Thanks for the upload! This is the game that caused me (a Chicago native) to become a diehard Nebraska Cornhusker fan. I greatly respected Tom Osborne's courage to go for the two-point conversion for a clear win instead of a tie and national championship. That was guts and conviction.
Love having the option to watch full games with commercials or games edited down like this. Great edit. Some of the 30 minute ones seem too quick. If you look away, you miss something. This is much better, gives the game room to breath. Nice work.

This longer edit just better captures the spirit of the game. Really forgot how much Nebraska threw the ball in this game. Cool seeing old school offenses move the ball like the modern offense do today.
Yeah I always like to have an intro for each game rather than starting at the opening kickoff (if one is available) It just gets me pumped to watch the game. And I absolutely love college fight songs so if they can be heard I like to let at least some of it play while it shows the player celebration. I also like to show the score come up as the network goes to break. It just gets me refocused rather than just play after play which causes me to drift. Giving the game room to breathe was a nice way to put it. Just wish this channel wasn't so invisible, but i'm glad you found it.
My uncle is a huge Dolphins fan. He's been flying to Miami for at least one home game every year since the early 80's and he always says the Orange Bowl was a much bigger home field advantage than their stadium is now because of the way it was set up. Plus the fact that the Dolphins always had a lot better team back then
Boy this game aged so well. A non stop thriller from beginning to end. I always come back to this game every few bowl seasons or so. I remember the first time I saw this games entirety on ESPN classic. I already knew who won, but I was glued as if I were experiencing it live. What a treasure it must have been at that moment to have got to see and experience it live, not knowing of the powerhouse that was being born in Miami . I sometimes am inclined to call this Nebraska team the greatest in their programs history, but I always call this game the greatest football game ever played
Nebraska wore them down in the 4th. In the end, think about that blocked FG on Nebraska's first possession. What I remember most was that crowd. The Miami crowd went apeshit all night. I could only imagine what it was like in the Orange Bowl. Just a historically great game. It was great until the choice to go for the win, then it became the GOAT.

It was fitting that a Bear Bryant former player and assistant, Howard Schnellenberger, would win the National Championship the year after Bryant died. Schnellenberger would be a legend today had he stayed at Miami.

If ONLY they had the modern angles so we could really appreciate classic ball better. I can't believe I grew up watching football like this; with angle and quality not having any idea what was really happening. Today I NEED to know I watch most of my games recorded just to be able to rewind 2 seconds back on VLC. Gamepass is useless to me with its 10 second rewind...even on All 22.
yes, I played baseball and graduated from FAU, where Schnellenberger (Coaching UM in the game we're watching) started the football program, which is now respectable with 10 wins in 2 of the last 3 seasons 😀
If Tom Osborne ties the Game they would have been National Champions. I have watched some Nebraska Documentaries of this Game and some Nebraska players were upset 😡 because they knew they would have been Champions with a Tie.They felt they were Number 1 team all year and if a tie gave them the Championship so be it.
Agreed. You take the tie. The season takes precedent over one game. You are playing an upstart Miami program on their home field, trailed 17-0, battled back, you have to get out of there with a tie. Same thing when Miami lost to Notre Dame in 1988, 31-30. They had seven turnovers and had the opportunity to get out of South Bend with a tie. Had they done so, they would have won the National Championship.

When you defend the option as a linebacker, you have keys that you read and react to. Go to 45:16 and tell me what the Miami linebacker to Turner Gill's left (lined up opposite Nebraska's left guard) was "reacting" to. How does a player "react" when he's literally the first player on the field to move? He "reacts" before the ball is even snapped. Here's why: a Nebraska player who was on the field for this play came out of the huddle and tipped that Miami linebacker off as to which way the play was going. Armen Keteyian knew exactly what he was talking about in his book "Big Red Confidential" when he addressed that players were involved in taking $$$ to throw this game.

Jeff Smith had 104 yards on 9 carries. Did that from the middle of the 3rd quarter. Everything he got was off tackle. Miami played a great offensive game but they were fortunate

I always respected Schnellenberger, but leaving Miami was a terrible decision. What's amazing about Miami's dynasty is that it encompassed three different head coaches, none of which were really heralded prior to coming to Miami.

Rozier had 147 yards rushing before he was injured middle of the 3rd quarter
