    One of the most simple but best thing to learn. Going fast is probably the best feeling you can get when riding. Just having the vision and feeling of boosting a huge air or just making it out a 10 point barrel. I love the tutorial and love everything about it! 🤙

    Frustrated this afternoon with shorebreak low tide in Oceaside CA. Kept getting closed out on and paddled in and watched the waves for about 10 minutes. Riding through those sections seemed possible if I could just figure out how to get more speed. Just caught your new video, it should definitely help me. Thanks Iain, you're awesome.

    My whole channel is about Bodyboarding on the artificial waves (Flowriders, Pro Flows, ect.) so I'm surprised these videos don't come up more often. Completely different sport though. I've chatted with hundreds of Bodyboarders who can't 360 on a Flowrider and its easy to see why from these videos because the positioning is so different.

    Love all your videos but this is a great one because it is a benchmark for how we should be riding to make things a lot easier and give us as much potential as we have.
    Bodyboard size ALWAYS gets tossed into the discussion when SPEED is the subject
    With speed being the subject of the video.
    Question: If you wanted more speed that all the technique possible cannot help you to get...
    Will you opt for a longer board/same length but wider board/or a same length but bat/quad/etc. board?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very interesting thing. So…
      When it comes to speed a bigger board will always be faster but you have less control. It takes more to dig the rail in when you bottom turning but the surface area is going to keep you going faster.
      When it comes to bat/quad/crescent tails… I’m busy with my first quad board now so should have a first reaction video soon. Also I don’t think there is much difference between bat/crescent tail boards when it comes to speed.

    Thanks for this video!! Very useful :) could you please explain how to choose a bodyboard, and talk about the rocker of a bodyboard? I have seen that quite a lot of brand new bodyboards have a big rocker and somehow are difficult to control. Would you also choose a PE core on water temps of 12-15°C like Portugal ?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done a video about how to choose a board but I will be doing an update later in the year…
      PE cores are good but it’s an entry level/beginner/intermediate board.
      Bodyboards straight out of the factory shouldn’t have a huge rocker. That would be a defect and should be sent back. Leaving them in the sun or in a hot car can also affect the board badly as it will start to reverse rocker. Finding a board that is flat on the bottom with a slight rocker to the nose is key and can be done simply by placing it flat on the ground.

    Iain, OK so when I try to maximize speed on the upper portion of the wave face (the high line) I already have my hip on the inside corner (to the wave face) of the board. My chest is lifted up, Biceps at 90 degrees (to the board) and I am as far forward on the board as I can be. Now you say to take both flippers out of the water which makes sense (less drag) and I have tried this but when I do it I usually start loosing all the rail I have dug into the wave and my board will slip sideways away from the wave which is all bad. What can I do with my weight distribution in this scenario in order to lift both of my flippers out of the water and gain more speed but still keep the rail dug in?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to make sure the inside rail is engaged. From what you’ve just said the inside rail is not engaged. Best thing to do would be to figure out how to engage the inside rail in order to not slide out when lifting the things out of the water. It’s difficult for me to help without seeing where you are going wrong on a video or photos.

    • @apolopena
      @apolopena 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iaincampbell_ Yeah I think I have come to depend on my inner fin in the water to engage the rail and keep it there. I know the lower on the wave the harder it is for me to engage the rail so I will try a few adjustments. Thanks for the reply. I wish had photos but I almost always go out alone and here in San Francisco Ocean Beach and I would not trust leaving a camera setup on the beach.

    • @EmmaDaisy
      @EmmaDaisy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@apolopena hey, have you been able to get your fins out since you posted this? I was thinking it might be the board size.

    • @apolopena
      @apolopena 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EmmaDaisy Now that I am thinking more about pulling both flippers out to minimize drag and hold the rail, it happens more often, it really seems to depend on my weight distribution and also habit. I like ruddering the board with my inside flipper and I tend to rely on that to hold the rail vs body distribution. Leaning a little forward into the face and not arching up to the max seems to help hold the rail when both flippers are out of the water. Thanks for asking.

    • @EmmaDaisy
      @EmmaDaisy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@apolopena awesome, congrats on achieving that! I’m in the market for a new board after my old trusty one had one too many holes and was probably a decade old, so I accidentally bought one a size too small and it sucks lol it sinks in the water. But early on when I started I remember having a board that was slightly too big and it would slid out from under me just as you described in your original post, that’s what made me think of it. So I’m still looking and researching, they don’t make my old trusty one anymore. I guess summer’s on its way to your side of the globe soon, hope you can get out there as often as you want and shred some clean waves!
