Helpful video, my generator wouldn't start. Checked to see if I had spark (looked like a weak spark) but continued to check for fuel at carb, had that also checked for compression very low compression. Decided to do a leak down test to find out why the compression was low, removed the valve cover and discovered that the push rod had somehow fallen off the rocker arm. put everything back together and fired right up.
Thanks for this video. It was very good info regarding carburetor issues and cleanimg. Started first pull after I cleaned that little orifice with a tiny floss brush. Guess I need to be more diligent in running this thing every 90 days.
Thanks for walking through this process. Have done plenty of lawn mower carbs but this one was just a bit different, and now my friends generator runs great :)
Had a similar issue, have only run rec 90 fuel since new, routine maintenance etc. Just disassemble the carb for cleaning and found it was not that bad. Reassemble all and still would not start… quickly realized there was a fuel system delivery problem, drained the fuel tank and found the fuel hose was completely swollen closed inside. It’s the hose from the fuel tank outlet over to the fuel shut off valve. Removed and replaced both the 4mm ID fuel hoses and no more issues. Purchased the hose from McMaster-Carr. 1 High-Temperature Fluorosilicone Rubber Tubing for Fuel and Lubricants, 4 mm ID, 7 mm OD, 5 Feet Long 9627T817.
Check with spark plug removed and connected to spark plug lead. Ground the end of the spark plug to the engine case somewhere, then use the starter and watch for spark. Make sure you insulate your bare hands while cranking the generator for the spark test.
If the main jet was clog as bad as you say. You got lucky and didn’t take the black screw on the carb that has to be removed to clean it . There are small holes before the throttle valve that go to that black screw.
This is an excellent video, very helpful as i work on my generator that isn't running. When I loosen the drain screw for the carb bowl gas continues to come out indefinitely even with the switch in the off position. Any idea what the cause of that could be?
Thank you. That sounds like the valve that should shut the fuel off isn't doing its job. When you open the drain from the carburetor bowl and the fuel level drops, so does the float. That let's more fuel in to fill the bowl. Once filled the float rises and doesn't let anymore fuel in. If it continues to drain out when you have your main valve closed (Off), that should mean that main valve isn't working. The engine should still run though. If it doesn't than you have other issues most likely with the carburetor. Take the bowl off and push up on the float. If it stops the gas flow it's working. If it doesn't stop it then it will flood the engine and won't run.
All gasoline engines need four things: Fuel, Air, Spark, and Compression. By the process of elimination you will have to figure out what one you're missing.

Thanks for taking the time, there's a hurricane coming to Florida, very helpful!
Stay safe!

Thank you much. Just made my 3500 work with this exact solution😊. No power from Ian
Thank you for walking me through this. Works great now
Thank you for this video just fixed mine using your video. Appreciate you very much.

Did that fix your problem?
@@kbkwick yes it did
I took the fuel lines apart but didn’t see any sign of the hose collapsing. Fuel is flowing through fine. I just can’t get it restarted.
Check for spark?

That’s why I run my generator 40 minutes to an hour once a month been doing that for five years starts first time every time

I think I got a sensor problem.
So if the oil sensor triggers then it stops spark?
@@NickOvchinnikov yes that can happen
@@prodieselrepair3218 I can just unplug that sensor right . Technically no need for it .. it's mostly just a safety thing correct?
You have to put STA BIL in the gas and run once a month with a load on it.
Dude 👍 appreciate the video
Remove the control panel and disconnect the kill wire. Then when you turn it off it burns all fuel in carb and then dies.
I have a 9500 it cranks but no start any idea what it could be?

YOU LEFT THE CHOKE ON!
On some generators the choke comes off automatically when engine starts
If you would have watched the whole video you know that I did not
Awesome 🙏🙏🙏❤️😁🦊🦁🐶
