Quick front sprocket change for trails helps a ton going down a couple teeth makes a huge difference looses a little top end speed but if they are trail riding its helps a ton and the little speed lose isnt to big a deal
Thanks for the review Kyle. This is going to help me a lot in n couple of years when I buy my newborn son his first bike. Just a thing I picked up, according to my knowledge the forward kicking kickstarter on the 50 is designed for the father to start the bike at the racetrack. The older model even had it on the left if my memory serves me right.
👍🏼 Kids review was awesome. Not everything in life has to be perfectly professional. Great video and I love the single word responses from the boys. Keep up the great work, I haven't missed a video yet.
Just went from a crf50 to a Husky tc50 for my 6 year old. His first race on the tc 50 it stalled halfway through the race and couldn’t get it to stay running. It sounded like what you were describing. I thought maybe water in the fuel because it hasn’t done it since. It made me miss the CRF already! Now my 4 year old is riding the CRF. I wish KTM could improve the reliability of these 50’s. I’ll be so happy when they can be on 65’s!
My son went from a pw50 to a 2021 KTM50 sx we do only track riding and the first day he switched it was an amazing difference. He even as a 7yr old told me man this thing makes it way easier. This bike on a track there’s not a better bike I feel. Trail riding though I bet would he a lot tougher because of the clutch system but on a track wheewwwwww my son was reborn lol.
Thanks man and kids, to me this video it's very useful, I bought a used 2006 ktm sx 50 for my son when he was 4 years old and I wasn't happy at all with it, now that he's 6 years old I was about to buy the 2021 sx50 but I had my doubts, I think I'll wait a couple more years and buy him the yz65. Thanks again guys!
They need to make somthing like the yamaha yzinger 80 with better suspension for a kids trail bike. They had a decent bottom end for an 80cc air cooled 2 stroke.
Yamaha used to make a PW 80. Great light 2 stroke. 3 speed auto. My son found a used one for my grandson. Don’t know why Yamaha stopped making those. All the 4 stroke TTR are so much heavier .
@@jjsroofing860 :Pw/Yzinger 80 is the same bike as the pw80. I had a first gen in the 80's before they dropped the yzinger name, they were yellow, like the first 50cc yzinger pw50's were.
Excellent review. I’ve been considering moving my daughter up to one of these but now I’m not so sure. I wish we could skip the 50 and go straight to the 65.
Couldn't agree more with what you found with this 50. My boy has gone to the 65 (Husky) from the 50 and the tracks and trails we can go on now are more fun for him and I. The novelty definitely wore off owning it after a year. Over heating, carby issues, and even the stator corroding. But even after all this i still loved it.
we need a slightly power reduced version of this bike with a 3 speed centrifugal clutch transmission and a slightly bigger rad. Reduced power, 3 speed, and slightly upgraded rad would probably take care of the over heating and clutch and throttle response issue for trail use. With the 3 speed you wouldn't even noticed reduced power from the engine. but you'd also gain longevity and reliability by reducing the comp ratio and giving it a flatter more linear power curve with the addition of power valve tuning. its like we need a XCW version of the SX50.
Great review... I wish HONDA made their CRF 50 & 110 with the suspension and brakes that KTM has on the 50min 50sx & 65sx... I’m picking up a HONDA CRF 50, 110, 110, 125, & 125 big wheel next month for my 5 kids. Was to poor to do so till now :-) I feel the suspension is lacking on the HONDA’s. All but the HONDA 50’s now have (EFI) fuel injection which is really attractive to have no carburetor issues. I like you Brotherson will be taking my kids mostly trail riding and the fuel consumption of the 4 strokes, the low end grunt, and the low maintenance of the 2019 HONDA line up really make sense to be simple gas and go bikes for our family. Keep it up with videos. Do some trail bike camping and showcase those kids having some weekend fun on the trails...
How about those Cobra cx50? I met a guy at the kids mx-track that switched their ktm to cobras for his kids, cx50jr, cx50 king and now also a cx65. He were never going back to ktm. He said you just adjust the clutch once on the cobras and then it just works. I watched his kids ride and the power delivery looked so much smoother than all the ktm’s at the track that were just on/off and the small kids almost fell off their bikes when the clutch engaged.. :) looked lovely like the cobra had a bit more low end torque that those ktm’s? i need to get something bigger for my daughter that is outgrowing her pw50, but the more i look at ktm 50 the less i want to buy her one!
This is a great video. At the moment my grandson (5 years old) is on a ttr50. He wants to have a go at motox and was thinking of a ktm50 sx. Not to sure now because a lot of our family riding is just trail riding. Mabe I should just keep him on the ttr until he is ready for a 65
Evan's coolant. Will not boil over. Still will get hot, but your not going to lose coolant. Once you lose coolant it wont cool. Heat kills the stators. If it's hard to start= needs top end. As for the carb. Clean, clean, clean and reclean. Add fuel filter....... O do we still get RM cash when using your links?
Awesome perspective! Thanks guys for the real world knoweledge and straigt forward presentation. Now we need one of these vids for the 65's. Wink Wink! I have 10 and 12 year old nephews and I was wondering if KTM 65's wourl be good starter bikes for them? They haven't rode before so I wonder if a 2 stroke 65 is too fast and a four stroke would be beter to start on. I think a honda 50 woudl be too small and havent herd the best things about the 110's (pit bikes) for starter bikes and the 125 four strokes are pigs. After watching this the KTM 65 sounds like a nice bike.
Awesome vid dude, my young guy rips the trails pretty hard on his oset MX10 which has been awesome!! but I’m looking for options once he out grows it in a year or so. It’s a shame there really isn’t a good mini enduro option out there.
Looking back at all your experience with the KTM 50 SX, do you think the new ktm sx-e 5 or husqvarna ee5 would be a better transition bike before the 65?
hi, i'm looking for which dirt bike bought my 6 year old boy between the yamaha ttr 50 and a ktm 50 sx. This is his first dirt bike, he has experience on a mountain bike and has ridden the dirt twice! Thank you
With the hole carb thing thats wierd beacuse on my 2015 125sx iam new to 2 strokes, i bought it from las vegas and i just changed the main and pilot jet , took it up to the uintahs and it ran great!!
My kid has been riding a honda 50 since he was 4. He is 8 now he has outgrown its abilities he isn’t the biggest kid and debating if I go the KTM 50 which probably won’t get him more then a year or get the KTM 65 which seems like to much bike at this point.
I feel like you guys would not have a love-hate relationship if you wrote it with its intended purpose. Unfortunately since it’s a two-stroke engine these KTM 50s are really only meant for kids who want to get into the racing world. In my opinion I think they should’ve just stuck with the CRF 50 because trail riding is way better like you said. The reason the KTM has so little power and then all of it happens at once is because of the way a two-stroke power band is designed. It’s a much narrower power band compared to A four stroke engine so unfortunately you basically get all of the power at once. This video is a little old so I don’t know what you guys do now but what I do know is that if you’re interested in being a trail riding enthusiast ride a four stroke, and if you want to be a racing enthusiast ride a two-stroke
Nice review love KTM but I want to ask you if you can do a review on the new wr450f that would be nice cause I love yamaha as well so if you have the time plz do a review of the new 2019 wr450f or 250f
personally think KTM is so overrated the have gotten to comfortable with their brand their starting to fall Yamaha Honda and Suzuki are two times better KTM suffers on to many things like their air filters dosent even have near as good suspension as Honda and Yamaha the list goes on but my opoin im sure people have loved these bikes and their nice just some things
Wow, the dude takes a $5,000 minibike marketed as a “ready to race motocross bike” on trails and spends a 18 minutes video criticizing it, telling the world how you cannot go SLOW with it, and how the gas tank is too small for long trails in the open. W. T. F ???
Great Job Brotherson’s. Well Done kids, it’s not easy being on camera.
You both did a great job!
So happy to see these kinds of reviews!

My daughter has the ktm 50 and everything you’ve said I agree with. You and the boys are 100% spot on

Great job Conner and Case! This is a great video. Hope to more of them.
Good bike for good rider. Love your vids bro. I am 13 and I got my new KTM 150 XC 2014. Keep the good work up
Thank you for your honesty this video was very helpful for making a decision for the trails.
Thanks for this man it seriously helped and having your kids speak their mind on it also helped!
Beautiful kids!...good interview! I enjoyed the content!
Pervert
great video, love the real world review!! keep it up!!

Nice two sons , very smart and it's cool they ride!
I’d love a review on the Beta electric kids bike and also KTM and Husky when they’re released.
“Come here Connor tell them ur name”😂
Height and and weight of your boots would be good information. Many of us are contemplating skipping the 50 stage and putting a rekluse in the 65.
Way to go boys , love your videos
It's all in the jetting. Main and idle are set wrong from factory.
Get them right bike starts first kick never an issue 👍

This little kid Kase (yellow hat) is funny 😀
Please do more of this stuff

Great job on Video information on kids dirtbike’s!! 👍🏻👍🏻✊🏻💪🏻
How the hell is that bike so clean?
So the forward kick is more for the parents I can pull up next to my kid on her ktm mini adventure and kick it still sitting on my bike
Keep up the good work brother💪🏽
Awesome vídeo whit those two :)

Great vid and detailed review.. Would you say the Honda CRF50 is a more durable, reliable and a faster bike?
Good video! Connor is for sure your twin haha
Hell yeah I wanna c more of those two!

Great interview and review, my 7yr old son loved it and he has a question. Could he go straight to the KTM 65 from a Honda 50 ?
Mark Simmons it’s possible if he’s tall
2nd that Question
Its going to rock his world, it's a huge jump in power.
Good to know info in the slow/fast, verses trails/track. Thanks! Do you think its because of being a 2 strock verses 4?
Thanks for the review for im gonna buy one
Do one for the 65 please!
Looking back at all your experience with the KTM 50 SX, do you think the new ktm sx-e 5 or husqvarna ee5 would be a better transition bike before the 65?
Awesome video kyle!!!
Hey kyle awesome vid I am 11 I wish I could ride with your kids someday I have almost the same experience as konnor

My VOR 530 kicks forward, you should try and start it Kyle

Clutch is a nightmare on those, 90 minute service life and it overheats anyways.
Great job!
Nice review love KTM but I want to ask you if you can do a review on the new wr450f that would be nice cause I love yamaha as well so if you have the time plz do a review of the new 2019 wr450f or 250f
I have the exact same story!
Hope Ktm is watching this vid. They could set up a trail version. None of the sx versions are that good offroad.
Can any body help, I'm looking for seat height of KTM 50 Jr and KTM 50 Sr pro.
Is it a 2 stroke?
I want a ktm 50 right now I have a Hoda
I have one, and if KTM is reading the comment's: PLEASE put a better petcock on, I have to use plyers
Man i just bought my 5 yr old an oldie 06 50 sx senior stepping up from the pw 50 but now i kinda regret it any advise from anyone?
Just get a bike to suit worst thing you can do is make it so they not having fun
cool vid.
I have a KTM 50 XS 2019
If hes going slow for a long time it starts to oil up then it will stop then it will take a long time to start
How old are your kids?
We say that in the video :)
11 and 8
Nice video
I wished Kawasaki would upgrade the kx65
Would of been good to have compared the pw 50 aswell and you didn't meantion what bikes were 4 or 2 strokes
