All these home videos from the 80’s are amazing, totally takes me back to my childhood! And girl, you were so ahead of your time with all these videos you made!!
Thank you so much Monica!! I don't know who I thought I was talking to when I made these videos, LOL! But I'm sure I could've never imagined that they'd reach a worldwide audience, eek! Glad you're enjoying my old home movies!
@@Our80sLife loving them! It was great meeting you and Keith on the cruise and being a trivia team with you! We absolutely cannot wait for next year! 😎😎🥳🥳
Great video..... it's so awesome you filmed all of this back in the day.....and even better, you kept it! Really digging the Liberty Junior High letter jacket. I had one just like it, but it read "83-86." Keep the vintage coming. Happy New Year.
Thanks Jason! I'm so glad I documented some of these fun moments too! We didn't get many snow days, right?! I've saved my junior high jacket all these years, but unfortunately the fake leather sleeves have gotten sticky with age, ugh. The same thing happened to my husband's high school jacket. Not sure why, I guess the material just breaks down over time. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year!!
I love Wichita. I lived there for many years. I love snow too. I always love your 80s videos. You were a great vlogger at such an early age. Thanks for sharing. God bless you.
This video makes me happy for several reasons. I love watching other peoples old home videos. I love seeing the joy and fun youre having. And it reminds me of our videos of the northeast blizzards wed have up here. Thanks for sharing!
I definitely come to this video every year! I’m an 06 baby! But I love the 80s so much my favorite decade of all time. I really wish I’ve gotten a chance to be a kid or teen then 💔
Aww, that's such a heartfelt comment. I'm glad you enjoy watching my old home movies. We actually have snow on the ground at our house today too, lots more than in this video!
Bless your heart Abbs, my wife and I just love you guys, watching your videos makes our day and night and Keith, we love that smile brother, if this world had more beautiful people like you two, we'd live in a perfect world, thanks for being you, much love and bless you both.
Aww, what a sweet and thoughtful comment. Thanks so much AJ 😊 You just made our day! We hope you and your wife have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and blessings to you as well.
I love these old home videos you posted. I think part of it is, you had great camera presence as a young person. So between the nostalgia and good camera presence, they're very enjoyable.
Great memories of being a kid in the 80s and 90s making due with what you had laying around! Great video and I really dig Keith's sweater! Happy New Year guys!!
I love looking at old videos because their quality is kind of grainy, sort of blurry, just like our memories from back then. I can't imagine what it's going to be like for children nowadays. Someday, the kids of today will look back at their childhood videos when they're older but the videos will be in ultra high quality 4k definition. It'll look like it was filmed just the day before. Weird to think about.
That's so interesting, we never thought of it that way!! It has occurred to us that so much of our daughter's childhood is documented in home movies that it may have actually altered her memories... like when she recalls something from childhood, would she have even remembered that specific event or has the video kept the memory alive for her?! So weird to think about! Anyway, thanks for watching! I'm glad you're enjoying my old home movies. I've got more to share!
Well by the time I get to your age I mean I’m sure they’ll be recording in like much better than 4k maybe even get tired e live the past by time travel or like fully immersive virtual reality haha
Oh my gosh, you guys, I loved this one! First, that looks like a lot of snow in Wichita! We don't ever have much snow here. Before you showed your throw-back movie, you said you used your mom's party tray and it totally triggered something from my memory, when I was in college in the early 80's. We had snow (extremely rare for way down here) and we went into the cafeteria and got the food trays and slid down the one slight hill on campus, leading into the soccer field. We all got in trouble and I think, we had to pay something to have the trays replaced (small private college), because almost all of them cracked or broke, LOL! We had fun though, and it looks like you did too Abby! Love the retro go kart and that station wagon!!! Why am I NOT surprised that your h.s. jacket still fits? I don't think I have my jacket, but I am almost 100% positive, it would NOT fit me any longer, so way to go Abby! Hope you and Keith did that a few times, just to make sure you got the right shot, looks like fun!!! Such a fun video y'all, enjoy that snow! Happy New Year! ---Stacy
Thanks Stacy!! This was a fun one for sure! I loved hearing about your own memory of the makeshift sleds you used in college, LOL!! That's awesome! Truth be told, the jacket was a really tight fit, but I made it work, ha ha! And the woodgrain panel station wagon parked in front was my mom's car for many years. I loved riding in the "way back" with my friends, lol! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Keith and Abby. Oh I Love this video and did it bring back memories. We use to have lots of snow when I was a teen. Abby you did a great job on that serving tray . So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed Evening and Stay Safe my dear Friends.
Awesome video! Such a great home video too, it really captures the experience. So much fun! These home videos are like magic. BTW, I really liked the one about the summer camp, great video.
This was great! We all remember our snow days well. I had a Coleco sled that my brothers, sister and cousins all shared. My cousins had their own but we used one anothers. The blizzard of '78 was my favorite snow day without a doubt. I was 6 and half at that time. Yes, I went old school with the half.👍 Abby, you did an ambitious shot at 3:57. You were go pro before go pro. Great stuff as always you two. And I can't believe you can fit into your junior high jacket. That was very cool. 🌨😎❄
Thanks!! You can see we didn't get much snow in Dallas (I think it was mostly ice) but we made the best of it for sure! When I put my camera onto the sled (tray) my friend was panicking... you can hear her in the background telling me to be careful, lol!
WOW! A Winter Wonderland back home in Wichita!!! Lovin' Keith's sweater btw - he's been sportin' some rad retro threads lately! I love hearing your little Abby voice - so stinkin' cute! And you both have on letterman jacket!!! I love how you improvised with kitchen trays - good job! I love how you have some of these older tapes to watch - isn't it amazing to see how much things have changed? OMG was that house purple across the street with the VW Rabbit? OMG You have your jacket still - can you see how I watch and comment? :D You guys are so fun
Happy New Year Verna!! Yes, we had a big snow, and it's still on the ground today. So pretty! I'm definitely glad that I saved all my old tapes and even my junior high letter jacket! Keith has his from high school too! I don't think that house across the street was purple, but it looks that way on the old tape. I think it was more of a pinkish-burgandy color, but I don't recall it standing out. Anyway, it's fun to see my old neighborhood and the good times we had there. We moved to a different house the following year.
I remember loving snow as a kid. Now that I am older, I can't wait to retire, sell the business and properties, and get to South Carolina. I already have a plot of land paid for and ready to build on. A month ago, I woke up to 33" of snow. My day began at 3:30am and between plowing, shoveling, running the store, then plowing again, as well as more shoveling, I didn't see the inside of my house until 11 pm. Thats why I'm working so hard, to retire early and enjoy my old cars year round. Instead of parking em 6 months of the year
Wow!! We can't imagine having that much snow, yikes! As you probably noticed from our video, Texans get pretty excited to see snow, lol! The snow of 1988 in Dallas was basically a dusting, and they canceled school, ha! We actually have snow on the ground here in Wichita today, but I won't complain after hearing your story! I'm not a super fan of cold weather either. South Carolina sounds like an excellent retirement plan. Thanks for stopping by our channel William!
@@Our80sLife you're welcome. Thank you and your husband for the videos. I recently commented about your Beretta GT on another video. Watching a few other videos i learned that it was either an 89 or 90, judging by the cross lace wheels as well as the black door moldings with red accents. Then the dash, 90 was the last year for the flat dash with the Beretta script on the passenger side. Odd trivia I know lol. Keep up the great work
Oh,I stumbled across this older one! Abby, you were very brilliant in taking videos of this time period, the rest of us were just living in the moment. I remember my first Texas snow,1975,I was 4 years old, never saw snow before! Down near Houston (Baytown), we had maybe 4 inches of snow,I watched my parents and brother make a snowman, and I got to put the carrot nose on his face!
Glad you enjoyed it! Oh yes, snow in Texas is pretty rare (especially down near Houston!) Texans don't even know what to do with themselves, lol! That sounds like a special memory for sure!
Happy New Year y'all! The 1987 snow day is the first snow day I remember... really neat to see it. When I got older we would take the wheels/trucks off of our skateboards and find a good hill to "snowboard" down lol
Hey there Birdsnake!! Happy New Year to you and Amanda! That's so cool that you remember that day as well. I think it must have been early January because I had just gotten my video camera for Christmas, and you can see the Christmas tree in a big trash bag at the base of our driveway, ha! Great idea to create snowboards out of skateboards, wow! That would definitely be above my skill level back then (or now!)

I totally would have done something like this when I was a kid, if I had a video camera! Thanks for the idea! 😂😂 I was just starting jr high in 1989. I started jr high in 7th grade because our elementary school added on a 6th grade. We never had school jackets in jr high though. We didn’t have them till we were in high school and I never got one cuz I hated school, lol.
Thanks Melissa!! You guys probably have sleds readily available up north, but since I grew up in Dallas where it hardly ever snows, we had to get creative and improvise, lol! It worked though! RIP Mom's party trays ;)
@@Our80sLife yes, we had lots of sleds, especially when I lived in Maine. There were tons of places to go sledding too. There was an old ski resort that closed down in the 70’s and they let people take sleds in there and go down the hills. It was great.
