season, also no rain during fall/winter season.

    1. We need better technology for desalination. The cost of building a plant, the clean water output and the energy needed are way too inefficient.
