I have theorised that the rebellion may have been sponsored by PD since the beginning in an attempt to prevent the destruction of Earth, which simply spun out of control.
The shattering of PD was a last resort to stop the killing and likely staged. But then her sisters flipped and nuked Earth in retaliation.
I think it possible that PD was never shattered but simply hidden by Rose in the lockbox in Lion. Because Rose could not kill her Diamond and she could not let her out, either for several reasons. Firstly the CG were very radicalised after the endless war. Being told the truth would have shattered their world. And PD could not have lived with the fallout of her decision that destroyed the entire gem population of earth, turning them into monsters. Remember how much Rose avoided conflict and humored Pearl.
why on earth would she ask her to do that?
Maybe she knew that it was maybe the only way to get homeworld to retreat, or perhaps she couldn't live with the idea of earth being destroyed so she decided to 'die' on the planet she loved?
I'm with ye on the possibility that PD was just poofed and not shattered. Bismuth was angry Rose WOULDN'T use the invention to shatter gems and had designed a sword specifically for Rose that would NEVER shatter gems. If all of that does reflect back on PD's personality like the theory in this video suggests, maybe she did tell Rose to somehow stage the shattering, since the only gem who claims to have witnessed it first-hand was one of the gullible Ruby soldiers. For all we know, you're right; maybe she IS bubbled safely away in the locked chest.

My gemsona is under White diamond. Her name is Zircon. Though, she has been stationed somewhere in space since before the rebellion, so she has no idea about Pink Diamond being shattered, and still uses the old authority symbol. So even still, she probably has a bit of her own personality now that she has been away from her diamond for so long.
Edkraze I think the colors of the diamonds reflect their personalities. Blue- Usually derived with sadness, tranquillity, calm, and wise, all traits we can see in Blue Diamond and her subjects(Exception to Holly Blue Salt Augite).Yellow- A color of Joy, Excitement, or in a case "electric" personalities, showing higher emotion and expression of other feelings, most of Yellow Diamonds subjects have a bit more pep or fire to them if you will, like tiny shocks in their hearts. Pink- So far, we've seen traits of Compassion, Expression, Emotion, and Caring, but not completely harmless or innocent, like Rose. I think White will reflect the base state of gems, like all gems are under White Diamond until they "change color" and go to a new diamond based on some analysis. I think thats why White Diamond might be so powerful, she's the birthmother, the start of all gems. Picture it like White gems being a blank canvas ready for masterpieces to be made, or an empty plate ready to be filled with a delicious meal. Its the base, the starting point. And those that dont really show much a gear toward any gem, or stay loyal to White Diamond are kept with White Diamond, reflecting a personality of neutrality, average, basic, no excessive crying, no short temper, just blank.

Here's a little theory of mine than popped into mind after watching the bomb. Some people think it's a stretch, but all I did was fill the gaps that seemed to connect. Hear me out for a second. And if anyone is wondering, I copied this post from an earlier comment of mine in another video, with some parts added or tweaked.
So the story begins...
Pink Diamond helped her sisters colonize planets for Homeworld and Gemkind. She took part in the creation of Kindergartens but never took a planet of her own. She was picky and sentimental that way. Because unlike her sisters, she wanted it to be a special planet, not just another colony like the plans on the Moonbase revealed.
Eventually she found that special planet in Earth. She landed and saw how life flourished
there. In particular, she saw how humans lived in ways all too different from how gems lived. This got her curious, so she established "the Zoo" to study humans.
After years of study and research, it clicked in her mind. I think what she was inspired to do was create gems that could think, care and feel like humans.Or at the very least, learn enough from humans so Pink could run gem society in similar free spirited manner.
This is why Earth Amethysts and Jaspers are such interesting, colorful and varied individuals. In comparison, all the other gems under Homeworld are loyal, subservient, and for the most part, cut out of a specific made-to-order mold for their Diamonds in order to fit specific roles. You can see the contrast in difference between the attitudes and characters of Holly Blue Agate and the Earth Amethysts and Jaspers.
Then after even more years of research, finally, a breakthrough. A discovery that would create an actual human-like gem. And that gem would become our Rose Quartz.
From here, Pink Diamond could have either made her from scratch or chosen a rose quartz gem to modify who was already made on Earth. Either case this would tie in well with what Bismuth said about Rose being "made right here in the dirt." This would also explain why as a singular gem she looks the most human.
Only there was one more thing left.
At this point you can start calling me crazy, because I'm thinking either Rose Quartz as the first ever human-like gem, needed to undergo one final step to become complete, or Pink Diamond herself was so infatuated with humanity that she saw Rose as a gateway towards that entirely new experience. Either way, Pink Diamond gave a piece of herself to Rose, which meant her own definitive end.
That last segment I mentioned is complete speculation on my part, so it could have gone some other way with reason for Pink getting shattered. For the most part this is a blank section I chose to fill with some wild yet probable guesses and a good dose of wishful thinking.
However you choose to fill that part up, that's when Eyeball and the other gems came in. They took scope of the scene and assumed that their Diamond had been betrayed and shattered by a usurper, the latter of which was functionally the case.
Having been made from a part of Pink Diamond herself, it would explain all these magnificent powers manifesting in a lowly quartz gem. And these powers are namely; healing tears, floating, command of the light cannons, creation of sentient plant life, possession of the bodies of other living things, peering into the dreams of others, and seeing what Diamonds can sees.
Aside from special powers such as Sapphire's future vision which vary from gem to gem,
gems have four general innate abilities, which are the abilities to summon a weapon, bubble, shapeshift, and fuse with other gems. But seeing as Steven can already do those, this means that he has a total of 11 gem powers at his disposal.
Having a part of Pink Diamond inside her would also partly explain the complexity Rose's room, and also explain how the Crystal Gems were able to put up such a good fight in spite of being outnumbered by Homeworld. Perhaps this might even explain Lion's existence as one of her 1st organic experiments as well.
The new episodes also seem to back this theory up to an extent, because all the other rose quartz' were gathered up in Pink Diamond's room. Meanwhile Rose herself is the only example of her gem type we've seen, let alone the only single gem so far that looks near human. Since we've yet to see other rose quartz' and what they look like, they could be slightly different from Rose to signify how she was engineered to be more human-like, which could be something the show is leading up to. They might even have an entirely different voice actor for other rose quartz to symbolize this.
Here's an addendum, for anyone who's followed my line of thinking so far.
A lot of that theory simply came from theories and clues that were already existing/discovered.
First off, Rose as a quartz clearly has some connection to the Diamonds because she is seen fending White Diamond off with a pink diamond-shaped relic. Also considering Pink Diamond's leaked mural, most people already speculate that she had something to do or possibly had a specialty with Kindergarten development and gem creation because of her gem being positioned on her navel, which is symbolically maternal.
I make this connection to Rose because she was able to give birth to Steven. And
since she and Jasper, who is considered a perfect quartz, both served under her, this would further cement her close connection to
Pink Diamond.
Also I never really believed that any of the Diamonds were evil. At this point, the show has made it quite clear that forgiveness and acceptance are just a couple of its many core themes, which is why there are no definite bad guys as of yet. Just a cast of interesting characters with conveniently clashing agendas.
Yellow and Blue are simply two gems who are still upset over the loss of their sister, one more so than the other, while trying to rule their parts of gem society. White Diamond might still be evil, but that is only because she hasn't made an appearance yet. I specify White Diamond in particular because the bomb recently revealed that Yellow and Blue are clearly on the same side, and that Peridot mentioned that there is a truce of some sort in the episode 'Message Received.'
As for Lion, I believe he might be one of Pink Diamond's experiments to see if organic life can hold the same powers as gems. So far, he has 3 powers, which are the ability to summon portals, perform sonic roars, and hold pocket dimensions in his mane.
When she realized that organic life was just as flexible and powerful as gems, possibly more so in certain ways, Pink Diamond decided to see if she can actually make gems more organic as well, either in making an actual human-like gem, which turned out to be Rose, or conduct gem society more like humanity did.
Eventually like I mentioned she got that crazy idea to want to become human herself and stick a part of her in Rose to experience that by extension.
Anywho, I digress. This could also explain that while she had founded the Prime Kindergarten on more or less perfect grounds, her amethysts have such peculiar gem placements like the cheek or shoulder, etc...
Pink Diamond may have also went on to establish the Beta Kindergarten on a similar premise. The Beta gems that came from its irregular ground were imperfect like Carnelian and Skinny, and some of them even came out of their holes in weird ways. Still she accepted them anyway, because they added so much character and attitude to the Amethysts who all seemed to be the same sizes.
Then lo and behold, Jasper popped out of the Beta Kindergarten. Like it was hinted at, she could have gotten to know Rose as Pink Diamond slowly tinkered on Rose's gem to make her more human, and as they served her together. Jasper might even be the reason Pink Diamond thought Earth was so special, because such a perfect quartz had come out of a such a flawed place like the Beta Kindergarten. Like Anton Ego said in Ratatouille, "not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere."

PaszerDye I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but I heard that only other diamonds can shatter another diamond? So...either rose DOES have a part of diamond in her and that's how she was able to shatter her or....another diamond actually was the one...maybe white? We don't know much about her right now but we do know that rose is depicted as fighting her so obviously she's not a nice diamond. And, let's say the theory about pearl being white diamond's is right, pearl's fight and drive and strength and warrior-like attitude could be a reflection of white's own personality. Maybe SHE was the one who shattered her sister???

That claim though, that 'only a diamond can shatter another diamond,' it might be just the gems putting their leaders in such high regard. No gem has ever probably questioned or challenged the diamonds before Rose did. So a diamond's strength as a single gem isn't really known to the masses.
Though as I stated in my theory, Pink Diamond willingly gave a piece of her gem to Rose. So if only a diamond could shatter a diamond, then she shattered herself and gave a piece to Rose, at which point other gems come in and assume that she had shattered Pink Diamond by herself. On the other hand, if a diamond could shattered by any other gem, it still happened that way.
So whether this is objective fact or gems putting their leaders on a high pedestal, in regards to Pink Diamond's shattering and effective death, it kinda works either way.
i know this sounds crazy but ever since i saw rose quartz i thought she was actually pink diamond shapeshifted and that she was able to shapeshift her own gem too, to look like a rose quartz

My theory goes one step further. the reason why they spend so much time specifically looking at Steven's dream walk and body switch abilities. The reason Rose Quartz had some many powers for what is basically just a glorified amethyst. Pink Diamond body-switched with a Rose Quartz.
and maybe that's the reason why Steven was able to cry Blue Diamond's tears because he has the abilty that once belonged to his mom which originally belonged to Pink Diamond. A part of Pink Diamond is actually in Steven and seeing that Blue and Pink Diamond once had a very close relationship, Pink is able to feel Blue's emotions. I think the theory that Pink Diamond had swapped consciousness with Rose Quartz before she was shattered really is interesting and i think is a really REALLY great plot twist

There is a problem with your zoo part though. Both garnet, pearl and holly blue said it wasn't like how it was now. Both Garnet and Pearl said it was an awful insidious place. And Holly Blue said humans didn't take well to captivity, and it changed. We know BD was in control of the zoo before it changed, as Holly blue basically talks about how she had to help change it once they understood more about humans. So all of this can determine that Pink actually didn't care about the humans happiness. Or at the very least, didn't understand it. Which, could be a big problem with your theory.
I personally think PD was ruthless to all except her other diamonds. I think PD had a God complex. Where she felt she was better than anyone else. She wouldn't let others opinions influence her. Which is why she had a zoo in the first place. Like a trophy room. To take all the dominate species from her colonies (unfortunately only one) and put them where she could look at them, and make them realize they are here because someone better than them was able to defeat them.
I then feel like all her gems are like that because the way they are treated. All the amethyst act like that, because most came out wrong, (which I believe is due to being rushed as PD wanted it done as soon as possible so she could conquer more planets) or because they are treated badly do to being reassigned a diamond.
dogs, this is a great post. If Pink was so kind and reasonable, Why did Rose feel that she had to be shattered? If Pink wanted to preserve the Earth and the humans on it, It would make more sense for Rose and Pink to pool their resources, train more humans to fight, and prepare for a fight against Homeworld. The problem with Homeworld is that they are far too cruel to their follow gems. Their cruelty have gone so far that they are actually shattering more gems than they are able to produce. Homeworld's "solution" to this math is conquer more planets, which leads to more death of sentient life and almost an sick encouragement to shatter which is "Hey, we can shatter more gems, we just colonized a planet!" If the Diamonds thought that there wasn't going major clap back either a planet and/or from other gems, they are more delusional than anyone gave them credit for.

That's exactly what I thought too. I only didn't put it down, because some might say that PD was so kind, and realized she needed to be shattered in order for Homeworld to leave them alone. And while, I think this is wrong, I left it out because I can't disprove it. But yeah I agree with that.

dogs, The zoo concept reveals that Pink Diamond at saw humans as an conquered species at best and pets at worst. You see, A person can be very kind to a pet and go through mourning period when they die; However, a person WILL NEVER SEE A PET AS A BEING OF EQUAL WORTH. Pink thought humans were incapable of autonomy and need to told what to do at all times. That is not respecting human life; it's objectifying it.

OH MY GOSH!!! The whole time I thought Yellow Diamond was saying "What's the use of feeling, Blue?" I'm wicked glad you brought that up because I thought everyone else thought the other way and I was on my own
Pink Diamond pose is also very much in a pose of like a ballerina. I had the same theory as you, and that maybe even Rose learned much of her beliefs from Pink Diamond herself. The idea for Pink Diamond is that she's colonizing for her species, which is a basic nature for all living beings. Humans expand territory to create more homes for their kind, normally in doing so wiping out the native populations. Humans might have been very primitive back in the day where they were pretty much seen as animals, and Pink wanted to preserve them as we do today.
The twist of the whole war though is that I am guessing White Diamond might have set something up. We've seen blue and yellow, but they have not really shown themselves to be too militaristic. I have the feeling that White Diamond is the pure war mongering leader that manages the empire's armies, and is the one that does real invasions against higher leveled beings to take control of their planets. We've seen murals where it looks like Rose is fighting White Diamond, and during the giant white flash that Centipeedle drew I want to say that was White Diamond's orders. The white picture could be seen as just the flash, but taking a guess here that Centipeedle was displaying that it was White Diamond's order. And here's where I'm really going out there, but what if White Diamond setup the war and the death of Pink Diamond when in fact she actually wanted to eliminate Pink Diamond for being different and possibly conflicting with White Diamond's point of view. Also, maybe the main pearl we know is really a spy of White Diamond's.
this is kinda unrelated but i find yellow diamond quite militaristic, from the way she dresses, gives orders, and was in charge of the Earth's cluster. i think most people agree that she is in charge of military/technology in the diamond quartet.
oh yeah, in Hit the Diamond peridot says yellow diamond's in control of homeworld's entire military.

First of all, 5000 years doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of time, Humanity's existence is just a blip. 2nd, For a space traveling civilization, humanity is the lowest tiered civilization still. At that time Humanity would still be a tier 7, the lowest technological civilization since there has been no industrialization yet and people are still scattered, while the Gems are a Tier 1 civilization more than capable of creating life, worlds, and slipspace navigation.

Actually, the war ENDED about 5000 years ago. I don't think we've even been told when it started. Looking at early episodes, Pearl likes to talk about significant gem sites as if all the action was just last week, as if 5000 years just flew by the way humans wonder where the weekend went.
The way I see it, it's not at all unlikely that the war went on for several thousand years, placing the human level of primitive somewhere around "recently discovered agriculture" when the war started.

I've been wondering... It's easy to assume that Homeworld is basically space North Korea, and that all of the Rose Quartz gems were punished because of the one Rose Quartz that shattered Pink Diamond, not unlike how in some countries ( like North Korea ), if somebody commits a crime, their whole family is punished. But it doesn't make a lot of sense to me how one Rose Quartz just suddenly went rouge and started a rebellion, whereas the rest of them stayed loyal. It's also worth noting there's a possibility that many Rose Quartz's have probably been to Earth before, considering that Pink Diamond appears to have control of only one planet in her mural, and Blue Diamond confirmed that she owned Earth according to the Diamond Authority.
What I'm getting at is, what if a large amount, or even *all* the Rose Quartz's became rouge, and the Rose we know was just the ringleader of the operation, but not the only Rose Quartz? That would explain why they're all bubbled for starters, and it'd certainly expand on and to an extent, justify Yellow Diamonds' desire to shatter them. Furthermore, if all of the same type of gems have similar personality traits, there's no reason this couldn't be possible.

I was worried at first that my pet theory would be directly contradicted, but this latest Steven Bomb just further convinced me that Rose was actually Pink Diamond incarnate. Every little thing seems to hint at it! That's how it seems to me, anyway.

Steven is already Rose incarnate, so why would our Rose Quartz be a Diamond???
Alright, let's examine my case file.
First, the only known witness to Pink Diamond's shattering was Eyeball, a Ruby known for being incredibly easy to trick. She even related the tale while walking right next to a gem impersonating one of her idols. Also, she later went on to mention Rose's sword... a sword which, according to Bismuth, was specifically designed to never shatter gems.
Second, it's been established that Rose kept secrets from even her closest allies. BIG secrets, like Lion and Bismuth. The extent of her duplicity is an unfolding narrative within the show that has yet to be fully revealed.
Now, third, let's examine what we learned in the last Bomb. Look at the Zoo. Pearl described it as a terrible place where Pink Diamond kept "trophies," but that's not at all what it looks like. It's more along the lines of a petting zoo designed to cater to the needs of the humans within, coddling them to an almost unhealthy degree. The place was made with an emphasis on nurturing and protecting its inhabitants.
I envision Pink Diamond coming to regard the sapient inhabitants of "her" world with fascination, and later with love, like pets. So much so that she wants to preserve them. But she eventually sees them as more than that, and can no longer be satisfied merely with taking a token collection while the rest of humanity perishes. This inspires her to take a more drastic step to end Earth's conversion altogether.
Faking her death would make sense for a variety of reasons. For one thing, if Pink Diamond declared a break from the will of the other three authority figures then every gem devoted to her could feel compelled to act on her behalf. For all we know this could lead to a war of one fourth of their entire race against the rest, a massive conflict spanning worlds. But by posing as a lower gem and removing her status from the equation, she could ensure that the only gems who became rebels would be ones honestly devoted to protecting the Earth, and not forced by political allegiance, thus lessening the overall conflict. As for all the gems wanting revenge for Pink Diamond's death, well, Earth is kind of like Thermopylae. They only need to protect one little planet, and only so many invaders can attack a single world at a time.
Now, how would she fake her death? One theory floated by a guy on Tumblr called Official Scotch Tape is that Steven's power to possess bodies isn't a gift common to Quartz soldiers, but rather an exotic Diamond ability which she used to take the body of one of her soldiers through which she would come to be known as the rebel leader.
But hey, all of this could still be wrong, I might just be shooting in the dark. Still, there's one final point which came up during the Bomb which convinces me just that much more.
WHY was Steven CRYING? Why did he have an automatic psychic link with Blue Diamond, one so strong that her mere arrival on Earth prompted a sympathetic physical reaction? It's not just a gem thing. He doesn't cry anyone else's tears (at least not to such a degree), and none of the other gems seemed to experience any such reaction to a Diamond's presence.
Doesn't this suggest that there's an uncommon connection here? Like the close bond between a particular, powerful class of gems?
Blue and Yellow Diamond both clearly felt very strongly for Pink Diamond. So much that they still mourn for her, even after millennia. She seemed to inspire love and devotion... a lot like Rose Quartz.
Like I say, I could be wrong. But I can't bring myself to dismiss the notion, and I don't think anyone else should either. Because it seems to me like we've been given all the clues we need to believe that Pink Diamond just might have lived much, much longer than any of her friends or enemies suspected.

Excellent theory, I still believe this too! We've had SO many hints at this and honestly I think the Crewniverse is intentionally giving us a false herring for the "big reveal" later on.
Pink Diamond's stuff has floral design all over it, her bedroom with all the RQs her planiquin/carriage thing. We also see Rose's emblem has a diamond shapes in the center of the rose for both her flag and shield. We've seen Steven activate the control-point for the moon-base that is assumed only for Diamonds (Though Peridot says "elite" gems not to give it away).
We also have that mind-swapping power which is quite crucial to this theory. Even what we've learned of PD's behavior - saving humans, bubbling the RQs it sounds VERY much like Rose. PD mind-swapping to become an ordinary RQ that was especially designed then Rose deciding to become half-human just fits the chain of evolution. PD was fascinated with organic life and wanted to be different then the other Diamonds, she wanted to challenge the status quo.
BUT, this could all be false and it really is as simple as Diamonds can be taken down by an ordinary Quartz Soldier. It feels like alot of wasted foreshadowing and build-up though and less interesting.
Those aren't problems, they're just not yet explained. Nothing indicates that the answers would contradict the theory.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pearl turned out to be Pink Diamond's former servant, supposedly "liberated" by Rose, never suspecting that the gem she fell in love with was the mistress she thought she'd escaped. It's worth noting that, just as Blue Diamond seemed sad and sympathetic but was capable of being a strict ruler willing to shatter her underlings, Pink Diamond may have put forth a different persona while in a position of authority, only indulging her gentler, kinder side when she was freed from her responsibilities by embracing Rose Quartz's identity. Pearl certainly seemed to think of her as a villain, convinced at first that the Zoo was a dark, shameful relic of war rather than the cozy little place that it actually was. This is still more evidence that Pink Diamond had a dual nature.
Or perhaps Pearl was "owned" by Rose and Pink Diamond's Pearl is just somewhere else, either long gone or waiting to be revealed in a future episode. In any case, her presence or absence doesn't necessarily impact the "equation."
Similarly, there may be an explanation for Lion that's just as incidental. Perhaps he was an experiment in corruption which Rose was secretly performing in the desert. Or perhaps there IS a tie to Pink Diamond. That guy I mentioned, Official Scotch Tape, suggested that Lion may be the manifestation of Pink Diamond's own vacant gem, used as a secret storage space by Rose in the same way that Pearl seems to store things in her own gem's pocket dimension.

Pink's character might have been the most interesting of the diamonds. I believe she represented a self-justified goddess figure. she believed that everything she did and felt was right, and all was below her because of her power and kindness. she kept her gems close because they were amusing and proof of her benevolence, but nothing other than a diamond was ever comparable to herself, and therefor their opinions were ignorable. Pink believed she was perfect.

like I've said before, the diamonds are each traits. yellow is strength, blue is beauty, white is brains, pink was feelings. and I'm assuming that they give each other council on matters they specialize. given that pink is gone now, the other three don't have her to help work out their feelings.
and i still do believe they fuse as the corruption song. the fact that it was imperfect was because they were a 3/4ths perfect fusion.
I'd like to think that she really was a kind person in general, but this kindnesses can be a flaw too. If we look at "We Need To Talk" It shows that Rose herself didn't really understand humans despite saying she loved them. It could have very well been the same for pink diamond, who made the zoo in hopes to keep the remaining humans happy, yet not understanding their pain of wanting to be free.
There is also the idea that, despite being a loving person in general, she really was willing to make some sacrifices to keep her home (Homeworld) safe. I mean, given what Peridot said about lack of resources, earth could have been Homeworld's Hope to avert this. Pink Diamond may have had some love for the earth, but there was no doubt in my mind that she loved her home and her sisters more. But she still felt guilty about it, which caused her to create the zoo as her only means of apology to the humans for ruining their home.
In fact, I feel like that's why she bubbled the Rose Quartz's (It's pink. It has to be her). Given how deeply involved they were to nature and humanity, seeing it all destroyed would have broken them. Bubbling them so that they wouldn't see the inevitable may have also been her form of mercy for teh gems. Only Rose was able to NOT get bubbled (I don't know how. But that's ot the point) and saw what they were gonna do.
So in the end, I don't think Pink Diamond was bad in a sense. But I don't think she had much of a choice either. I mean, logically speaking, wouldn't you do anything to keep you home safe and Happy?

I think Pink Diamond was like the Little Voice - loving, protecting, but in a completely patronizing way. Delighted and entertained by human/organic novelty but not fully respecting of it, an extreme version of the way Rose was before she meant Greg. Unable to understand that some suffering is part of life, an important part, otherwise she wouldn't have kidnapped humans and put them in a zoo where they were eventually bred to be heavily infantalized.
Happy belated Birthday Otaku! Also, another great video! During the Zoo, any time the earrings glowed and that voice spoke, I have a sinking suspicion we just heard Pink Diamond's voice. I'm also increasingly interested in finding out if any of those other Rose Quartz's will ever be unbubbled and we'll get to find out what they're like. My only thing on those would be while they might be very much similar to Steven's Mom, she also lived on earth for 5000+ years, plus the Gem War, so they might be clueless and have a sort of 'innocence' to them that Rose didn't seem to have, from what we've seen in the show so far. Steven's Mom had seen some stuff, and a lot of it in her time, so with the possibility of other Rose Quartz's being around, we might see a whole knew side to that gem type, if we're given the opportunity too, that is. I would say Jasper constantly fighting during the gem war, having to deal with Pink diamond's shattering, and following under Yellow Diamond may have turned her into what she is now. Or maybe she was always like this and simply didn't have any room to be as free-spirited and chill as the Amethysts from the Prime Kindergarden. Jasper was made in Beta which was implied to be hastily put together at the last minute due to the war happening at that point in time. She probably hasn't had the opportunity to experience much good in her life in general.

My own thoughts on YD's song are that; unlike Blue who is clearly emotionally distraught by Pink's shattering. Yellow instead suppressed her emotions regarding Pink's death - this is most evident at the end of her song; her expression and body language convey true emotional pain, but she is unwilling to shed tears and instead has to push forward.
Yet despite this, Yellow is far from over the death of Pink; each time we've seen her, she has mentioned the cluster; but more importantly - the destruction of Earth. Yellow seeks to remove or rid herself of anything that can remind her of Pink: The Earth, the countless bubbled Rose Quartz and the Zoo. All these things are constant reminders of one she lost, if she's rid of it, she does not have feel the pain anymore.
I like to believe this as it makes her seem more human. When a loved dies, people react differently; some will cling to everything that loved one owned in a attempt to still keep that person there, but sometimes it only prolongs the grief (BD). Meanwhile others will sell or destroy the belongings, as they feel it will release them from their grief (YD).
That's just my own take on Yellow and her song. Great video and happy birthday (several days late).

You forgot to mention the placement of her gem. There's a lot of theories about gem placing affecting their personalities, and so far all characters we've seen with their gemstones on their navy (a place associated with intuition and feeling), such as Steven, Rose and that one Ruby from the Roaming Eye are sweet, curious, cute individuals who love the Earth. And, where does Pink Diamond have her gem on...?
I was up late one night and rewatching the first and second seasons of S.U....both me and my room mate believe that Pink Diamond had changed her mind about colonizing Earth. her and her Rose Quartz decided that they wanted to preserve its natural and organic beauty, which is why she has the human zoo. she knew that the cluster was going to emerge at some point in the future which is why she made that zoo in the first place.
on a second note, remember that episode where Steven and Amethyst were watching the communication hub and Steven showed Amethyst that if you blur your eyes you can see a "magic sausage" between them and how she couldnt see it with only one eye? i could be overanalyzing this but think about eyeball. she has one eye. it would be hard for her to see what she thinks she saw.
going against that, we all know that Rose didnt want to shatter gems. her sword is made to poof gems and she even poofed her own teem mate because of the threat of other gems being shattered because of it. BUT. Since the Diamond authority wasnt going to leave, Rose came to a difficult decision of shattering pink diamond in front of the other three diamonds which made them flee earth. after the corruption song, i believe that Rose used her healing tears to fix Pink Diamonds gem, then sealing her in a bubble and placing her in the chest which is in Lions mane. she sealed her away because if the Diamons found out that she was still alive they would have came back and attacked Earth again.

I have only seen a little bit of the video, but Amethysts do not belong to a specific court, nor do Jaspers or peridots. They all can belong to any diamond. Saphire and Lapis can only belong to blue diamond because they are blue, the gems have to be the same exact color as their diamond to belong to only that diamond

here we go! i think Blue diamond found Pink diamond on accident while colonizing earth at first considering that its mostly water. side track: Blue diamond was somehow disconnected for emotional reasons from the others (since emotion is kind of seen as a weakness among diamonds.) Anyway upon finding her Blue reported her to White diamond who in turn introduced her to homeworld and Pinks new status as a diamond and her role of being so.( born a queen, and didnt want to be?) Pink was possibly mischievous and needed a strict role model due to Blues inadequacy and White busy with homeworld(as well as her other planets) hence assigning her to Yellow. once Yellow saw potential she assigned Pink to earth for colonizing, only seeing it fit that she colonize the world she originated from. Blue maybe saw Pink as a opportunity to reconnect with the authority, having a deep bond with Pink already, then eventually connecting to the other diamonds once more. Pinks birth brought the authority together. i also think, our pearl was a gift to Pink for the unity of the authority from White. Maybe once receiving the pearl she was disturbed how trained/brainwashed pearl was compared to her Gems on earth? Pink placed her with a rose quartz ( which may resemble pink diamonds personality being both born on earth) to integrate her to the joy of earth and free will? Pink may have staged the shattering knowing that earth would never be left alone and eventually destroyed from colonization. working with Rose and Pearl to see the plan through? maybe all the rose's were bubble because they didnt know which one did it?? thats all i got for now - Meghan
ps; perhaps the zoo was an excuse to slow- down the colonizing of the earth. the earthlings going there knew that and basically "sacrificed" themselves? there is writing above the first door in the zoo!? it looks korean?

future boy zoltron:: Pink does something bad on homeworld and has to do something in return for recompense in doing so, sees the turmoil in the diamonds relationship. pink helps Blue and Yellow reunite they kinship.
Last one out of beach city ::Pink and rose get to know each other better and bend the rules, Pink realizes how much danger they caused learned why she loves earth and what it creates, pink establishing her friendship with rose? not typical Diamond behavior to sympathize with lesser gems.
Onion Gang ::after Pink has been doing things on her own for some time and not seeing her objective clearly she is shown around the inner workings of being a diamond( or for steven being a kid) and her full purpose and (ups and downs of childhood) expectations earth.
Gem harvest:: seeing Pinks process, blue and yellow diamond were trying to create rose quartz soldiers on their planets(envious of rose quartz color or gem abilities?).Pink shows them how she does it on earth.(they cant recreate it reguardless) rose watches and is a bit traumatized? thats far fetched... eventually they find out how its done.white comes along to also see the process. and on a level disagrees with something/ White diamond represents (andy??) - M, kinda far flung but whatever.:)
Because we don't know much about pink diamond we can only interpret what she could have been. As he said before gems hold an emotional connection in certain ways. Yellow pearl is sarcastic and temper minded such as Yellow Diamond, Blue Pearl calm and collective like Blue Diamond, so it is safe to assume Rose Quartz inherited Pink Diamonds curiosity of life and humans.
By definition Rose Quartz was not perfect. She had flaws such as not understanding emotions and compassion like how Greg felt about her and she intentionally ignored how Pearl felt about her. Rose was willing to bubble Bismuth so she didn't get in the way of her plans for earth and the rebellion. Each move she made had been planned and calculated by trial and error. Rose may have been the sweet loving gem we all knew but she had a dark side to her. Who is to say Pink Diamond didn't act the same?
They had colonized other planets for over a millennium and Pink Diamond never felt any emotional ties to any of those planets with perhaps life forms on them. She allowed for planets to be destroyed for the better of gem kind. She, like Rose, felt destroying life on other planets was alright and it wouldn't interfere with her plans.
When Steven used his mother's room to materialize her so he could speak to her, he pointed out how he felt towards her. He talked about his feelings about the whole situation with him being created. He felt she only created him so he would take her place and tie up her loose ends. The materialized Rose told him she made him out of love but it leaves it all up to speculation. She was a figment of how he thought she would be. The loving, kind words of endearment she told him were things he wanted to hear from her had she been around. Personally we got to see her dark side. She did make him on purpose, his birth had been calculated and planned. She made him to fill in her role and deal with the problems she couldn't face herself. The saying "we need a fresh pair of eyes", applies to why she made Steven. She had known things were going to come back and bite her in the future and felt someone needed to fill in her role. The chance of Steven being born gave her that opportunity.
If all the gems hold traits of their Diamonds, who isn't to say that Rose didn't inherit that malicious trait from her Diamond. I'm not saying Pink Diamond is evil but she certainly only did things she felt was necessary to help her people and she pushed others in order to get there. I'm not meaning to offend anyone, its just my personal opinion.

If the humans have been in the zoo for thousands of years and the Choosening determines who reproduces with who, certain traits such as aggression may have been bred out of them. Strange that there would be so few of them, though. What we saw was far too small to be a viable gene pool. Unless, there are other groups scattered throughout the habitat.
This is true that most Ruby's are short tempered, and most Pearls are salty, but maybe gems are supposed to have traits of their leaders. If Rose Quartz belonged to Pink Diamond, and Pink Diamond was kind to her, why would Rose shatter Pink Diamond? Now I'm not saying Rose belonged to Pink Diamond, but if she did belong to Pink Diamond, Pink Diamond being all good to her, would Rose still shatter Pink Diamond for her own reasons of being a rebel/ Crystal Gem? Basically, who is Roses diamond?
the strangest part is that yellow dimond questions blue about not wanting to shatter the rest of the rose quartz, but blue said that she wouldn't because it was pink diamond who bubbled them, and why would pink diamond give deffective gems a chance to work for her when they are considered useless ?
Well I would assume that meant that Pink Diamond didn't agree that they were "useless" and valued imperfections in her court. Or at least she wasn't as hung-up about defective gems as Yellow Diamond.

What if the rose quartzes were the caretakers of the humans? According to steven's powers so far, they can grow tons of plant food overnight, heal human flesh, and bubble and shield things. Early humans tried to escape, and a sharp weapon wouldn't be very good at shoving humans back into an enclosure. If any human got hurt, they could heal them. The artificial ecosystem might collapse, they could grow more. They would love humans too, so Rose makes sense.

Hopefully y'all can follow my stream of conscience, but here's my thoughts. (There is a point at the end.) I feel the reason the humans weren't familiar with the concept of "hurt", is because "The Routine" doesn't allow for situations that would cause "hurt". That is, essentially, the whole reason for "the routine's" existence. (As an example, "The Coupling" breaks relationships down to a basic, generic level, where "love" is not involved... no breakups to cause pain, later on down the road, etc.) Maybe PD wanted to shield humans from pain. Though misguided, she probably thought she was doing them a favor by bringing them to the zoo and engineering a "world without hurt", but she didn't understand, that without pain, there can be no real joy. By telling others how to think and act, you homogenize society to the point where emotions become useless... but at least there's no hurt. (Consequently, this is also probably why BD was shocked to see Greg being so empathetic. The humans at the zoo wouldn't have been able to identify with her like that.) In the grander scale, a "homogenized" society is primarily what homeworld is, where lessers are considered strickly utilitarian. Wouldn't take much for ANYBODY to defect once they saw what Earth had goin' on! Hell, PD probably thought the Humans were taking it for granted. Thematically, I feel like that jives with the overall message of the show... acceptance and understanding from all angles, the necessary evils and overcoming them, etc.) I dunno, not really sure how it all ties in yet, but this is where my brain went after the bomb.
I want Steven to show his gem to blue to make her feel better :3
