I am just hearing this song for the first time today. And what I hear when she goes into her very emotional belt, is just this all-out wailing made of pure sorrow and mourning. I think she gave 100% of her heart to that portion of her vocal performance.

I loved this reaction! This song is one of my top five favorites in her entire discography. Her birth father was abusive to her and her mother; He was not really in her life because not only was he a drug addict and an alcoholic but he suffered from both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. She was raised primarily by her stepfather and this song hits me harder now than it did when I first heard it because I lost my dad almost three and a half years ago.

Demi’s dad died and was abusive to Demi and her mum. She had a very troubled relationship with him and that created a lot of daddy issues. I blame him for all the troubles she faced in her life
Demi has a squeaky voice, and a manufactured vibrato? You should listen to more Demi. That’s so not true. You stopped to pick it apart before you were even sure it was a ballad. It’s a painful emotional song. Also, of course there’s a buildup. I just found this unnerving. She meant it when she said , “Father, I want to say Thank you”. It wasn’t sarcastic. Also, you paused it at the absolute worst times and way too often. Good luck to you and your channel, but I won’t be subbing.
