UPDATE!!!! So it seems the issue is specific to the newer Magic Trackpad and the trackpad on Mac notebooks. If you disable "Tap to click" in Settings < Trackpad you can interact with elements in the Viewer window without any issue. If you disable "Use trackpad for dragging" in Settings < Accessibility < Pointer Control < Trackpad Options you can drag elements in the Viewer window. So, yeah. I'm guessing enabling the ability to drag and drop effects from the Inspector onto the Viewer window may have caused this bug? Of course none of this affects FCP if you're using a Magic Mouse, Mighty Mouse or 3rd party mouse. This also doesn't affect FCP if you're using the older AA battery-powered Magic Trackpad.
Thanks for the video! I've had the same issue with the transform tool. It wouldn't let me adjust the size properly. I had to switch back to the select tool and then return to the transform tool. However, it didn't freeze or crash.
Dang those are strange! Even weirder that this has been one of the most stable releases I have ever had personally 😂 Great video. This is gonna be super helpful for people!
And I would have thought it was just a rare, odd occurrence but with it happening on two of my Macs and a few others having the same issue it’s a bit of a concern.
Hello, update 10.8 has a bug. He gets stuck with masks. It also stops with «Transform», «Crop» and «Distort» as soon as they start to be used. I found out where the problem comes from. They probably didn't test this update in this situation: The problem in the masks ("Transform", "Crop" and "Distort") which crash the program arises if the three-finger dragging function is enabled in the trackpad settings (Accessibility - pointer control - trackpad options - use dragging - three-finger drag). By deactivating the "use trackpad for dragging" option, the problem with these three masks is resolved. As regards the «Sample color» mask of the «Green screen Keyer» effect, some small problems remain. That is, it is a bit slow in action. Macbook pro M1 Max, 32 GB ram
Yes, I also have an M1 MBP and experience all the same problems. I haven't used a mouse in years. I hope I can find one around my house while I wait for their fix.
Thank you Matthew. I haven’t updated to 10.8 yet and those are features I use daily… so you just saved me a lot of potential frustration. I will be holding off on the update until 10.8.1
I'm on a M1 MacBook and each time I was trying to use the audio EQ, it would work fine on the 10 band EQ but if I changed it to the 31 band EQ, FCPX would crash almost instantly. I don't mean it would hang up, it would full blown shutdown and crash. Granted, I don't use the 31 band EQ often, but today I wanted to use it to for some finer tweaking. I tried it on two different projects and it occurred all 3 times I tried to use it.
I’ve got the same titles “freeze” bug. I’m glad to hear it’s not just something hosed with my system. If you click two or three times on a main timeline clip, it’ll come out of the freeze, but it’ll freeze again if you try editing the title. I’m running a MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16 GB RAM, no 3rd-party plugins.
Yeah, that's why I usually don't do updates, it always seem to be problems! Audio skimming is the only way to do accurate editing. Interesting I'm using a Mac mini M2.
Thank you for letting me know I'm not going crazy lol yes, the two bugs seem to be the application freezing whenever I try to make changes to the titles. The other issue is audio skimming, which is a feature very useful for editing music videos and sound designs. I also use a trackpad to do my editing so maybe that would explain the glitches. Thank you for putting the video out there, it'll make the people at FCPX hustle to make these fixes. Generally, the latest update to FCPX seem to be lagging with video playback.
Check out the video I posted today for the latest info: th-cam.com/video/aJGnu0Gn3iA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=odz-mWID6e_452zp And even more info in my pinned comment in the Comments 👌
Also just discovered a bug when synchronising clips which has put me at a standstill with a current project I'm editing. Gonna roll back to the previous version until they iron out the kinks
The bug that makes me the most nervous is when you export... the audio gets lost for a few frames, and sometimes the images freeze. When I check the file, all those problems are there. I use FCP because it is very reliable and robust when exporting; I was never worried about any bugs created by the application until the 10.8 update arrived. Too many . Thank you, Mathew, for reading this comment.
Thanks for confirming my own experience. I thought the 'text freeze' was purely due to some unusual frame rates I was combining from a 3rd party camera but it seems it's a general issue. Let's hope it gets fixed quickly as this is a major headache with workflow.
It's a bit strange: I have myself an M1 MacBook Pro and I don't have any of those issues. Masks work as always, I can resize anything on the viewer and I can modify any text in the viewer without issues. I'm running the Spanish version BTW.
Big question: Does Apple create problem with each update so that they can fix them later on? I don’t understand how things that weren’t problems in previous updates are later problems. They aren’t rewriting the entire program each time.
I have this bug. You have to disable and re-enable scrubbing to reset it, but it goes again every time. I also found a thing where the position of connected clips were a frame out of where they were actually visable
I get the exact same issue with the transform freezing then after a but, it shows where I moved it if I click somewhere else. This is happening on the M1 Mac Mini running latest OS. Glad this is not just me!
That sounds like a little less pain than what I'm experiencing if you can click somewhere else and see where you moved the element. I can't get FCP to do anything for 4 to 5 minutes after the freezing happens. Not fun!
I have this bug with clicking on the viewer for titles and manipulating objects... But I also experienced a bug with the new smooth slow motion, clips where I apply it don't render at all neither with CTRL + R nor CTRL + Shift + R
Hi Matthew. Thanks for your video. I've just bought a new mac studio - M2 MAX - after several years on a pimped out iMac. I sadly didn't stop to think about 10.8 being a new version as I was wrapped up in my work. If I did, I wouldn't have updated during the setup and would have set it up with 10.7. I've had this new kit for less than a week and the 10.8.1 update is ALSO buggy as hell. I'm doing the simplest edit for a client - a photo montage to music - and every 15 minutes I'll move a photo around, adjust it somehow, and then all operation on FCP vanishes. The music track keeps playing but I have no mouse control in FCP. I can operate any other software on the computer but nothing inside FCP. If I try to quit I get a beachball that stops spinning after 2 seconds. Then I have to force quit. When I go back to the timeline after re-launch whatever image I was working on has something random and weird happen to it like the size going up by 500% etc. I'll go back and replicate what I was doing, it seems to be fine for 15 minutes and then something else will happen, never in exactly the same way. Unbelievably frustrating. In 20+ years of cutting on macs - and every version of FCP - I've never had issues hit me like this (especially with an edit that is so simple and not tasking the system in any way). So, I guess the 10.8 'fix' to 10.8.1 addressed some issues, but not others (certainly not mine). I'm pulling my hair out as I have loads of REAL jobs coming up with complex timelines. Hopefully they'll see your post and get their act in gear. This upgrade was obviously not ready for release.
I've been having an issue with Final Cut Pro 10.8 that's particularly frustrating when using a wireless trackpad with my Mac Studio. Specifically, the three-finger drag gesture isn't working as expected. When I place the cursor over text and try to drag with three fingers, nothing happens. I'm forced to click and hold to drag, which defeats the purpose of the three-finger drag gesture designed to avoid clicking and holding. While this might seem like a minor issue to some, it significantly disrupts my workflow. The three-finger drag gesture is essential for me because it streamlines my editing process by eliminating the need to click and hold. Ironically, this gesture works fine everywhere else within Final Cut Pro's UI, except in the viewfinder. This inconsistency is incredibly frustrating. I even went as far as reinstalling the operating system, thinking there might be an issue with my OS after consulting Apple tech support. It's somewhat comforting to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue with version 10.8. Hopefully, this means a fix is on the way soon.
I completely agree. I use Three Finger Drag extensively and it's messing with my flow to have to go to the Inspector to adjust elements that are in the Viewer. I hope they get an update out soon...
@@matthewTobrien During a phone call and screen sharing session with tech support a few minutes ago, I navigated to your TH-cam channel to demonstrate that the issue I'm/we're facing in Final Cut Pro is a shared frustration within the community. While I don't believe these problems were intentional, I'm confident that they will find a fix for these minor bugs.
That's awesome! Hopefully it helps the engineers figure out the root cause. Appreciate you sharing my video! I used to be an at-home Apple Support Advisor - it's a tough gig when a customer has an issue that's completely out of left field.
Mac mini M1 2020 16GB 1TB SSD. No problems with the Transform tool working in the Viewer - resizing and repositioning work as normal. Titles working as normal (based on a few I've tested). The Draw Mask works as normal. Audio skimming works fine with the mouse, but no audio is heard when using the arrow keys with audio skimming turned on (did this work before the update - not sure). Thank you for reporting on these issues Matthew. Note that the poster @kutframe has reported here that turning off the video skimmer, with just audio skimming turned on, will allow frame-by-frame audio scrubbing using the arrow keys. Thanks for the tip @kutframe.
When I add a title and then click in the text window in the right and start typing, the first two or three times it deselects the window and then everything goes crazy as I end up typing a series of shortcut commands in a row. So now I have to type one letter at a time to make sure it isn’t deselecting the text type window. Also, not sure if this is FCP’s fault, but since I upgraded, a lot of my added titles no longer display text correctly. They’re all jumbled up with strange characters, and when I replace the sample text with my own text, it’s also nonsense characters
I'm having some similar behavior once I'm able to get FCP to recognize that I'm editing the text in a title. I'm not having the strange characters issue though...
@@matthewTobrien I fixed the jumbled text in the titles. I tried reinstalling the titles but that didn't work, and resetting preferences, which also didn't work. Then I opened the title in Motion, selected the text layer, clicked a different font then clicked back to the original font, and it works again. No idea why it did that, but at least I can display titles in a language other than Klingon.
I just downloaded 10.8 to my Macbook Pro and reverted back to backed up version of fcpx 10.6.8. after watching this video. Respectfully, thanks for being the guinea pig. We do appreciate it. Cheers.
@cameomovieblog If you didn’t back up your previous version and your Library it’s not looking good for you. One option is to grab a mouse and edit with that for the time being. Not a great solution. In my video about the update I tell viewers to always back up their current version of FCP before updating 😬
What the heck Apple? Logic Pro has also been a nightmare since its last two updates. Logic Pro completely crashes when audio skimming. Maybe Apple "Intelligence" should be focused on quality basics of application development and a whole lot less Gen-mogi or whatever they are calling their fluff to keep us distracted from them doing things that would get us fired if we did it.. And rightfully so.
I’ve had worse bugs that came with updates over the years but the last two years FCP upon updating has been pretty consistently buggy. I just wish they would create a true beta program for it but I think if they did it would give away too many secrets with what they’re going to reveal with their hardware.
ProRes Raw settings can’t be changed when clips are stacked in the timeline. Even though one is market, it reads them all and says different values when you want to change values. It’s fine if you don’t stack clips.
I've noticed the second bug with the playback in video as well... My Mac Studio resolved it fairly quickly, but it's there... I'm not sure but it seems to be a loading error... which would make it difficult for most people... for me it wasn't bad, but letting Apple know using feedback, actually does help them get it fixed... I'm not surprised that these are happening, every primary upgrade of FCP has had some problems, that do eventually get fixed...
Thank you for bringing this up. I experienced similar problem whenever I try to transform my footage using the three finger gesture on my MPB. It would freeze. I even called Apple and they said it could be my plugins. Long story short, I formatted my hard disk, reinstalled just FCP still it freezes. So disappointed with FCPX. I mean Capcut may not be as refined or as powerful, but it's free.
Yes, this could be an entanglement with 3rd party plugins but then again my FCP TH-camr friends have just as much if not more plugins than I do and their systems are running just fine. Of course it could be just one plug-in that I have and they don’t… hard to say.
Yup. First bug is legit. I was trying to set a sync point for a multi cam edit using audio. I worked around it. I won't explain it here, but I got it work. But you have to do the step every time.
Someone said that if you toggle Audio Skimming on an off after attempting to do the frame by frame skimming with the arrow keys it'll start working again. I haven't tried yet...
So your first issue, scrubbing with back or forward space, that needs addressing for sure, as to all the other issues, I ran tests as you did them, and I could not re-create any of those issues. There may be a plugin issue doing some weirdness, I have had that in the past but directly affecting FCP functionality is pretty rare. I did the title thing, no issues, I did draw masks, no issues there either. I am still on 10.8 from the release. You may have to get this to a higher level in apple care with a system dump so they can see what might be effecting it. So far so good on my end, no other issues to report.
M1 Max Mac Studio, M1 Pro 14” MacBook Pro, M2 Pro Mac mini. FCP on the Mac mini is working fine. Great assessment though, and a good suggestion. I will most likely test it next in a temporary user account to see if it’s user-specific or system wide.
@@matthewTobrien Yes, I keep forgetting, that's like the level 3 thing they try to get you to do for trouble shooting software issues, can you replicate without all the plugins using a dummy account. Worth a shot, then it's a matter of hunting down that one thing that holding up the whole process. 🙄
Hi Matthew, I have none of those issues on my Mac Studio M2 Max (Sonoma 14.5), except for the frame-by-frame Audio scrubbing with arrow keys. The trick is to turn off the vidéo skimming and it works again. I have noticed some issues with some MVFX effects, like the Zoom in the mTurorial pack and some mLogo effects that are not playing smoothly, after a relaunch of FCP it finally works… To date I have not yet tested all the effects. Wait & see…
Great info on your experience! I'll keep an eye on those MVFX plug-ins - I use mTutorial all the time and was unable to use most of the effects because I couldn't grab the element in the Viewer and adjust sizing, etc.
Yes, turn off video skimming and the frame-by-frame audio scrubbing using the arrow keys will work, with just audio skimming turned on. Thanks for the tip @kutframe 👍
Have experienced 10.8 freeze when using a Blackmagic Design Ultrastudio Mini Monitor (AV out to grading monitor) with Intel 2017 iMac - FCP starts but then get spinning ball. A workaround is to not connect the Ultrastudio Mini Monitor until after starting FCP 10.8 and then seems to work fine.
I had the bug and cannot work properly. It is the tenth time that FCP fails in a big way for me. Davinci is installed and waiting. In not so long I will stop using FCP and I think slowly transition from Mac OS to Linux because the last things that I needed were proper editing software and gaming and they are now fixed on Linux.
I noticed the audio skimming thing instantly. It's driving me crazy. Definitely a bug. I have found a workaround but I hope they fix it so it works like normal in the next update
@@donjohnsmusic3116 I leave audio skimming on but turn off skimming. As soon as you switch off skimming it just starts working again. Annoying as I like to use both at the same time, so I just keep alternating between them
I know a few others have experienced the same bug that I'm dealing with... Still not 100% convinced it's an actual bug versus some kind of conflict with macOS or 3rd party plug-ins in FCP. This is one of the stranger issues I've encountered, and I'd love some input from software experts out there who know how to categorize (and possibly troubleshoot) issues like this. I went through all the steps in Apple's support article titled "If Final Cut Pro isn't working", and I've had no luck resolving the issue. Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem?
Are you running with external drive video? I was having issues with FCP just freezing while copying any files to/from the external drive in the background. I’ve never had that issue before 10.8. I’m on a M2 Mac mini Pro.
I have had more BBODs since 10.7.1; often just moving my mouse to switch to another item in the project. Note I have the constant rendering turned off.
These deep hanging freezes have been increasing on my end over the last year. Often just CMD+TABbing back to FCP takes 3-5 secs. Inexplicably hanging on everyday activities. On M1 Mac Studio. Today I'll be editing all day in 10.8 and I'm curious to see what's happening for me now.
I’ve had some really short ones since 10.7 but nothing that was too frustrating. Biggest one was it taking 2 seconds to pull up the FCP window when using the App Switcher to switch between apps.
@@matthewTobrien Yes, that's the one I meant. Some things have been improving slightly (waveform drawing-a bit), but FCP seems to be getting a bit more bogged-down in scans/processes of some kind. Oh well, maybe it will get ironed out in… Final Cut Pro 11!
Interesting... I'm not having that issue so far but I've only tried the audio skimming stuff for a few minutes to try out the other bug people are reporting.
I have the same issue. I got the Trail version to see if it was worth changing from DaVinci. So no plugins or other things in use. I thought is was because it's a M1 with only 8GB RAM. Happy it's not that. But it should be resolved ASAP.
I'm from Japan. I'm very troubled by the bug in FINAL CUT Pro 10.8, which has not yet been resolved by updates. In particular, when inserting subtitles, it freezes for several to several tens of seconds, making it unusable. Fortunately, I was thinking of switching to Da Vinci Resolve and was in the process of studying it, so I'm not having any trouble with video production, but I hope it will be fixed soon. Is Apple taking measures against this issue? I'd be happy to hear your opinions.
Thanks for the info, I usually always wait until Version .1 or .2 before I even try it out... Hope command post is not the culprit, I cannot live with out that. Exporting individual clips in large batches is Key to my clients and my workflow and cannot believe FCPX has not incorporated that yet...
It's just so odd that my M2 Pro Mac mini works fine and my fellow Final Cut Pro TH-camrs aren't having the issue at all either. The mystery continues...
I have the exact same issues with mask overlay, transformation, video cropping, and everything related to the view panel. MacBook pro 16/M1/1Tb, Sonoma 14.5. I reinstalled the program several times, but nothing helped. I reset the settings, created new libraries, and spent the whole day trying to understand and fix the problem, but it's still there.
hi, I have the audio skimming problem with the arrow keys, annoying, but no problems with the transform or screen things (Mac mini m2 pro, apple mousse). thx
Interesting. I will give that a try because my M2 Pro Mac mini is Magic Mouse and the only computer where I’m not using Three-Finger Drag. You’ve got me thinking!
I experienced the exact same issues yesterday. Also some 3rd Party plugins won‘t show up anymore as if they weren‘t even installed- so no red thumbnail just gone! I love FCP but I always wonder how come their developer team do not experience these issues dudes like us have right after updating… Hope they release some fix soon!🎉
I edit live music visuals + tour timecode, the audio skimming bug is crippling for me. I found that you can get the sample skimming back with the arrow keys if you move your cursor over the library window and away from the timeline. Still annoying tho. Do better Apple.
Oh I remember my days editing live music visuals. That frame by frame audio playback was CRUCIAL. You could always roll back to 10.7.1 if you backed up FCP and your Library.
That's great to know - definitely not affecting all users so it'll be interesting to know what the root cause is to see what the common denominator is.
@@matthewTobrien I've not noticed that. It could be, but I've been moving pretty fast with this project and have not tried to trace my steps. I'll keep working on it and get back to you.
Thanks! Noted....also...how do you not have carpal tunnel using JUST the trackpad??? I have it on my left hand and an mx3s with a deltahub thingy cause my wrists be killing me
Three-Finger Drag is the key to unlocking the magic of the Magic Trackpad 👌 I never have soreness in my hands or wrists. th-cam.com/video/VVTglFlx1y4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zRLUhvhG7y5VE_5O
@@matthewTobrien Yup, it pretty neat! I have one on my left hand for edits requiring drag and zoom in but I like a bit more precision on my right hand so I got the MX master 3s (s is for silent btw so no clicking noises) But hey if you haven’t experienced any wrist or palm pains then it’s all gucci
Multicam Clip Sync issue in FCP 10.8. When I try to sync a clip selection to the monitor Audio, the progress never goes away. I have to force quit FCP. I have a Maci Mini M1. This is the only version I have had this issue.
Hi Matt, great video! The audio skim thing is killing me as I was trying to sync clips to specific points in the audio. I have a question about the motion track. I have a clip that is coming towards the camera and passes through. I need a graphic to track and grow larger but when I click on scale it instantly shrinks it tiny. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or what because 1-2 of the attempts it didn’t do that. Thanks
There are some settings you can disable on the Trackpad in the Settings app (my pinned comment mentions them) or you can grab a mouse and everything in the Viewer will work normally. You can also use the Inspector to change text, adjust position and scale, etc. Very frustrating, I know…
Using a Mcbook M2 Pro with Magic Trackpad and definitely experiencing the same hanging bug. Almost every time I try to adjust a title or plugin effect, FCPX hangs forever. Very frustrating. Come on Apple, we need a fix.
@@matthewTobrien Ok just wondering because I am still on Ventura and I'm not experiencing any of these issues? But I have been preparing to upgrade to Sonoma, but this will surely force me to wait! Unless absolutely necessary I always try to wait and stay behind one generation of OS so companies can catch up, I also use my comp for audio production and things just have to work! With the official announcement for Sequoia I figured it was time to get on Sonoma!
@@drewbin101 You’ll need to upgrade to Sonoma as well so keep that in mind. Make sure you back everything up! And I try to upgrade ASAP to make videos about how it’s going. And warn you all if necessary! ⚠️
skimming is weird in 10.7. Whenever I use the skimming on single clip in the project, sometimes (more often than you'd expect) it gets stuck and you can't skim in the project. ONLY solution I've found so far is close the project and opening it back again. I used to just close the FCPX and reopening the app but eventually realized I could just close the project and reopen so that I wouldn't have to wait for the app to close and open again.
movie after export to computer does not playing. In half of playback suddenly stopping, and that it. Rest movie is unplayable. That situation happening with every kind of export. Need to be remove proxy files before exporting. Sometimes that method can help, but not always. That bug is still not removed
Good to know! I will test that out on my end as well just to see what it’s like. Use the Final Cut Pro feedback option in the Final Cut Pro menubar to let the FCP team know if you haven’t already done so.
I just purchased a 24" Mac and downloaded FCP 10.8 and began using an older library, which I had to update (no problem), but I can't, for the life of me, save custom effects presets. Is anyone else having this issue? It won't create a new category nor save to an existing category. My trackpad is disabled as per Matthew's suggestions in his pinned comment, so I'm at a loss.
Bizarre. On my side, I partially don't have those bugs. BUT, the audio skimming work with the mouse. The titles work fine. My computer is a Mac Studio M1 Max.
Since 10.7.1, it's been unmounting the SSD I use to store the video. If I don't use the program for a bit and keep LPX open, it'll just eject my SSD from the program. The SSD will still be shown on my desktop. When I go back and see that it's done that, I have to remove the SSD and plug it back in. Then reopen the file. Pain in the a$$.
Oh wow. I haven't heard about that but definitely frustrating. Not sure how I'd troubleshoot that one other than testing it with other drives to see if it's the drive or the software.
It seems that the issue with the software freezing and its functionalities depends on the use of the trackpad. If you use a mouse, everything works fine.
10.8 buggy as hell. It freezes a lot and somehow after a while (10-15min) into editing uses like 100% of the computer resources without even doing anything.
Thanks for the heads up. Can I just encourage you to keep saying "Tweet" and "Twitter"? X, while technically correct, is just like pronouning GIF as "jiff"...they can't make us if the masses refuse to say it! HOLD THE LINE, BROTHER! 😂 Seriously though, your channel is invaluable to the FCP community. Keep it up.
Also not to mention that “collapse to a connected storyline” became literally entirely unusable with 3+ clips
Uh oh... I've heard issues with this. I have yet to test, though.
Thanks for the video! I've had the same issue with the transform tool. It wouldn't let me adjust the size properly. I had to switch back to the select tool and then return to the transform tool. However, it didn't freeze or crash.
That’s interesting… I can’t even switch to a different tool because it’s hanging. Thanks for relaying your issue!
They probably didn't test this update in this situation:
The problem in the masks ("Transform", "Crop" and "Distort") which crash the program arises if the three-finger dragging function is enabled in the trackpad settings (Accessibility - pointer control - trackpad options - use dragging - three-finger drag).
By deactivating the "use trackpad for dragging" option, the problem with these three masks is resolved.
As regards the «Sample color» mask of the «Green screen Keyer» effect, some small problems remain.
That is, it is a bit slow in action.

Agreed! Seems to be a fairly widespread issue...
It's a bit strange: I have myself an M1 MacBook Pro and I don't have any of those issues. Masks work as always, I can resize anything on the viewer and I can modify any text in the viewer without issues. I'm running the Spanish version BTW.
Understood! Glad you're not having any issues and this is helpful in trying to rule out an M1 vs M2/M3 situation. Thanks!
Thanks I have the same problems . I regretted update
If you backed up FCP 10.7.1 you can roll back to that version 👌
Interesting… I had an issue with Control + R as well to render a selection. 🤔 Gonna keep my eye on that one to see if others mention it.
I have same problem
Cheers.
I'm on the front lines!
How do I reverse to a previous version? I desperately need to go back to work and this...bug...is driving me bonkers. Thanks in advance
Good to know! Be sure to send that feedback in to the FCP team through the feedback option in the Final Cut Pro menubar.
I thought it was me! I couldn't delete a sound effect by selecting it in the inspector, then backspace. It would just hang...
Oh boy… that’s a new one I’ll have to try to replicate. Thanks for reporting on that, Sonny!
@@matthewTobrien of course I'm using a trackpad as well! 🤣
I'm also on an M3MAX system, what are your other 2 systems?
Thanks for reporting that issue!
I know other editors who are feeling the same...
I noticed the audio skimming thing instantly. It's driving me crazy. Definitely a bug. I have found a workaround but I hope they fix it so it works like normal in the next update
what's the work around? I need that as I use it 100 in editing.
@@donjohnsmusic3116 I leave audio skimming on but turn off skimming. As soon as you switch off skimming it just starts working again. Annoying as I like to use both at the same time, so I just keep alternating between them
Thanks, I’ll try that.
I’m working on the internal SSD although I do have several RAIDs attached.
I have had more BBODs since 10.7.1; often just moving my mouse to switch to another item in the project. Note I have the constant rendering turned off.
Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!
Haha I’m more than ready for it!
My FCP gets LAGGY AS F*CK with audio skimming on. Extremely weird. Didn't do that before. I sue it a lot when adding subtitles to videos.
Object tracker was working after update but now will not resize or change shape at all. Restarted several times and same thing
This was happening on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro without CommandPost running so I don’t believe that’s the issue…
Yes it is a bug! Not updating now 😂 Thanks for the video man!
I’m having similar issues. Also experiencing rendering issues
Copy that. Mouse or Magic Trackpad / laptop Trackpad?
On a M3 MAX mabook pro, I have none of those issues on it, audio skimming, graphics , zero issues. even with 3rd party plugins all fine
I keep having issues with eqing audio. Soon as I change anything it crashes final cut.
I’ve been able to use Channel EQ to do frequency sweeps and mess with treble and bass without any issues.
hi, I have the audio skimming problem with the arrow keys, annoying, but no problems with the transform or screen things (Mac mini m2 pro, apple mousse). thx
Another M2 Pro Mac mini not affected. Good to know!
osc dragging issues, turn off three-finger dragging and use the mouse. That's how I solved it.
Interesting. I will give that a try because my M2 Pro Mac mini is Magic Mouse and the only computer where I’m not using Three-Finger Drag. You’ve got me thinking!
Thank you, so it's not just me. It' IS their bug, not my plugins 😅
I experienced the exact same issues yesterday.
Also some 3rd Party plugins won‘t show up anymore as if they weren‘t even installed- so no red thumbnail just gone!
I love FCP but I always wonder how come their developer team do not experience these issues dudes like us have right after updating…
Hope they release some fix soon!🎉
After updating to version 11.0 I still got the freeze bug every time :( I hope they will fix this soon!

Haven’t had any serious bugs, but it definitely seems less stable in general.
Hi. How can we go about the text bug? It hangs FCPX when i try to edit the text. is there any solution?
There are some settings you can disable on the Trackpad in the Settings app (my pinned comment mentions them) or you can grab a mouse and everything in the Viewer will work normally. You can also use the Inspector to change text, adjust position and scale, etc.

skimming is weird in 10.7.
