missthunderstormable It is true according to your taste buds. Personally, I grew up in the Caribbean where meat is seasoned with herbs and spices for 4 to 6 hours before cooking. Then I moved to England where folks cook their meat without seasoning and the smell makes me want to barf. I am in love with tofu because you get that meat texture and flavours without it clogging your arteries.

jnnlis i recently stopped eating meat not for my health but for ethical reasons. I think when you go plant based mainly for your health you are "more relaxed" about it since it's a dietary choice. When you stop eating meat because of ethical reasons and you are horrified at the idea of billions of animals being abused in unimaginable ways, your main goal is to save and help the animals and you are understandably angry that people continue to fund this heinous meat industry bc they just can't stop eating meat. I hope this helps you understand vegans better. I think if you love animals you can understand :)
Thanks for sharing your story! You did a great job, you look great and even better, you are happy and healthy :-) I too lost a bunch of weight and got myself healthy eating a plant-based vegan diet.

Im jewish an our whole culture is about food! But my journey is similar to yours. I have lost 10 stones all through my own efforts with diet and exercise but sadly, it became an obsession. I only started to receover when I became vegan and started thinking about the needs of animals and focussing on them rather than on the calories I was putting into my mouth! Its a long slow journey to recovery from my eating disorders of bulimia, anorexia and exercise addiction and I dont suppose I will ever be totally “well” but I shall be vegan until every cage is empty and thank the animals for my health. Thank you to you for your great recipes and inspirational story. x
+Ria Cohen Keep going on your wonderful journey... and yes, focus on the animals and the great things mother nature put on this planet :-) Glad you like the recipes x
My husband and I just saw that documentary and changed our eating habits too just this week!! Coming across your channel was what I needed :) yay!! It was so eye opening what was shown on that documentary and we knew we needed to change. It's exciting to be on a healthy road. :) Thank you for your recipes. Can't wait to try them
Vegan for 4 years on February 18th, 2020. I went plant based because I had a classmate in University have a bit of an upset over the mention of cheese. It seemed odd to me and I didn't know what vegan was. I had heard the term and mention of peta. I didn't know... I went to research it after school because I was clueless and stumbled onto content from Happy Healthy vegan and Bitesize vegan. I said I would try vegan for a month. Slowly I worked myself up to that over 5 months. Went vegan at month 6 starting on the 18th and have been trying it out ever since. I have made slip ups over the 4 years. Although, I keep going and learning every day. My biggest thing I need to figure out is my iron deficiency. I am sure with more time I will discover why I cannot absorb elemental iron. Who knows...
I'm a vegetarian transitioning to vegan and I have to say, the biggest issue for me is the cultural aspect. I'm Italian and I find it really difficult to deal with instances where family gets together to eat and I'm the only one who doesn't eat meat. It's not like I'm even tempted by the meat/dairy foods themselves, but rather that I'm sick of people asking me why I don't eat meat. It's always a big fuss and I just want to be invisible and not have to talk about it. It's not like I'm being bullied or anything, but to have to constantly be asked about it is embarrassing and makes me feel like I don't belong there or something.
sweetkeet126 I went through the same thing. Being German I had the same issues. I just always bring along lots of tasty food and no-one questions me anymore because they like the food so much :-) My mum has even become vegan after much resistance at first x
+sweetkeet126 I think everyone that eats this way gets so much feedback because people are so incredulous that their "brainwashing" about food could be questioned or challenged! I feel the same as you do, I just want it to be a non-issue, but because I see so many people so sick and clueless that it is their diet causing it, I try to remind myself I was the same way once and I need to subtlelty "educate" them. They do NOT really want to hear it, and I really don't want to preach, but I almost feel obligated after the incredible health benefits it has had for me! I am hoping that the truth about diet WILL spread, so we all have to do our part I guess. I've been told just stand as a silent witness to the benefits, but sadly, the only thing that happens is I get praise for it to my face, and ignored or worse otherwise. LOL, what are we to do when it is impossible to see people we love unwittingly destroying themselves?
I was reading about an alkaline diet too before I decided to be vegan. I read books like Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Esselstyn and the China Study by T Colin Campbell and they convinced me that vegan was the way to go 4 years ago. You've got an inspiring story and great channel with lots of healthy vegan recipes :)
Congrats Anya. Great to hear your story. I never tire of hearing about people's commitment, persistence and determination to turn their life around. I think the important element for someone wishing to transition is a change in mindset and determination to follow through and not give up, even if the change is slow. The 'Forks over Knives' film, and The China Study are great tools which help with this. I've heard so many people attribute their change in perspective to these resources. I Love your site, and have tried many of your recipes. Also love the collaboration between yourself and Adam. Great work.
What a great video! Very inspirational to say the least. I am American living in NZ and just become vegan with my husband and I have numerous health problems and have been basically in bed or couch for a year. [I am having spinal fusion surgery in a couple of weeks.] I need to lose weight but I also need to get my immune system in check as well. I found your channel researching vegan cheese and now just saw this video and am glad I found you. I will be subscribing and follow your blog. It's people like you that are making this transition not only easier but actually fun and exciting. Thanks so much=D
+m.s. mary Thank you for your lovely feedback and congratulations to you and your husband on becoming vegan. You will also find great information at: www.nutritionfacts.org
It's already starting to show, that I am feeling better. My husband is a builder and was worried he wouldn't feel satisfied w/o meat and now he has more energy. This was something so foreign and odd to me 10 years ago when I new a guy from Oregon that was vegan, I couldn't imagine it. Now I already can barely imagine eating meat at all. I mean it's only been a month so meat, especially fish are not that far in my past. Your channel rocks though--really it's a great help.
Thank You for sharing your journey so far with us, we who follow your website &You Tube channel! I had no idea that you had a heart condition & a weight issue at all! I am glad that you have had great success in turning this around I not only listen about your recipes but I use them as a mainstay of my vegan diet:-D. Your journey has gone full circle from helping yourself to helping others! And for having chef Adam on your channel I have found his input very helpful (especially on using a chef's knife & breakfast porridge recipe) Thanks for posting and be well! :-):-)
i'm gonna take the chance of that really personnal video to tell a big big thank you for your channel! Thx to you, i'm now enjoying cooking that way and eating not boring meals.
Congratulations that was a great story...I have been vegan for 8 years...for me it was not difficult I was born with a heart condition, so I always ate more veggies, fruits and grains and very little or none process foods...I was born and raised in South America (Colombia) so we ate different. Thank you for sharing your story and your time with Chef Adam...I enjoy it very much. Have a great weekend❤️
You are such a positive person thats why I love watching your videos, you always make me smile and the way you get excited about your own recipes is too cute ☺️ keep it up, I'm a big fan :D
Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats not only increase the healthy cholesterol (known as HDL) in your body, but also help to convert the LDL “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterols. By Increasing the HDL's in the body, it helps promote heart health, and lower the risk of heart disease.
Amazing!! I'm so happy I've stumbled across your channel because its going to help me take the first steps to a plant based diet. Also happy to have found a fellow Aussie TH-camr :)
Great video. I went Vegan 3 years ago after watching a video on YT "Best Speech You Will Every Hear - Gary Yourofsky". My health was failing even though I was doing everything my doctor told me to do. Each time I went back to him, my tests would indicate it's time to add another pill to my daily routine. After watching Gary's video, I, a person that ate meat for every meal and sometimes snacks went cold turkey Vegan. I am now weigh 45lbs less and take NO PILLS. I even fired m doctor! Unfortunately, it isn't until a health scare or you literally get sick of being in your own fat skinned body do you make changes. A month in and I tasted food for the first! My wife and I love your recipes and your videos. Keep up the fine work!
hi anja i ve been folllowing you for quite a while. i ve tried several of your recipes. all the family loves them. you re so great. thank god we found you. i m so addictive to your recipes now. so many thanks heartily.cooking with plants iscgreat. i ve changed to this diet just over two years now. my allergy problem has gone completely and i wouldn t revert back to bad eating. congratulations for having such a lovely figure.so much couageos and hats off to you. i ve shared your site to many friends in our little island of malta.
+Carmen Schembri Thank you so much for your lovely feedback Carmen :-) So glad that you and your family are enjoying the recipes and that you like my videos x
I'm glad you are having great results. I started my journey with water understanding also. Really like your recipes. I have had to learn to cook after many years of fast food...lolz Peace
Huge congratulations on such a remarkable change in your health Anja! I am a new subscriber and have been watching your videos from the start over the last few days. You have some amazing recipes and I can't wait to try many of them :)
I can't wait to show off my after pictures. I've got 80 more pounds to go. Regardless of what anyone says, a healthier diet is expensive. But it's worth it! Way to go Ana!
It's not hard to get a 1500 calorie meal for $CDN6-7. You can't eat that many vegan calories with quality ingredients for $6-7. Calorie for calorie, vegetables and fruits are incredibly expensive. A bag of frozen mixed berries for example is $4 on sale here and provides less than 300 calories. Fresh are more expensive. Equivalent calories of lean pork are about $1. Equivalent calories in white bread is about $0.30.
Writing again, so glad to find someone who was about the same amount overweight as me, being 10 lbs. overweight doesn't cut it for me. Just new to veganism and my blood pressure (extremely HIGH) has gone way don, heart rate, and type 1 diabetes has come way down. I like to listen to your story as it gives me inspiration. Thanks
In 2012, at age 47, after a life of being vegetarian, I also watched the documentary, "Forks Over Knives". It was pivotal for me. I went plant based and never looked back :) The information was powerful. In 2015, I went gluten free, strictly to eliminate inflammation and improve the gut-brain connection. Unexpectedly, my asthma improved, I lost my carb addiction and I lost that last 9 pounds. Losing the carb addiction is so freeing!! Presently, I'm trying to up my alkalinity and pro-biotics, to once again support the gut-brain connection and lungs. I take omega-3's, a multi, pro-biotic and a sub-lingual B12. This is a sustainable compassionate diet, which feels rewarding. So glad to find your FB page and TH-cam channel. I need to cook more and you're so clear and enthusiastic...I am definitely enthusiastic about food, too :)
What a great video and story. I too got a wake up call having to have a artery opened up in my heart with stent or I would maybe gone too. I did the same as you changed what I eat and did lots of reading. Lost 50 pounds over a few months and had to buy all new clothes. It is going on two years now, still maintaining my weight and I feel great.
***** Well done... it's a shame we had to get consumed by our western way of eating and suffer first, before realizing that the solution is so simple x
Great video! Thanks, Anja and Adam. I have Anja's recipe book which is awesome! I became vegan for the animals first and foremost but the added bonus was that my cholesterol returned to normal and I also lost weight. :)
I'm so glad she mentioned food with acidity. I have mitral valve prolapse and GERD. When I do eat things high in acidity, those two things become inflamed. So I have been eating healthier for the mitral valve and I haven't had a panic attack in a while. With Gerd I'm paying attention to trigger food and trying to stay away from it. Researched things about it and it recommended a more plant based intake so becoming vegan/vegetarian diet is the best thing for me at this point. Kind of tired of being in pain and being overweight
You are awesome Anya, and a source of inspiration to someone following the same path for about the same time period. I have also reversed many chronic illnesses, diabetes, IBS, RA, fibro, obesity, depression, high everything, and on and on! I was at the point where I just wanted to go to sleep and not wake up, was taking an obscene slew of medications and wasn't even 60 yet. Forks Over Knives was my intro to the dietary truth that rescued me, and is not just hidden from us by the industries that profit from our illnesses, but we are intentionally deceived to sell their product$. So sad, but true. I wish I could find a REAL doctor like McDougall, Barnard, Greger, Esselstyn, and all the other amazing professionals who took it upon themselves to go beyond the complete lack of nutritional education in medical school and make the critical leap to true HEALTHCARE instead of disease maintenance. And hooray for you for making our journey easier! Kudo's!
Char Covelesky Human's were first placed in the Garden of Eden and were able to thrive with the plant-based options they were given!!! You can eat your way back to health...physically and spiritually!! Best regards.
@9:00 "Just get yourself a nice base of recipes that you can just go to" This woman knows what she is talking about. This is key to success for people transitioning.
you absolute legend, Anja! You've actually inspired me to cook again :) I love your attention to flavours, detail and general practicality. what an amazing journey you've been through as well! very inspiring. and I'm really excited about jackfruit now, will get some asap. all the very best :) xx
I was also inspired by Dr. Esselstyn and "Forks Over Knives." Was a vegetarian before but went vegan, or WFPB a year and a half ago. Love your web site and visit it often.
Excellent. I used to be a 95% vegetarian until I became allergic to wheat so now I am back to eating meat about 5 times a week and I don't really feel that good. lol
Madison C Iowa Give it a try and I'm sure you'll feel better in no time. Also check out www.nutritionfacts.org for loads of info on plant based nutrition :-)
CookingWithPlants I don't want to be intrusive but did your aortic aneurysm heal/reverse completely by adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet? That's pretty amazing if so.
Rose Viola I haven't gone back for another ultra sound. But I saw a cardiologist who did some other tests and he said all is fine :-) Also, all of my blood tests are now perfect... whereas before they were a mess - high cholesterol etc, now all good!!
I was eating vegan- love the juicer- lost a lot of weight and stopped- gain the weight back- start vegan a month ago after so many years, and I have a good feeling that I am going to stick with it this time- the host is great- I get good recipes from her
+simon bartolo Thanks :-) I use a B12 spray. Also my nutritional yeast is fortified with B12. I also get annual blood tests done just to make sure that everything is in check.
+simon bartolo Thanks :-) I use a B12 spray. Also my nutritional yeast is fortified with B12. I also get annual blood tests done just to make sure that everything is in check.
Meat and cheese, really do not have that much flavor, once you get used to healthier versions of food. It is SO TRUE, I TOTALLY AGREE AND HAVE SAID THAT TOO. Keep in mind people, that the longer one eats junk food. The longer it takes to adapt the appitite to change. It took me about 1.5 yrs before I really started to like the vegan mac n cheese ans so on. Now I love it! Over the years I have tried enough plant based recipes to have plenty to make and eat...that we all love. Then you see there is no need to eat the typical junk food life style.
Anja you're just so awesome! I loved this interview! So great to hear your story. And you're an AMAZING cook! I have enjoyed so many of your recipes from here and your blog! I could never thank you enough for making my vegan journey so full of flavor! I wish you and yours Good Health and Love. It takes a lot of time and effort to make as many videos as you share. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My Brother died from a burst aorta. I believe it was because of his diet and lifestyle. Your fortunate you changed when you did. Thanks for sharing. I love your videos
It's just an association...eating healthy plant based is naturally alkaline, but ingesting products labeled as such won't help except to fatten the claimants wallet! Overall it couldn't be simpler, just eat the foods that grow from the earth we evolved with, and stay away from processed stuff as much as you can.
Thank you for telling your vegan story. I'm so glad that your cardiovascular issues were reversed! I really love your show and I try your recipes often!!💖
Thank you so much for this. Can't say how much I appreciate hearing your story. I am vegan for 23 days now and my taste buds are already changing, brain fog leaving and starting to see some weight loss. Trying to stay higher carbs, low fat as much as possible. I love my vegan mayo on salads, it has oil so I have as little as possible. You have great recipes. My fav vegan channel.
Did/do you portion control in your everyday vegan diet Annia? I don't mean in the treats, just your daily routine meals. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story.
Tigerdeer No, I just eat until I am full... but try to stick to whole foods as much as possible :-) Check out my 30 days of vegan series to get an idea of what I eat in a day.
I probably had a bad aorta too. I would get a squishy feeling at times, particularly when stressed. But I think the sardines are helping my heart more. I only just switched to sardines because Dr Weil recommends fish oil and exercise. I noticed a dramatic improvement in my heart. Now I can focus on the rest of my health.
+Travis Heinze It sounds like you had been low on omega 3s. However, fish oil is not a good source for health. Check out the latest peer reviewed studies conducted. Here is lots of information for you: nutritionfacts.org/?s=fish+oil
amazing to hear how you managed to lose weight and enjoy it. i am a vegetarian, but gained weight aswell, now slowly in transision, by cutting dairy first, it does not seem to be a problem, unfortunately the craving is not going away.....how do i stay away from crisps! its always in the house because of my kids....i need to remind myself and stay focussed and motivated every time by looking at vegan video,s.....does anybody have this problem too?
Bha Ka Thanks :-) I include grains and flours but their are not my primary source of food. I eat about 70% fruit and vegetables and the rest is grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. Whole food plant based as much as possible.
CookingWithPlants Cool. I assume that you relegate fresh green legumes to the 30% as well then? This is so inspiring, I'm just reading some articles on the alkaline diet right now. Can I ask where you get most of your protein from?
Bha Ka No, fresh green legumes such as peas would be part of the 70%. As for protein, plant based protein is easy for our body to digest and unlike animal proteins doesn't promote excess growth (such as weight, cancer cells etc). The protein myth has led us to become a sick and obese society. If you eat enough calories and a well balanced plant based diet you will get more than enough protein :-) Especially legumes and greens are loaded with protein. Check out www.nutritionfacts.org for lots of information on this and more.
I tried a jackfruit recipe for making "carnitas" tacos. I believe you can find it by typing "jackfruit" and " carnitas" into the TH-cam search window. It was really good...just make sure to get all of the moisture squeezed from it like you would for eggplant or tofu. I would love to see Aine make it or show us what she made. I love her channel! Aine, you are awesome!
+Renee G I eat bread but I make sure it is wholewheat etc... a lot of breads are very processed and have lots of unnecessary chemical based ingredients.
Hello Anja, thanks so much for sharing your story! I am now still in my "before" stage, and if I don't count the looooong off and on transition and couple films which helped to close the deal, I am being 100% plant based for only 3 weeks. Hardest was to give up eggs, and mainly cheese! That is how I found your wonderful channel :) I feel great now and sticking to it! You are my huge inspiration, I love your recipes and I hope one day soon I will also be able to have the "after picture" of myself :) I have two questions if I may: Are you planning to make an e-book? (First in line! :D) And-is your family vegan too? My daughter is mainly vegetarian, she just does not fancy meat as much, but my husband is a meat eater. I hope to have convincing results myself, but still would love to hear how is that for you, if you cook for them non-vegan sometimes, or if they became vegan and how was that going :D Thank you
karkulka13 Thank you for your lovely feedback and welcome to this great lifestyle :-) I have a physical book and ebook coming out in the next few months. Also, my husband and son are both vegan, but they weren't at first. I just kept cooking for them and educating them. My husband read the China Study and then switched... he lost weight and feels great now :-)
Great vid! I am German and in our family, we've never eaten much meat or dairy. ^^ Now I'm vegan anyways, but I don`t think I might cut out a good, organic, wholegrain bread. I either buy it in small organic bakeries or bake it myself. Is it really so bad to eat bread? I prefer rye-sourdough with some seeds in it.
+CookingWithPlants I lived my whole life in Germany and at the moment I live in the Netherlands, so I know the struggle with the meat en dairy very well! It makes me feel more connected to you and your way of living/eating! :) I like that you don't restrict yourself and you just do what you feel like but in a healthy way. It is awesome and the best thing to do! :)
I just wanna know if you did any phycial activity to acompany your weight loss. I really like your channel and I've tried many of your delicious recipes. Thx for sharing them, love from Argentina.
I really liked when you said meat does not really taste like anything, its the flavorings that you put on it that makes it taste good so why not put them on other things. That makes a ton of sense!
Thanks Allen :-)
CookingWithPlants hh
that s not really true...but ok, if you fry meat or cook it, it will add its juices....cant compare it with plants really. meat is much more juicy
I wonder whether you add garlic, salt and pepper... perhaps a bit of ketchup or steak sauce. I'm only beginning this life change but I've always felt, especially with red meat, that while the first bite tastes pretty good, by the third I'm bored. That NEVER happens to me when I'm eating a salad.

Your channel rocks though--really it's a great help.
m.s. mary Fantastic :-) So great to hear. Keep up the awesomeness x
I am so Impressed with your transformation i just order your book.Hope i get it soon..Thanks Tariq
Tariq Khan Thanks Tariq and enjoy the book :-) x
Thank You for sharing your journey so far with us, we who follow your website &You Tube channel! I had no idea that you had a heart condition & a weight issue at all! I am glad that you have had great success in turning this around I not only listen about your recipes but I use them as a mainstay of my vegan diet:-D. Your journey has gone full circle from helping yourself to helping others! And for having chef Adam on your channel I have found his input very helpful (especially on using a chef's knife & breakfast porridge recipe) Thanks for posting and be well! :-):-)
Uwe Abraham Thank you for your wonderful feedback Uwe :-)
i'm gonna take the chance of that really personnal video to tell a big big thank you for your channel! Thx to you, i'm now enjoying cooking that way and eating not boring meals.
+Morgane Gautier Awww thank you so much. I'm glad that your meals are now more exciting :-) x
Alexandra Vicuna-Perry Thank you for your lovely feedback :-)
You are such a positive person thats why I love watching your videos, you always make me smile and the way you get excited about your own recipes is too cute ☺️ keep it up, I'm a big fan :D
JasminJonson Thanks... I do love my food :-)
Wow, what an amazing change!! So well done!!
Very interesting to hear your background stories (of immense success) in both cases.
Tobias Brown Thanks :-)
Glad to find your channel. I'm in the process of making the vegan transition. Excited to watch more videos. Thanks for the inspiration
Well done... you can do it!
+Cam Brehm Welcome 😍
I am so proud of you how you've come thus far. You are courageous and empowering. Rock up the vegan life.
+Judy Tan Thank you :-)

ThrivingHuman :-)
Wow! Amazing story, Anja! Congratulations on your success!
linzertube Thanks.
+Rj Aquaponics Congratulations on your vegan journey :-) So glad you like the recipes and videos.

Peace
Huge congratulations on such a remarkable change in your health Anja! I am a new subscriber and have been watching your videos from the start over the last few days. You have some amazing recipes and I can't wait to try many of them :)
Nicola Wilson Thanks and welcome :-)
Great testimonial for the WFPB Diet. Thx for sharing!
+Team Broccoli Yes, WFPB for the win :-)
I can't wait to show off my after pictures. I've got 80 more pounds to go. Regardless of what anyone says, a healthier diet is expensive. But it's worth it! Way to go Ana!
Keep going! Props to you. I'm two months in, 16 pounds down. You can do it, and cheaper.
Richard Evans buy in bulk much cheaper than package maybe a little more work but much cheaper
***** Thank you!
How much is a Macdonald's meal?? 12-18 dollars for one person??? Now compare it to pasta and some nice salsa and veggies on top?? It's much cheaper
Thanks
Naomi Hukes Thanks Naomi :-)
Awesome testimony, thank you .... very inspiring.
Love you Anja, you're so wonderful! Thank you so much for all your hard work and passion, everytime I make one of your recipes it never disappoints.
Cerulean1015AOL Thank you :-)
In 2012, at age 47, after a life of being vegetarian, I also watched the documentary, "Forks Over Knives".
Your story is such an inspiration. I've been struggling with weight and health issues for some time and looking to improve.
+nancy ramos If I can do this, anyone can :-) x
Thank you for sharing this; you're such a great example to my mum and me. Thank you for being you and keep up the good work!
Maaike Seggelink So glad :-)
Great video! Thanks, Anja and Adam. I have Anja's recipe book which is awesome! I became vegan for the animals first and foremost but the added bonus was that my cholesterol returned to normal and I also lost weight. :)
+Serena Lewis Thanks and well done to you also :-) x
I'm so glad she mentioned food with acidity. I have mitral valve prolapse and GERD. When I do eat things high in acidity, those two things become inflamed. So I have been eating healthier for the mitral valve and I haven't had a panic attack in a while. With Gerd I'm paying attention to trigger food and trying to stay away from it. Researched things about it and it recommended a more plant based intake so becoming vegan/vegetarian diet is the best thing for me at this point. Kind of tired of being in pain and being overweight
Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it :-)
Anja, you are amazing and such a beautiful person inside and out 💞wishing you continued success and blessings 🤗🌱💚
Kudo's!
Char Covelesky
Human's were first placed in the Garden of Eden and were able to thrive with the plant-based options they were given!!!
You can eat your way back to health...physically and spiritually!! Best regards.
I love this girl!! Her recipes are doable, with normal easy to get ingredients.
Thank you so much!
@9:00 "Just get yourself a nice base of recipes that you can just go to"
This woman knows what she is talking about. This is key to success for people transitioning.
You are such an inspiration! Please keep making videos!
Wouldn't have expected that you had a german background (I thought irish). Greetings from Germany. Your achievements are really impressive! :D
you absolute legend, Anja! You've actually inspired me to cook again :) I love your attention to flavours, detail and general practicality. what an amazing journey you've been through as well! very inspiring. and I'm really excited about jackfruit now, will get some asap. all the very best :) xx
Sasha Shalmina Thanks for the feedback Sasha... so glad I have reignited your spark to cook again x
I was also inspired by Dr. Esselstyn and "Forks Over Knives." Was a vegetarian before but went vegan, or WFPB a year and a half ago. Love your web site and visit it often.
Arun Prabha Mukherjee same here
Arun Prabha Mukherjee Thanks :-)
Thank You so much that You told Your story that inspires me so much and I love Your videos :-)
BaHa Nailart Thanks.
Your are such an inspiration! I love hearing your story! Thank you so much!
I love the tip you gave about finding a core group of recipes to cook in advance to fall back on in case there are those "I'm too tired to cook" days.
Wow! Great job! You look great!
Madison C Iowa Thank you :-) I feel great too!!!
Do you have any videos on using Jack fruit as a chicken replacer? I just found your vegan ground beef recipe. Awesome! I want to try that.
Madison C Iowa I will soon :-) And it will also be in my upcoming cookbook.
Beautiful video! So true about meat based diet... thank you for sharing!
This is great, thanks for sharing! I've been plant based for 3 years but I don't create amazing recipes like you, ha!
Mary P Glad you like it :-)
Great practical advice. Thank you.
Rose Viola Glad you like it
CookingWithPlants I also have a savoury tooth, so it's good to have non-sweet ideas for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is easier.
CookingWithPlants And you do look really great. It's inspiring to see before-after shots.
Thank you for sharing your story
Tacha :-)
I was eating vegan- love the juicer- lost a lot of weight and stopped- gain the weight back- start vegan a month ago after so many years, and I have a good feeling that I am going to stick with it this time- the host is great- I get good recipes from her
This happened to me also starting again armed with more information this time.
You are so inspiring and natural. I love every of your with love made Videos! I lost 4 Kilos in the last month! Kind regards from Germany. :)
Plüschkartoffel Vielen Dank :-) x
What a transformation! Bravo
Nanou Cendril Thanks
Anya you are amazing. Hello from Malta. I love your recipes. I'm curious about b12, do you have a video talking about that?
+simon bartolo Thanks :-) I use a B12 spray. Also my nutritional yeast is fortified with B12. I also get annual blood tests done just to make sure that everything is in check.
+Rob Lewis Thank you. I do take all those things. I was just wandering what Anya's views were, seeing her amazing transformation.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
***** Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback :-) x
I am also a bit of overweight but I am trying to go vegan. Thanks for this video :)
Aren't we all on the inside bro
Dr said eat between 12-6. Go vegan. I did and have lost ten lbs this month
Thank you for your video! It is so silly to see the add I receive before watching your video. This add is promoting butter, eggs and yogurt.
Download a free adblocker, so much nicer!
Thank you! I only find that the pub promote the opposite of the video do :-)
My Brother died from a burst aorta. I believe it was because of his diet and lifestyle. Your fortunate you changed when you did. Thanks for sharing. I love your videos
hagenoft Sorry to hear that. Diet plays such a big role in so many "western" illnesses.
thankyou for the advice. that really helps.
I had never heard of an Alkaline Diet before, very interesting :)
TheSUPERHAPPY1 Akaline is bs.... according to recent stuff... imagine that
It's just an association...eating healthy plant based is naturally alkaline, but ingesting products labeled as such won't help except to fatten the claimants wallet!
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I really appreciate it :-)
CookingWithPlants You are so welcome thank you for what you do for the public
Thank you so much for this. Can't say how much I appreciate hearing your story. I am vegan for 23 days now and my taste buds are already changing, brain fog leaving and starting to see some weight loss. Trying to stay higher carbs, low fat as much as possible. I love my vegan mayo on salads, it has oil so I have as little as possible. You have great recipes. My fav vegan channel.
+Susan Richards (lilly) Congrats on your vegan journey :-) So glad my recipes are helping you x
+CookingWithPlants Thank you.
Inspirational story, mahalo!
Thank you
Did/do you portion control in your everyday vegan diet Annia? I don't mean in the treats, just your daily routine meals.
You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story.
Tigerdeer No, I just eat until I am full... but try to stick to whole foods as much as possible :-) Check out my 30 days of vegan series to get an idea of what I eat in a day.
CookingWithPlants Will do. Thank you again
Thanks for sharing!!
6Anie You're welcome :-)
I probably had a bad aorta too. I would get a squishy feeling at times, particularly when stressed. But I think the sardines are helping my heart more. I only just switched to sardines because Dr Weil recommends fish oil and exercise. I noticed a dramatic improvement in my heart. Now I can focus on the rest of my health.
+Travis Heinze It sounds like you had been low on omega 3s. However, fish oil is not a good source for health. Check out the latest peer reviewed studies conducted. Here is lots of information for you: nutritionfacts.org/?s=fish+oil
Love the song in the beginning 👍😁👍
Thank you so very much; incredibly inspiring!
twocupsoftee :-)
Great story!
You have such a beautiful story :)
E J Darly Thanks
amazing to hear how you managed to lose weight and enjoy it. i am a vegetarian, but gained weight aswell, now slowly in transision, by cutting dairy first, it does not seem to be a problem, unfortunately the craving is not going away.....how do i stay away from crisps! its always in the house because of my kids....i need to remind myself and stay focussed and motivated every time by looking at vegan video,s.....does anybody have this problem too?
Have healthy snacks on hand and reach for those instead :-)
Really great video. Quick question...Do you limit your intake grains and flours too?
CookingWithPlants Thanks so much for the info! You just got yourself a lifelong subscriber.
Bha Ka There is a lot to learn and take in :-) Glad to help x
Congratulations on reclaiming your health! You seem so joyful and vibrant :). Do you have a video recipe that uses jackfruit?
I tried a jackfruit recipe for making "carnitas" tacos. I believe you can find it by typing "jackfruit" and " carnitas" into the TH-cam search window. It was really good...just make sure to get all of the moisture squeezed from it like you would for eggplant or tofu. I would love to see Aine make it or show us what she made. I love her channel! Aine, you are awesome!
veganangel68 Not yet... coming soon :-)
very inspiring story! one thing i don't quite get is the bread thing? why do people limit these? is it because its processed or the salt or what? :)
+Renee G I eat bread but I make sure it is wholewheat etc... a lot of breads are very processed and have lots of unnecessary chemical based ingredients.
Well done!
Hello Anja,
thanks so much for sharing your story!
You are my huge inspiration, I love your recipes and I hope one day soon I will also be able to have the "after picture" of myself :)
I have two questions if I may:
Are you planning to make an e-book? (First in line! :D)
And-is your family vegan too? My daughter is mainly vegetarian, she just does not fancy meat as much, but my husband is a meat eater. I hope to have convincing results myself, but still would love to hear how is that for you, if you cook for them non-vegan sometimes, or if they became vegan and how was that going :D Thank you
karkulka13 Thank you for your lovely feedback and welcome to this great lifestyle :-) I have a physical book and ebook coming out in the next few months. Also, my husband and son are both vegan, but they weren't at first. I just kept cooking for them and educating them. My husband read the China Study and then switched... he lost weight and feels great now :-)
karkulka13 Have a look at the about page on my website www.cookingwithplants.com for their stories :-)
Thank you Anja
Can you please do a coq au vin?
Without the coq of course ;)
It was one of my favourite dishes but have never found a vegan version of it.
THEOZZYFUL I'll see what I can do :-)
Great vid!
I am German and in our family, we've never eaten much meat or dairy. ^^
Now I'm vegan anyways, but I don`t think I might cut out a good, organic, wholegrain bread. I either buy it in small organic bakeries or bake it myself.
Is it really so bad to eat bread? I prefer rye-sourdough with some seeds in it.
norabian77 Wholewheat, etc is great. Just not the refined white flour breads :-)
you're amazing! keep going! :)
+Mara van Bommel Thanks x
+CookingWithPlants I lived my whole life in Germany and at the moment I live in the Netherlands, so I know the struggle with the meat en dairy very well! It makes me feel more connected to you and your way of living/eating! :) I like that you don't restrict yourself and you just do what you feel like but in a healthy way. It is awesome and the best thing to do! :)
Fantastic.
Very inspiring! Thank you!
Nice video, keep it up!
***** Thanks
Its so nice 😍👍
Thank you :-)
CookingWithPlants Please :) ^_^
I just wanna know if you did any phycial activity to acompany your weight loss. I really like your channel and I've tried many of your delicious recipes. Thx for sharing them, love from Argentina.
+Mónica MD I was pretty lazy... the occasional walk but that was it :-)
