I love this. In their concerts they always have a stripped back, one mic song where you can hear a pin drop, which of course means you get to hear their incredible harmonies and the way they sing as one. You can tell they are fully in tune with each other, not just on stage, but in their life experience. It really is intimate and stunning in its simplicity.

They sang this in their New Jersey concert. No mics just their voices, told the audience that since it was such a large arena they hoped the very back could hear them. They had their eyes closed in a circle and just listened to each other as they sang. It was Amazing.

This is when PTX is at their best - stripped back with just their amazing ability to create beautiful harmonies.

This was simply beautiful. Kirstin (aka Kirstie I guess) voice was just wonderful as all of them were. Thank you.

Love the songs where there is 5 part harmony. Normally Kevin is beatboxing and Matt doing a baseline. Here, Mitch, Kirstie, and Scott start…the Kevin and Matt build to the harmonies.

This new album shows the growth of individual PTX members. Kirstie *had* to sing harmony early on because she excelled at it. I suspect young Scott got a lot of lead roles both in community theater and in school. He had to learn how to harmonize after they formed PTX. Mitch appeared to me as the shy one of the group in the beginning. He probably had a some lead vocals growing up, but a lot of harmony, too. Scott and Mitch's side project of "Superfruit" required them both to learn to arrange music and perform vocal harmonies -- they traded off lead and harmony in their songs.
Kevin is a vocal beast. He taught himself to beatbox before he joined PTX, but realized on the Sing Off that he needed to get better, and did. I understand he studied singing with Avi while they were roommates. Bless Avi for encouraging Kevin to sing. Our souls are enriched by the five part harmonies they can pull off in any style of music. Both Matt and Avi are college trained musicians, both have also continued to improve. Scott said around their ten year anniversary that they have a ten year plan to make music. I enjoy what they've done so far, and can't wait to see what they do next.

I love how they end on a I6/4 chord with Matt singing the 5th on the bottom!

Found this PTX video with no mics. th-cam.com/video/Hg9vn5VZe54/w-d-xo.html . Thought you might like it . Only one member change: You'll hear the original bass singer (Avi Kaplan) of Pentatonix who left the band in 2017 due to family and personal issues. He focuses on Folk/ Alternative music now. He writes and arranges his own music. He is known for his rich bass vocals. He is 1 note short of a 5 octave range.
