One of the best and most memorable bass lessons ever! (For me.)
Saw it a year or two ago, short after I started bass.
Coming back today.
Sleepless dreams last night: who did really impress me most? Making most sense? Telling me, what it is all about. WHY - and therefore: how? Putting the purpose back into music, into my playing the bass.
One clear answer was in my mind, when it was time to get up. Remebering after 1-2 years: Nik West and something like "Make the booties move"!
Yeah: that's it:
The full and heavy ONE - and then a simple lick in staccato. WOW! Enough space! No overload! Nothing which distracts and overpowers. No tsunami. "Less is more", "pauses are notes" ...
Yeah - the bass as a vital part of the rhythm section.Just giving a clear and easy groove, which goes direcly into the feet and bodies of whoever is around.

This video is pretty helpful. I'm a 50 year old guitarist that because of arthritis is now having a hard time articulating chords on the guitar. I thought about buying a bass since I always like to play it every now and then anyway because well sometimes you just got to get low. Since I can still do double note stops and stuff like that on the guitar I figured playing bass would still be kind of fun and would keep me in the playing Loop. I like videos like this because they really give me something to work with. Also Nik West is totally hot and makes my booty want to move.
