I like that the judge let him talk. But when he said he wanted him to talk so that people can see how children felt when they’ve been abandoned by their parents due to drugs. It’s not only for those children, but the children that been abandoned by parents that were addicted to men, addicted to drama, addicted to what other people say about them. It’s for those children too because we all feel the same way. Whether our parents abandoned us due to drugs or because of something else. I felt him.

@@biggboi3932 I understand where you coming from, but I felt his pain and my mother wasn’t addicted to drugs, but to men. We all got taken from her actually from her addiction to men. Being addicted to a man is just as bad as being addicted to drugs. And that’s evident soon as your kids get taken away from you. Just as the parent that’s addicted to drugs would get their kids taken from them. My mom was so addicted to her man that she couldn’t even give her kids a call that were living with her mother, not even a two minute convo, not a happy birthday, not a I hope you get well soon. Judge Mathis is the wises judge ever. People really did need to see this. He needs therapy to heal. I feel for him. However, legally, he should pay. Her being a bad mother can't be the legal reason not to pay. Sad all the way around 🥺
I think JM just really wanted to compensate for all his damage and hurt. Maybe not the best judgement because I've seen him deny emotional distress to children of addicts, but I can understand why he ruled in his favor.
As a former substitute teacher, he must've been a trip in school. But most teachers don't take the time to really understand...and I know they are overworked and underpaid but that's a whole different thing in itself. God bless EVERYBODY...for real.
My friend is a sub and is currently experiencing the same issues. Underfunded schools lead to lack of teachers and untrained professionals to deal with the problems children have, in school and at home. The rotating instructors belittle the disruptive students which upset them to the point where they are eventually removed from the class (temporary time out) despite the fact that there have been complaints from fellow employees (including my friend) and even students. The school feeds from 2 housing projects and the whole area is in the process of gentrification so the area gets worse for the residents before they are bough out by developers who will make it better for people like them.
Yep. You really have to have a passion for children. Never seen myself as a teacher. I even settled for the low pay because I care for those children. Taking a course right now to identify a traumatized or abused child. I love talking to them and hearing them get steam off of their chest. It’s interesting looking through what’s called a “trauma based lens”.
@@chasc6334 As one of those former kids, thank you for your extra time attention and effort. I had a parent that was emotionally and mentally absent, physically she was there but abusive. This cracked my fucking heart. This is why I roll my eyes when men try to gaslight women by calling them emotional... Men are emotional too. They just can't cry and stuff like we do because other men call them weak and stuff so instead they get into gangs and all kinds of toxic nonsense. This brother here needed so much love that he never got. This cracks my heart in two. I just can't. I'm so sorry baby boy. I'm so sorry. You should have been loved so much harder. As a whole women are more emotional. This is why women are more equipped to show empathy and love and caring. One of the reasons mom is the hugger the boo boo fixer the one most kids go to when they need to cry or need help. Not to say men aren’t emotional though.
Sadly I understand perfectly how this child feels because I was in the exact same situation with my mother. He is gonna have to let it go with the help of a good therapist.

Never implied that, I'm simply taking both parties perspectives into consideration with the information given in this short video. I know it's way more that was done and said in their lives, but sometimes If opposing parties actually got to the actually root of what started the issue in the first place, there might not be as much anger, bitterness, resentment, etc...that may be an opportunity to heal either together or parallel to one another so at least the negative energy is cleared for future generations, because if they can't at least come to an understanding, they either need to completely separate, or the situation will only get worse🤷🏾♀️
You can see and feel all the hurt in this man, it’s almost like he is searching for answer to why this happened, I feel so sad for him, I’m glad he was given the chance to speak even when the court does not like the language, how does one heal from all this hurt!!
This whole case gave me so many mixed emotions and All of it drained me. I empathize with this young man, my mom was on drugs my whole life. It definitely is a hard lifestyle to live and understand. Parents have no idea how much their actions and behaviors affects us. I pray that they both find healing. I hope this generational curse ends with this young man and not pass to any of his 6 kids.
The crack that was intentionally dropped in black neighborhoods and on black families destroyed our homes so much. And this country thinks we should just pull ourselves, as a whole, our communities, and our families up by our "bootstraps". I don't even want to raise a dog here, not to mention my family.
I hope he gets the healing he needs, I got teary eyed listening to and seeing his pain. He was so raw in his emotions and was never trying to be disrespectful but is speaking in ways he knows how to get his point across.
I truly hear the pain in this young brotha voice!!! I know JM wanted him to be more respectful. However, I am glad to see that JM allowed him to truly express how he felt about his mother! This brotha is truly hurt and in emotional pain due to the neglect and abandonment she put him and his siblings through! So, I commend JM for allowing him to express himself and see what drugs do a child/family!
I am hurt for both of them. I see this young man’s pain but I also see mom’s. She made horrible decisions and it greatly affected them and until she acknowledges it and make it a change, he won’t heal. Neither will she. They both need therapy. I really pray for healing for both of them.

The trauma in this episode is quite palpable. JM is bringing awareness to the public all the time. I pray for all the families going through such experiences.
I felt him.
Omg I kept waiting for JM to snap on him or smthg😂😂.I glad aswell that JM let him tell his story n get this off his chest I bet he probably felt a lil better..I hope he stay straight n have a good life..
A hurt kid is a hurt kid I get you. However I don’t think it’s fair to compare drug addicted mother to man addicted mother. The dangers and hurt and the scars are way to different. It’s a wonder this young man is even alive.
So I believe in my case it can definitely be compared to those that are addicted to drugs. Because any addiction that allows you to neglect your kids is a bad addiction, it could just be too food.
Oh and my mother let 8 of her kids go. She had a total of 11. So yea, from my experience men can be just like a drug.
I’m glad he did….unfortunately my daughter has a father who is still doesn’t bother (drugs too😢), now I know how bad it may hurt her. Maybe it’s a blessing he’s not around if his life comes with all this drama, anyway….I pray to God I’m doing enough.

The defendant needs to get into counseling ASAP the amount of complex trauma he has experienced is painful. He needs professional support to get through it, if not for him he should do it for his six children. I pray this young man and men like him receive healing.
Especially due to the fact that he has his own kids.
Judge Mathis is the wises judge ever. People really did need to see this. Y'all know usually judge Mathis would've never tolerated that in his courtroom but the wisdom in him acknowledged that this was a very teachable moment. That's how you run a courtroom, it's all about results. Bless this family and I pray that they can heal.
As a black man with a mother who was a victim to crack I can TOTALLY relate to this. This hit deep. Bruh is hurt. Didn't realize this till my mom died that every boy needs his mom
Thank you.

This why we need more of us to become judges and lawyers by judge Mathis being from the environment he understood that man’s pain and didn’t hold him in contempt of court like most other judges would have.
I had to pause when the son was talking. Made me so emotional i needed a break. Broke my heart and cried for him. When he started saying ..... she was never there always right around the corner or on her way. Especially when he said she didn’t help with me homework. May the mom also get the strength to stay clean and earn her children’s trust and forgiveness.
Judge Mathis demonstrated exceptional patience during this episode. 🤔 This is what happens when you don't raise and love your children. Generational curse culture is real. MENTAL health counseling is essential for both.

That is the result of being reared in an uncontrollable environment.
He’s from Chicago. And his mom a drug addict. Probably was on drugs when she was pregnant with him. Never know. But he just poured his heart out that’s why Judge Mathis let him keep going. Judge Mathis felt every word.

Very true but you see the judge is nodding his head in understanding. He’s from the hood too, and he can relate. When you know nothing but the streets it’s hard to change your behavior even in a professional setting.

He's so hurt that he can't see that his mother was also hurt and that people handle trauma differently 😔

Best case ever! I could've watched this for the full hour. I wish you would show more raw and gritty cases like this.
The crack that was intentionally dropped in black neighborhoods and on black families destroyed our homes so much. Man.. her son is so heartbroken. And just to know the mother has to be going through a lot as well is so sad. Uggggg! 😩 I’m praying for them both
I truly hear the pain in this young brotha voice!!! I know JM wanted him to be more respectful. However, I am glad to see that JM allowed him to truly express how he felt about his mother! I'm tired of seeing shows and society placing blame solely on "deadbeat" fathers where we can clearly see that this woman is a deadbeat mother who chose drugs/men over her children. This brotha is truly hurt and in emotional pain due to the neglect and abandonment she put him and his siblings through! So, I commend JM for allowing him to express himself and see what drugs do a child/family!
I feel so bad for him and the mama should be ashamed of her self doing him and his kids like that
He’s stressing me out yelling like that!!
I am hurt for both of them. I see this young man’s pain but I also see mom’s. She made horrible decisions and it greatly affected them and until she acknowledges it and make it a change, he won’t heal. Neither will she. They both need therapy. I really pray for healing for both of them.
