Come shop with me at Texas’ oldest and most celebrated antique furniture shopping destination. See what millions of visitors come for twice a year. I had so much fun shopping all of the barns with my little family. One day, I hope Kamari grows up saying “I’ve been antique shopping with my Mom since I was 4 and that’s why I have such fabulous taste” 😉 lol If you are obsessed with antique furniture, unique vintage finds, and specialty home decor, this video is for you! Thanks for watching! 💖
I would be so overwhelmed at this event. You really have to know your design style and colors to make this a worthwhile trip. I would have a very hard time deciding whether something is worth the price. So nice to see your family Julie! Show us what you bought in another post! I would like to see how you would style these eclectic pieces. 🥰🥰👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for watching Margaret! I came home with two things- a wood vessel (that I’m currently using for fruit 😂) and that fabulous parchment print that I just had custom framed for my brand new bedroom makeover!! Very excited to show you sooooon!!
So cool! This video is a treasure hunt for vintage lovers! Thanks for the virtual tour through the fair, showcasing unique antiques and collectibles that will transport you back in time. It's like having a personal guide to help you navigate the incredible finds at this must-visit event.
I love antiques, this video at the Round Top Annual Antiques Fair is a must-watch. The exploration of the fair is like a friendly guide through a haven of vintage wonders, making it an enjoyable and informative experience for antique enthusiasts like me!
That’s the BEST compliment ever MJ. My goal from this channel was always to make it about you and how to find/develop your interior style 💖 Love that, thank you for watching and supporting! 🙏🏻
Those prices are nuts. I say this as a person who has spent my whole life at antique stores, brocantes, estate sales, vide greniers, etc. For the last few years I’ve been into Brutalism and doubt I have spent over 80 euros for an amazing table or buffet. People are giving brutalist things away, lol. That Buddha hand vide-poche for 280 dollars should be 15 dollars max. Still I would love going to this place and seeing and touching everything. One could take pictures of a lot of the wooden items and hire and well-pay a local crafts person to make a dupe for half the price these people are charging for some of the simpler things like that Belgian desk. I guess venders really jack up the prices for this event. I bet your daughter had a lot of fun.
Brutalism is HOT right now, so many pieces from a variety of vendors. Fabricating new custom pieces may be less expensive, but takes the thrill out of the hunt! I love thrifting/ antiquing if just for the window shopping ☺️
@@JulieKhuu The thrill of the hunt gets me out of bed in the morning, but a big part of the hunt for me is finding the perfect thing for a ridiculously cheap price 🥰
I agree there were some really beautiful pieces but the prices seem higher than what I’m used to for similar pieces here in the Midwest. I think you would really need to know your prices. I’m happy Julie showed all of the different booths and prices as I’ve debated if it would be worth a trip to one of the big antique markets.
Thank you Julie...this is one of my favourite video as I've heard so much about Round Top...woooh..the prices are eye watering.. love this type of guided shopping trips...more please!!! ❤
It was a feast for the eyes for sure! 🤩 I was shopping for clients so I hit up the higher end stops. But if you’re on a budget, there’s literally miles and miles of endless barns that aren’t super curated, more like a flea market but perfect for bargain hunters!
Thank you Julie for this video❤I have been looking a lot into antiques lately and even purchased this 18th century dining table that I haven’t done anything with because I’m taking my time to search for dining chairs that pair well with it. This stuff is interesting 🧐.
Use filler chairs for now until you find THE ONE Paula! Take your time and manifest 🙏🏻 I promise the universe (or my channel) will deliver the perfect chairs to you 🤗
Hi Julie, Kamari is very cute 🥰🥰 singing "Mamma Mia", she was enjoying it a lot 😍😍 I love the artwork and the tapestry shop, I am not mad on antique or vintage furniture Just nice to watch your family trip and to see what the offers in the fair It was a shame about the rain 😢 thank you so much 😘😘😘😘
Julie, welcome to Texas! I'm sorry about the downpour! I love when you take us shopping, and yes, please do more shopping excursions! I've been dying to go to Round Top. It's about 4+ hours away from where I live in East Texas. I enjoy watching you!
Can you please do a video on how to prepare for round top? What should you bring to keep up with your smaller items during the day, how to map out which vendors you want to visit or anything else to prepare?
Blue hills was gorgeous! Super curated, but as you can see- we got rained in! 😩 I only got to catch 2-3 barns when there are actually dozens to peruse. Next trip! 👍
Driving through there next week for the holidays. You guys have to go to Round Rock Donuts next time. They have a 2 lb Texas 🤠 size one! I've always wanted to stop at these places but never there those times. April and October are our mildest weather months great for outdoor shopping.
Marburger is open year round, they don’t have ALL the vendors like the fair of course, but they do have local shops that have great selections- both vintage and new! I’ll have to return for the spring fair, half a day is not enough time!
Prices were definitely high Chris! But curated European antiques are like that. You’re paying for the time it took the dealer to locate the piece to show alongside lots of other unique items. LA has much higher prices in way smaller venues, with much less inventory as well. TX shopping felt like a candy store, I was shooketh in the best way 😍
Kamari is a great helper! I need to understand more of the prep. Do you get the list of vendors and what they sell beforehand? Like XYZ sells modern lighting and then ABC sells French colonial or whatever… it seems like a daunting place to tackle. And I can only imagine if it’s super crowded.. Lastly I guess it’s what you’re willing to pay because I’m not versed in antique pricing so I would t know if it’s a deal or rip off!
You definitely have to do your research beforehand. They do have a map with a list of vendors and what they specialize in. For EVERY location which is crazy because there are thousands of vendors lining this 10+ mile strip 🤪 But I relied on designer friends who go annually, who know my style and what I was looking for to make recommendations for this first timer. You can also look up items on the fly to see if you’re getting a good deal. Next time I’m bringing a U-haul lol 🚚
Wow I've been wanting to go to Round Top for about 5 years I heard about it in 2018. It looks amazing! Question: the venders didn't say anything to in regards to your child running around and touching merchandise? Someone I know who went there mentioned in conversation that there are venders who do not allow children, because of fragile expensive items and I do not see any other children.
I totally scored with this piece! I came looking for a tapestry, but found this parchment print instead. The art is painted by a Spanish artist from Barcelona, she sells her work and the vendor then reprints them on bamboo mixed parchment fibers. It’s made to look like an antique, but it’s actually all “new” 😍
BTW thank you for alll your detailed videos. We just finished a new home construction and I saw almost every one of your vids and used these as my Bible all the way from initial design to furnishings.
There are less expensive spots down the highway, I was shopping exclusively for European antiques. Which is yup, VERY expensive but SO beautiful and unique! 🤩
One of my biggest regrets: my Grandma had to move out of the family home a couple years ago because it was becoming too much for her to handle. So, because of needing smaller and cheaper accommodations, she had to sell all of her things, and soon the house will be sold, too. She and Grandpa built that house. But something I had originally hoped to inherit, Grandma had to sell at the auction because she needed the money. She and Grandpa had found a set of 6 poker chairs and matching round table, all made out of giant oak barrels. Each chair was a cut-out barrel and weighed a ton. They were cushioned with patterned leather. I believe they got the set from Texas. Then, they were in Colorado and happened to find an oak barrel ottoman that almost perfectly matched the table and chairs. I wanted that set so badly, but had no way of affording them. So someone else gets to enjoy them now.
There were so many chairs and art pieces that I loved in this video lol. That one giant patchwork painting especially. It would fit my boho aesthetic very nicely
W🤩W!! Original barrel chairs with patterned leather?!! Holy moly sounds incredible! That’s the thing about shopping for antiques, you’re often reminded of something you grew up. I love that sentiment
@@JulieKhuuthey are gorgeous. The majority of the leather is black, sewn together in diamond shapes, and in the middle is multi-colored leather diamonds. Very warm, rustic colors.
