Something like that. Dance in Russia is supported on a government level. Besides being something they define themselves as. Think of how Americans think football defines their greatness. Same for dance in Russia. Russia had a long history of seeing male dancers as masculine, America does not. Hence why we have so few homegrown male dancers that make it to pro level.

After having had garnered Ukrainian Youth Champ, she was invited to Korea as partner of Jay Park, a UK-trained pro player who w/Natalia did advanced to final 16(?) at Blackpool Latin in 2010....! Today at Korea Open(Latin) such big names like Troels/Ina, Pavel/Polina, Nino/Andra, Kirill/Valeria and Massimo/Laura, etc come to compete w/legends like.Ricardo/Julia(until retirement) and Michael/Joanna(a few times?)....
