My dad had a rolodex on his desk at work. When he retired in 1985 he kept that Rolodex because it had every contact in it that he knew.

It's still in use as I've also seen it around although it's much like your situation where they knew where all their contacts were.

Haven't seen a digital Rolodex like that, but the original-style Rolodex I've seen quite frequently before. If anything, the closest to a digital Rolodex were the "pocket computers" marketed towards kids that looks like and does the same things, and a G-Shock that I used to wear (that stored 7 phone numbers). 😂
