I was so excited to see this. I think HtR often gets overshadowed or overly criticized but the setting and meta plot really does it for me - it was actually the game that got me into oWoD. Thanks for the great video!
I've been running Hunter for the past few weeks and it's been a blast, especially as my first tabletop rpg. It's a bit more comedic than the tone of the book, but I've been ramping up the horror... as of now the cell is on a warpath, and in spite of their total IQ barely scraping triple digits, they will stop at nothing to stop a living hospital made of vozhd.
Hunter is one of my favorite games from OWoD. Their convicition powers alone can wreck most other splats including Earthbond and Methusalas. Not their edges but the Conviction powers. Judges, Redeemers, Martyrs, and Hermits are the best Creeds
More Crits than Misses as of late but their have certainly been a fair number of misses. The most recent being D&D 4th Edition. My count as it stands right now is 36 Crits to 31 misses.
Great Vid! I find the imbuing so interesting. Like, why did it go so random? My thoughts,God and Lucifer have both left the universe,so the Messengers can't channel the imbue through any central command. With all their power, they can just manage to drop it like a bomb.
Playing this game i got so indulged into character that i was shaking when talking with a vampire (im an innocent) i love this game so fucking much i honestly feel real fear when playing it my character is an anthropology professor at a university in his 30s with a wife and two kids the roleplay at times got really real and i began to feel like i was experiencing this myself its so crazy good
I remember of Metro Toronto by Night (A World of Darkness MUCK) The person in charge of Human+ was anti hunter so he was like, nope, you can't make an Imbued character. You can make a character who is a hunter (ala soiety of Leopold or Project: Twilight) but not Imbued.
Loved the review my man! I wouldn't mind another video on Hunter the reckoning, because I've always found it to be extremely interesting when used in conjunction with others splats games, or hell even by itself. The mystery of the power really lent itself to be anything from interdimensional aliens, angels, to even a specialized sleeper awakening.
Happy New Year first off! Second off, Simba through the entire video! Third, I totally agree! Hunter is such a great game! I don't get to play it much but I hope that one day they do H20 or something like that.
Based kitty. But I would've really loved Tanner gushing about the pretty badass power. Nothing says fuck you monsters like turning a werewolf from his war form back into a human than having another Hunter hold him in place with guilt while the group bludgeons him to death.
Hello and Happy New Year! I've been subscribed to your channel for a while now, but tbh it's the first time I've actually seen your video. I really enjoyed your review and I do agree that HtR is kinda underrated, because it totally has a different focus and vibe to the other "Classic" WoD titles. I ran my first ever HtR one-shot last month, set in the Yellowstone National Park, and it went pretty good, we had a lot of fun with Edge rolls, interacting wih some "friendly" supernaturals and saving some innocent lives. The PCs in my game were pretty decent individuals, but still, each of them had a distinct point of view on this whole "Hunt" thing. As a piece of advice, I think it's important to encourage your players (as a ST) to utilize the Conviction mechanic and being more active with the Edge rolls, because in our case we've only played VtM: Rev. Ed and V5e before that and it's really important to remind (beginner) players that they should be able to detect supernaturals/supernatural influences to get things going. Cheers!
Thanks for subscribing and watching! Oh yeah, I love the conviction as well. Unfortunately some things always get left on the cutting room floor so I keep some of these videos under 20 minutes which is kind of a soft rule of mine. But if I wanted to make this a little longer I would probably get into conviction and what not. Yellowstone sounds fun and unique. I wouldn't think to put a game there. But maybe that is because I focus so heavy on Vampires and cities.
Damn i remember when we were hopeful for 2019. Anyways i was searching for HTR reviews/ how to play for my group. I'm kinda over 5e dnd wanna go back to 3.5 but I'd honestly like a new game. I got deadlands and mutants and masterminds but they are a bit too complex for half of my players. Hoping this will be a good fit. I know this is blasphemous but i love the lore from the video games which i know is based off the ttrpg. Hopefully my group goes for out
Hunter is the one WoD I never openly tried (though its on the backburner of my mind) I think the issue I have with it is simple. It's the most boring for me, you play as Sam and Dean from Supernatural with some nifty powers. It appeals to a lot of people, but to me not really. It just comes off as the "Mandatory Normy" game in a series that already had a lot of ways to make humans less squishy or more interesting such as kinfolk, ghouls and hedge mages but also a lot of interesting Numina as well. Hunter has its appeal but to me if you want to play Hunter, you're missing the point of WoD.
“2018 was a harsh year”
If only he’d known
"I guess they never miss, huh?"
I have a sudden urge to play an unscrupulous hunter, who is a pimp and uses his girls to lure in vampires.

Glad to hear it! HtR wasn't the game, mine was your rather standard VtM affair. But Hunter was the close second.

Judges were always my personal favorites. Felt like a good mix of everything. Hermits can also be a lot of fun!
Does this guy have some kind of respiratory problem?
crit or miss... i guess they never miss, huh?

Is a video for 5th edition Masquerade coming out?

I'm so happy that you decided to review this! Thank you. :D Maybe do a comparison of this and vigil?
I'm happy to do so and I think you will happy to know that Vigil is going to be the next big RPG I look at. So it should be up in a week or 2.

That can be arranged. I was thinking of doing some specials on Hunter as well considering it is one of my favorites!

Thanks and I was happy the big adorable orange ball stayed with me the whole video.

Happy New Year, dude!
Thanks dude! And to you as well!
Unless they are keeping it secret, this year is now the 20th for the game and thus should have a 20th Edi., at least I would think so.
:(
Is there any relation between the Imbued and the Inquisition, namely the Society of Leopold?
And is there a WOD game that let's play as the Society?
Cheers breh. 🍻
Thanks friendo!
They made 3 video games about hunter the reckoning if it was weak story they wouldn't of made 3 video games based off of it
I like the game, but the thing I dislike about it is how it's written. Having it written in forum posts makes it kind of hard to read.

Do you think you could review shadowrun 5th edition ?
Oh definitely! As luck would have it, I was thinking of doing that one soon actually.
