    Keep knocking em out. I like that you didn't shy away from the possum and skunks. They're also super hard on the birds.
    Keep adding up those totals the birds will thank you

    Thanks to tree huggers. 😢 I spent all my nights in the 80s raising dogs and coon hunting. Never got into trouble, kept friends and I doing something constructive. Oh what I wouldn't give for my grandkids to have the same way to have fun and pay for it at the same time.

    I run about 30 traps on our lease. Caught 10 over the weekend, similar technique, we set them in the deer feed pens. Surprisingly, I have mixed results on dry cat food. I tried small marshmallows, seemed to work good. Going back in March and will try some dry dog food, which I use normally. When the majority of the easy ones are trapped, some golden malrin mixed with something sweet will finish off the stragglers.

      If you got deer trails near your feed pile set dps on them it will make a huge difference raccoons are lazy so settling on trails will make a huge impact I always use mini marshmallows and I will put 2 mini marshmallows on the trigger of the dp and I use cat food really whatever around the house and use some syrup

    For a skunk you’ve gotta go between the eyes from head on with that 22. My friend had a real bad skunk problem where they were getting under the crawl space to his house. He waited out night after night and as they would come out of the vent to forage he’d get them the second he saw eyes and had 100% success rate with them not spraying.

    I use Duke DP raccoon trap and have found that putting a cotton ball under the trigger completely stopped my traps from being pickpocketed. They reach in to grab the bait and it's over. Also reduces the amount of bait used per trap.

    • @AHBeeMaa
      @AHBeeMaa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cotton ball isn't going to stop you from getting possum & skunk. But it will reduce the amount of bait needed per trap and should sharply increase your success rate on anything that sticks it's hand in there looking for a meal. Side note - I do what I can to release the possum I catch alive because they do a lot of good by eating ticks and grubs. Skunk I dispatch from a distance and it's always a mess. Best of luck.

    Yes, raccoon meat is edible. It has a rich grassy taste that is compared to turkey or chicken but with more fat content. Raccoon meat is one the most tender meat found on the market and once cooked correctly, it can be a delicacy. Raw raccoon meat is very hard to chew and not recommended to eat.
