    I used the site for many years as a pet owner and since kitty is sadly passed on, I've got my first cat sit booked for June. Can't wait!

    I have done house sitting with trusted house sitters. I enjoy the platform. I followed the same path as you. Built up some great reviews. I plan to take the house sitting international next year. I have one family the I house sat for 4 times. You can get to know the neighbors well that way.

    Maggi, this was a great video, with a well-thought out, comprehensive list. I've house-sat (pet-sat) many times over the years... and I've been considering joining Trusted Housesitters, for when I am traveling. It's so important to ask the right questions!! Cheers ~

    Really cool to hear your experience with doing this in Europe as I've been doing this in the US (Colorado specifically) for the past 6 months, but I've never really met or talked to anyone else on the pet-sitting side of this. I agree with a lot of your comments and suggestions and I think planning in your "vacation days" and "cleaning time" is very smart as especially certain housesits and pets can get quite time consuming and make it difficult to get remote work done or go site-seeing.

    As a few times a year traveler with multiple pets I am particularly excited to try out Trusted Housesitters. The annual cost is like half of what I normally pay a sitter for just a week! Thanks for all the great information!

      Hi Susie! It is definitely doable. But we were also very „intimidated“ before we did it our first house sit and that‘s why I decided to do this video. Therefore, I am very happy to hear that you found it helpful. :) If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out!

      Doing it as a couple has lots of advantages in my opinion, especially because we were able to do the pet „duties“. Everson usually did the feeding in the morning, I did the „night shift“. 😂

    We are a retired couple who would like to start doing this. My question is how to you have a car in another country? Do you rent one? This is a wonderful and helpful video. You are a delightful person.

    • @MaggiFuchs

      We are from Europe, so we usually travel with our own car. It’s worth the drive when we stay for longer periods of time. :)

    Hi, very useful video. But what should I do with visa ? Can I ask owners to help me out with it ?

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The visa issue is very tricky in my opinion. I only do housesits in the EU where I don’t need one. But I know for example that if I would do a housesit in the UK, I would require a work visa (even though I am not getting any money for it). So I am afraid I am not a big help, but I can only recommend to do a lot of research on what type of visa is required before going to avoid any problems.

    So when you mean by vacation days, you are not taking care of the pets or staying at the house? Do you stay during vacation days at airbnbs and hotels? I'm just confused by how you split your time between sightseeing/traveling and taking care of the pets/house

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, exactly. During the housesit, we usually hang around with the pets. And in between the housesits, we travel around and do the “tourist” program and stay in hotels or airbnbs. :)

    Hi Maggi, great tips and presenting. I'm currently choosing between premium and standard sitter plan, did you come across cancellations? do you think premium worth it? i read that it's quite difficult and long waiting until they recognise reimbursement. Also, for how long before do you buy flight tickets for example? Thank you

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We only have the standard sitter plan, so I have no experience on how fast they act on cancellations and if they really reimburse you. But we never had any problems and no houseowner cancelled.
      As of now, we only went housesitting within Europe and always took the car. But I am personally someone who books flights earlier than later, so I guess I would start looking for cheap flights once the houesit is confirmed. :)

    Hello Maggi! Would you consider it possible to do this in Latin America, Brazil specifically? I'm from Brazil and want to start traveling like that around here, since I still don't make enough to support myself in Europe, for example. But I never heard of anything like this, it seems like the market for house sitting is just very low. I would like to know your perspective about ir

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry for the late reply, I have been traveling to Brazil in the last few days. ;-) I have a filter on for house sits in Brazil for the last few months and there have not been too many sits. A few short stays around the holidays in big cities like Rio, Belo Horizonte and one in Floripa. In my opinion, most offers are in English speaking countries (UK, US, Australia) or places where lots of English speaking people have vacation homes. Tons of people from England have for example second homes in Spain, so there were lots of offers for us this summer. In Portugal, there were a lot less English people, so there were less offers. In Austria, there are almost none… So I guess it depends on the destination. I hope that helps. :)

      @@MaggiFuchs It does help, obrigada Maggi! I guess the route for now will be working + volunteering for accomodations until I have some savings and can take advantage of House-sitting in Europe or Australia then.

    Hi could you tell me what are the chance of a family of 6 being chosen to house sit , I was looking at the website and finding it hard to talk to someone on phone, I don't want to get a membership if its unlikely that we would ever get picked to house sit

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am afraid I am not a big help with this question. We are only the two of us, so I have no experience how it would be with a large family. I know that for some housesits, it says that they are not suitable for children because the animals don‘t like it or whatever… My guess would be it is probably much harder to find a sit for a family than for a couple. I hope that helps. :)
