I have been using the small rig on my action 4 for a while now and find it good, the pro's are the fact the you can mount a mic receiver more securely ( not through the usb-c port ) and you can swap out batteries super fast without removing the cage or camera from whatever it's mounted too. However it is quite a bit heavier and the magnetic mount does not work as well with more tweaking to get it to click as you can even see here in the video. Otherwise it's built really well, paying €47 for mind i would expect it to be. It's kinda silly that DJI didn't leave a cold shoe mount on there own cage or at least brought something out as an optional extra similar to the media mod GoPro has. Maybe it's to persuade you to use a DJI mic only! Great video mate
Telesin has a second cold shoe on the side so you can mount a light and a mic RX.
Hey great video - did you notice any movement on the door of the cage once closed ? I just purchased the small rig case, but an noticing movement on the door like if i shake the camera you can hear the door moving around
I haven't noticed any movement on the unit I got. it's very secure. I've already dropped it a couple times and still holds up.

@@codyup2gI ordered one and had the same rattle. I think they have a bad batch of them. I ordered a replacement and same thing, door rattles when locked in place. Bought off Amazon.
Do you recommend the action 4 or just save up for pocket 3 or get both 😮
Those are two completely different cameras, so I have both. Depends on what you do more. Action 4 is best for outdoor daylight adventure. Pocket 3 is better for night or interior.
Hey, do you think it would be safe to use the small rig case + magnetic mount on a motorcycle or a car?
Safe? I'm not sure at high speeds or with bumps for long trips, but maybe short trips are fine. It's heavy, so whatever mounting arm you are using must be very strong to support the weight of the Action 4 and this Smallrig cage.
The Telesin one has 2 cold shoes... And I don't see why the thread hole is so important in the smallrig when you have the magnetic mount.... I mean it's not very clear why u recommend the smallrig over the other ones.
One of the ways I've personally mounted the Action 4 is on an articulating magic arm on a theater stage, rehearsal studio, and home for a locked off wide shot. Having 1/4-20 threads on the SmallRig cage makes it easy for this setup. I have a few other ways I use the 1/4-20 thread, but if you have no use for it, then it's not for a user like you. Other people use it for their specific reasons. My point is that the SmallRig cage gives users more mounting options if they need it, while other cages do not.
Its kind of silly that the Dji cage that comes with the camera doesn't have a cold shoe mount. It is literally the reason people put a cage on a cam for things like dji's own wireless mic receiver or a media light. its just stupid. There are ways to portrait mount a cam without any cage at all. Dji factory cage is junk.
Or at least Dji could make an other one... Anyway, Telesin came to help us, more than smallrig in my opinion
