- In this episode, we fix my mistake of overtightening and incorrectly assembling the AC belt tensioner. We also re-tensioned the timing belt, adjusted ignition timing, and completed a brake job on the right side of the car. Since we didn't know if the rain would stop, we decided to install the taillights with their new DIY foam gaskets from the hobby store. The car is on all 4 Civic HX wheels and has moved under its own power for the first time in our ownership!
Subscribe to Bolts&Banter to see the next episode of the Cheapie Civic where we install the fender we painted in EP. 2 and prep the car for the road!
Check us out over on Instagram, we're posting all the BTS photos and leg work we had to do in the background to get this Cheapie Civic off jack stands and on the road!

Dad,son and Hondas. Doesn’t get better than that.
Amazing to see how far you've come since episode 1. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Your build series is fueling my motivation to work on my project car too. I picked up a set of rims and tires for it today off of OfferUp, and I also got started on some of the bodywork that I had been needing to do. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh yeah, a kababayan content creator!!Keep it up sir!!i just miss my EG sedan that got wrecked last year
Man im loving this series i hope you guys to continue this and keeping honda related from 80’s-00’s working with your dad is very nice thats how me and my dad our were working on a 01 crv rd1 and juat awsome to work with him keep up the content
Thanks for watching! We had an RD1 back in the day as well, miss that car!
Love watching your journey on this project. I would have bought a OEM head gasket and timing belt kit bc it's a lot of labor to replace if need to do it again.
Its coming put great love it. 💪🏻🔥
I have a '01 Civic which is a next gen European hatchback. One of the previous owners found a way to kill this annoying beep when the door is open. It never beeps, even when you drive with seatbelt off, only the light is on. Everytime I hear this beep from someone else's Honda, I am thankful to that person who did that in my car.
Mine killed somehow too but lowkey want put it back on something cuz I keep leaving my headlights on when I rush to school and I gotta keep jumpcharging it all the time
@@qreekachannel8307 Fyi it’s certainly not inside the speedo dash cause I had two new ones changed and they did not get the sound back. It’s probably a relay somewhere in the fuse box under dash
Fellow european here.. Hondas in europe never came with the door ajar chime. I have a 99 civic hatch, it doesn’t do it too. Never heard a honda do it here. Its typical for usdm cars to do alot of chimes. Just like VWs, the mk4 golf does all kind of chimes in the US while it doesnt do any here in its home country.
@@NoelF-wj6xb Haha. Might be the US laws then. Mine does beep when you open the door with your lights on, though. So the beeper is there.
Nindota na ana brader ❤ keep up the good work!
I like this series, nice work! Old Hondas are the best!
Sup, watched this entire series as 92-95 civic content is top tier. You’re doin great just wish she was manual transmission! I’m in Ohio if you wana sell when you’re done lmk
A lot of valve chatter. Enjoying the build though. Good work.
oh yeah
That needs a valve adjustment other than that sounds pretty healthy
did you adjust the valves? the knocking concerns me
Was the speaking on the Ac idler bearing squeaking on start up and then leveling off with no sound? Or was it a continued squeak throughout a long time? Because I changed my Ac compressor out not to long ago. And I still hear a squeak. But it doesn’t squeak continuously. Just curious
In the beginning before it starts it sounds like it has no compression cuse it turn over so easy and then get compression.. needs a big valve adjustment or rod ticking like a diesel. Great work otherwise u and ur dad!
Muffler light hid pink and green
Stock wind viper full water green
Sounds like that motor has a rod knock.
I don't know if it's a rod knocking, but the valve train seemed to tick a lot. He set the valves, so it might be a sensitive microphone?
Ese motor originalmente suena pero ese tiene un cascabeleo.
Engine sounds like a Diesel.
