as a rider of 230lb, my pint is laughable going uphill. after watching The Float Life race a floatwheel vs the GT S-Series, and the Floathweel being able to go up the hill while the regular GT can't but the S could, I'm def going to get the floathweel next :))))
Hey Tony - very interesting and useful test apparatus that you came up with. However, I disagree a little with your methodology. I would say the disc brake device that you built is comparable to the steepness of a hill. And the portion of your weight that you are able to exert on the board is the rider weight. So let's say that you are able to apply 80 lbs. of force down on the board with your upper body, then your test method is equivalent to testing an 80 lb. rider going up a very steep hill. You can see this in your first dynamic run test on the GT - it maxed out at a speed of 10.8 km/hr (6.7 mph). Everyone knows that the GT can go much faster than that. I believe a more relevant test would have you dial back the brake load a lot (to like equivalent to a flat paved road). Then you would stand on the board and start the test ride - even better if you can find a 180 lb. test rider. Get the wheel speed up to a cruising speed of something like 24 km/hr (15 mph). Then you slowly increase the brake load (steepness of the hill) while the test rider keeps leaning forward to maintain the same speed, and see at what brake load (hill steepness) the board nosedives. I realize this test is a little less safe with you or the test rider standing on the board, but your apparatus is not elevated much and you are not moving, so it is not too bad - a no speed nosedive! You say you plan to do more testing and get more comprehensive data to generate curves. If you can do this alternate test procedure, it will be more relevant to what riders actually do with their boards. You could run this test at a few different ride speeds. I'm sure regardless of test method, your ADV will still be better than the GT-S and GT, however the ratios/spreads may shift somewhat with the alternate test methodology. What do you think?
sweeping dyno load test is recommend by Robert from TFL and I fully agree with, but like I said, it has nothing to do with how much weight I excert on the board, it might be anti-instinct, but as long as the tire don't spin off, and the motor is properly having load on it, the results are comparable.
I have included the 3d files of the dyno, and the torque sensor information and the power brakes in the readme.txt in the raw data file, I will upload them once we get our dyno research paper ready.

So basically the logos from the Floatwheel rail guards, but as a less expensive option than buying rail guards and cutting them up. Thanks
Dont know if your dyno has this function like a car dyno. (because you need to ramp the load over a run) But it would be really good to see the torque and power as a graph over rpm not just peak.
