I like the fact that you thanked the lady at the counter for learning English and that you spoke very slowly to the locals! Not every foreigner / tourist does that and I think that's super nice of you and super respectful!

23:39 The person who became the model for the running man is not Japanese. The model for GlicoMan is a Filipino track and field athlete named 'Karatong,' who gained recognition during the Far Eastern Championship Games, an Asian sports competition. He was the only athlete to win a medal at that time in Asia. Therefore, they used him as the basis for creating the character.

this has given me a very different view of japan
I thought they were all too busy with their day to get to know a foreigner and that they were too timid to speak english in order to avoid confusion/mistakes.
I also love that you were able to hitchhike. Seeing forward to more of your content.
Small tip: try to pronounce the vocals in japanese with a less english ending, they are very dry vocals that stop and dont have an echoing sound.
example instead of "eww" say a short and instead of oooh say "o" like i n "orange"

Why have a 9 to 5? Haha wait untill you meet that special lady and you got a couple of little Dan's running around. Sure, traveling and the whole digital nomad thing has its appeal, but only for a while to be honest. Dont know how you pay for your life, but a regulat job does provide the convenience to just switch your brain off during work and the money allows you to really focus on building a home and family for yourself. The truth lies, as always, somewhere in the middle I suppose. Working 40 h/w till you retire and then realise you basically missed out on life isnt the way to go either. To each his own.

Hey bro, how much Japanese do u think u can learn in a short amount of time? If u can get to a conversational level then go for it.
A lot of what I love about the Spanish and Korean videos is your ability to converse with locals who don’t speak English.
I’d base the decision off this.
