Jayden Marvel Ehhhhhh, Sam Jackson doesn’t think so. I think anything could happen. However, it’s only 10 Legacy films. So that doesn’t counts films that he writes and doesn’t direct such as True Romance or From Dusk Till Dawn. I think QT will continue to write and make film. There is a Django sequel going around and Tarantino has spoken about it. If it happens and gets made I don’t know if it would be counted as a Legacy film because it will be co-written. But Pulp Fiction was also Co-written by Roger Avery and it was counted as a Legacy Film.
He used to be pretty straightforward with his thumbnails, I think he changed it at some point cause it was really easy to guess his opinion without watching the video... Now it's more like a gamble, I like it.
I actually blame Woody. Andy never intended to give Woody away (especially because he was an heirloom family toy from the FIFTIES), but was forced to because Woody put himself in the box with the other toys. It made sense and felt emotionally complete at the end of TS3 (because Andy grew up and the gang got to stay together and have fun), but seeing those consequences play out in TS4 just wasn't satisfying. It's like saying, "and they lived happily ever after...for a few years and then it all went to shit." It also annoyed me how many times Woody changed the plan in this film. The plan was no toy goes with Bonnie to kindergarten, then Woody went anyway. He then threw himself out of the RV for Forky (pretty sure toys are meant to stay put), then instead of going straight back to Bonnie, got distracted by looking for Bo... then lost Forky, had to go back to find Forky, got distracted by Bonnie and changed the plan AGAIN...when he looks at Bo and says "change of plan" regarding Gabby Gabby, I yelled "NO KIDDING." And then, after the toys drove AN ENTIRE RV to get him, he decides at the last minute "... actually, I changed my mind." Maybe if Woody had stopped trying to control the situation all the time, he'd still be with Andy.
@@nataliekmaguire if he went with Andy, he would probably have just been left in a box somewhere. He would become that awkward toy that Andy had too much nostalgia for to get rid of, but he has no desire to actually play with, what with Andy being an adult now. I know because I used to have a toy like that. When my mom wanted me to get rid of my toy box along with all my toys, there was that one toy that I thought maybe I wanted to keep. But I didn't keep it because I thought I would use it, I kept it because I felt it would be disrespectful to trash something that gave me such wholesome memories to look back on. You can't exactly blame Woody for seeing a chance to start over with another little kid who still plays with dolls. It probably was the smart move even after it turns out that Bonnie don't like him, because at least he's with his friends, whereas if he went with Andy, he would have been lonely.
@@nataliekmaguire Yes. It made sense that Woody's attachment to his lifelong friends would eventually override his loyalty to Andy, seeing that he had fulfilled his duty of raising Andy. It was hard and emotional but made sense in the context of Woody's character. What doesn't make any sense is for him to spontaneously abandon everyone (!!!) forever (!!!) just to go on bullshit thrill-seeking adventures with his estranged love interest. W T F.

Woody's relationship with Andy was so special, that he knew deep down that it couldn't be replicated again. I don't think he is the kind of character who would really want to continue going from one child to another ad infinitum. Yeah, he has said that what mattered most was not how much he was played with, but the fact that he'd always be there for Andy when he needed him. But they made it very clear that Bonnie is not Andy, and she doesn't need him anymore. And since she ignores him at an age much younger than Andy was in Toy Story 1, I don't think there's any chance for a good long-term relationship, anyway.
While that's true, I liked Lotso better than Gabby. I found his descent into evil more relatable. Even though I tried to gather sympathy, I found myself hating Gabby and thought she didn't deserve the voice module.
Yes! I felt the same way. I thought it was just my imagination going wild again. Lol! This review was hilarious and kind of changed my mind to maybe check it out.
My only gripe was they dumbed down Buzz, and felt it would have been awesome for him and Woody to go on their mission together. That would have made that ending pay off more.
Yeah, I would've liked to have seen more of Buzz but he showed his true friendship to Woody a few times and if they were inseparably close Woody would've seemed like a scumbag for leaving. As Joel said they showed Bo's character developing and her relationship with Woody which was what was needed for the story to develop

I mean Pixar has made some duds recently (Cars 2, Good Dinosaur, etc.) along with Disney as a whole, so it's not like the cynicism about this movie was misplaced or anything. Still, I am relieved to hear that this movie isn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
the theme, that i really love the most, is the theme of leaving toxic or unfulfilling relationships and taking on life expectations sent on you by your friends and family. Woody didn’t leave Buzz and the others, he left Bonnie because they mutually grew out of needing each other. LIFE LESSONS FROM A PIXAR MOVIE ONCE AGAIN😭
That was everyone’s concern, that this would just be a pointless tagged on epilogue... and they kind of took that as the premise of the movie and turned it into something brilliant.
Honestly, I didn't like it. The characters didn't act like themselves, they turned Buzz into an idiot, and they really spoiled what the three films had built up to. It had spectacular animation and it had its moments, but I wouldn't watch it again.

After the first teaser trailer last year, I felt the same...terrified. I felt that Pixar was losing their creative luster and pumping out films just to support Disney’s investments (Toy Story Land @ Hollywood Studios). Man, was I surprised with Toy Story 4. It’s a stark contrast from anything Illumination or any animation studio has been doing in the recent years. Life of Pets 2 was abysmal. My 7 year old didn’t stay engaged after 15-20 minutes into that one. In Toy Story 4, she was in her seat from start to finish, eyes glued to the screen.
I can 100% agree with you. At first when seeing the trailers, it didn’t really look interesting, and as someone who has been a huge fan over toy story, I was very terrified that it would be another one of those movies. Boy was I proven wrong. I had a mental break down at the end as I cried over the lovely ending. The nostalgia hit me hard as I go home with the toy story sound track playing on the way home. I never really liked illuminations, they played to safe and their movies were boring and stale. There movies never added enough spice and I had enough when I saw the trailer for secret life of pets 2. I never wanna see that movie again, as I immediately went upstairs after 10 minutes of the first movie playing on Netflix. But with toy story, I was so drawn to it in the theaters and didn’t move a second, wanting to see it all. Overall, toy story 4 is a great movie that will always be in my heart.
You know a kid's film like Pets 2 is bad when a child becomes bored of it after 20 minutes. Another prime example that kids are smarter than we give them credit for.
Went in with low expectations and really enjoyed it. It was sad and it did have me welling up, but... no other animated film can get me like the scene in TS3 when all the toys hold hands, ready to be burned at the dump. It still gets me now 😢😢

yup. i play a lot of games on my phone and never heard of this before. play a lot of mmorpgs still and currently boycott mobile rpgs because they ruin video games. money hungry companies are making lazy, low cost mobile versions of games now instead of putting effort and innovation into actually good computer-based rpg games.
The rest of the gang was barely there when in the other 3 films they all had their own thing to do to make the story great, that was a huge let down for me.

I appreciate your responses and you are right the story in this movie is about Woody and Bo Peep, and that’s my point, this is a very narrow film, in my opinion this would be a great short film like Toy Story That Time Forgot, not what it is. Maybe I used to see the other 3 movies as a wide films where everybody contribute to make it grow.
Uhh are we watching the same triliogy's buddy, because a good chunk of Toy story 1's plot has Woody and Buzz at the center, 2 has Buzz take only a few toys with him and the rest we don't see again until the end of the movie. 3 gave them a lot more to do but that's the one exception. Besides they DID have a role in this movie even if it was minor, delaying the parents from leaving so Forky doesn't get left behind.

Toy Story 4 was OK. I don't like how they split up, especially with the fact that Toy Story 3 ended with 'now we stick together as a family'. Another thing is how little the other characters were barely involved, nothing from the Potato Heads, Jessie barely made it into the film, also can we talk about how much of an idiot Buzz acted in this movie? Just wasn't that good in my opinion, I wish the franchise ended in Toy Story 3.
Well almost all of the previous toys like Rex and Slinky have actors that are getting really old and they probably don't have it in them to voice their characters that much anymore. Also the ending was perfect because it emphasized that Woody can't always stay with one child and should finally start making multiple kids happy.

I didn't cry when the movie reached its ending. I also left the theater unsatisfied. This just didn't feel like an ending. I still feel like there is something missing. But aside from that, I grew up with toy story. I watched the first and second one pretty much everyday from when I was 3 years old, to 6. Then the third one came out, and I teared up at the end. Now, 10 years later, there is a 4th one. I didn't watch any trailers, and only saw a few posters, so I knew Bo Peep was returning, but that was it. I watched the movie, and felt let down for some reason. I thought I would feel sad like everyone was saying, but I guess because of how connected I was, I had a different, unexpected reaction of getting really angry on the inside, that this was the last one, and I didn't get the conclusion my heart hoped for, and now I'll never get to see woody and buzz again. If they were gonna end the movie that way, they could've at least had buzz and woody actually be together for one last adventure, where instead, they were separated almost the whole movie. If they were gonna make a movie about woody, they should've made Toy Story 4 first, then a prequel, with Andy's dad and woody's real backstory. I feel so incomplete whenever I re watch Toy Story 4...
it's felt right as a toy story 4 conclusion after all, it's a fantastic film overall and nothing about it felt "incomplete" AT ALL here for me nor should anyone.
I get your gripes, but Buzz was already in the 3. one just a side character and in the 2. one he was kind of important in the beginning because we could see his growth, but after a while his story in Toy Story 2 was just an assembly of entertaining actions scenes. But this is good, because it was always Woodys story, I wouldn’t had wanted that all 4 movies would be about their friendship. Since Toy Story 2 Buzz took the role of the best friend of the main character, nothing more, just the 1. one was mainly about their relationship.

My dad passed away a few weeks ago and I've been trying to slowly recover from it. I'm in my early 30s and he was in his early 60s. I put this movie on today for the first time for my one year old and for some reason this movie just made me ball my eyes out. Something about Toy Story really reminds me of my childhood and makes me think about my dad. The whole franchise is just so amazing and will always be so near and dear to us millennials
The movie was good but the ending made no sense, it was sad but it isn’t woodys character at all, Woody leaving his friends just for Bo? What happened to “You got a friend in me” what happened to that??
That movie was so over hyped I can't even believe it. Different strokes for different folks and all that, but my wife and I thought Fury Road was bleh.
Zach Jordan I personally really enjoyed the movie. Both Max and Furiosa felt like real people and even the side characters were enjoyable. The cinematography was beautiful and the work that was put into the cars and practical effects were stunning. My only qualm with the film would be the main villain. We didn’t know much about him and the reasons behind his motives, but overall a great movie. But everyone has their own opinions :)

I put it off for years completely ignoring everything about it, but it really did surprise me with how good it was. My love for toy story has come back completely.

To me it felt obvious and the right choice for Woody to leave Buzz and the gang. Woody didn't feel loved by Bonnie the way Andy did, and so with the re introduction of Bo he finds a way for him to help kids the same way he helped Andy and Bonnie. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a new Toy Story TV show on the Disney plus streaming service where we can see Woody and Bo with Keanu and Jordan Peele on their own adventures while at the same time seeing Buzz and the gang with Bonnie and Forky. Buzz really felt like an underdeveloped character this time around, but it's because of Tom Hanks and his fantastic work with Woody that the movie relies on for it to succeed the way it did. It will be very interesting to see if Buzz also feels like Woody and he somehow loses his ways because of Bonnie and not being with Andy. There is a lot of ways that this franchise can go to and I'm very excited.
I love that as a TH-camr you don’t seem fake and like you’re putting on a show like most try to do, you seem like yourself and like I’m talking to one of my friends and I really appreciate that authenticity.
I don't mind the franchise continuing, I just wish they did spinoffs. Remember that old Buzz animated series? Imagine doing a full movie in that universe. Some interesting "lore" to explore.
I’m genuinely surprised but I fucking love this movie too. It did not miss a single beat and it went in all the best ways possible, so I have to give them credit for that. So much of it was memorable, funny, relatable and emotional. Even the all of the new characters (and Bo Peep surprisingly) were flawless. All of the annoying traits you’d come to expect are just nonexistent and they managed to pull them all off as equally wholesome. Even the “villain” didn’t even want to harm anyone, she just wanted to have a chance to experience a new life like Woody did once and a quarter before, and the ending as touching as it was felt natural to me. I’m sure we’ll still get a Toy Story 5 at some point and things will start to go full circle again but they really did a good job with wrapping up everything important that was left over. It never felt boring, it never felt cringy, and time just felt like it flew by faster than it was. And honestly I liked this film a lot better than 3 since 3 was mostly a beat for beat reinterpretation of 2. The thing I like about Toy Story the most is that no matter what number it is in the series, it always feels like it’s own condensed story that continues on from the previous. 1 and 2 were definitely different and so was 4. 3 is still good don’t get me wrong but outside of Andy growing up it felt too safe. With Toy Story 4 though, I didn’t expect much and I had no idea where it was gonna go. I don’t even know where it’s gonna go after this movie in general. At least with 3 I could easily see what could happen next but 4? Man they really have a tough shell to break overtime and yet they still somehow did. It surprised me even more too because a lot of Pixar sequels more recently like Finding Dory and Cars 2 were both just decent or pretty bad respectively. I haven’t even seen Cars 3 yet even though it has little to do with 2, that’s how boring it was. Granted Cars 1 was never the best Pixar movie ever either but I still felt it had an actual point to it and I definitely see why people would love it. Finding Dory kind of has a point too but a lot of the journey itself just feels padded out and could’ve went along with better pacing, especially since it was only 2 or 3 characters max involved in one scene. In Toy Story 4 I was afraid that they were gonna do too many as evidenced by the amount of new characters, but I was wrong, they even wed them out just right for each particular scene and make them all seem just as important. Bo Peep is no longer *just* a side love interest either and was kinda shocked to see how they went along with her, and yet she felt natural and still in character to her original self as well. Forky has to be my favorite of the actual new characters just because of his dynamic with Woody alone and trying to find his place in the world. I’m still shocked at how precious he is. Overall, I loved it. This movie was adorable. And now it’s going into newer directions too, so I can’t wait to see what else they could think up of if there’s ever going to be a Toy Story 5, which let’s be honest there likely will be. But hey if they’re just as good like you said, then I really don’t mind that at all. It was risky, but it was well worth the reward. No doubt that this will go down in history as a cult classic just like all the other 1995-2010 Pixar films did. (Also can we just give them a round of applause for actually being able to make characters like Elastigirl and Bo Peep waifu material now, like seriously *damn.* I’m sure the ladies feel the same about most of the male characters too. Who would’ve thought that was even possible for pieces of plastic) Oh and *SPOILER* My favorite scene has to be the one where her arm just fell off and Woody was screaming in bloody murder. And of course that ending too but all of the emotional bits are obviously perfect in their own way.
The entire toy story trilogy was based around Woody’s belief that toys should stay loyal to their kids. In toy story 4 he gets one chance to run away with his girlfriend and completely destroys the first three movies. I was not satisfied with this film.
The spork becoming sentient is a great premise. From there on I'm like "Ugh. A road trip." Also, two counter-arguments are on the way: Rambo and Terminator.

This movie is 100% a betrayal of who Woody is as a character. You mean to tell me that Woody, the guy from the very beginning that made it his mission to not only always be there for his kid no matter what but to also lead, protect and love his close group of friends (family), just decides to leave behind everything that defines him for a woman who had no problem leaving his ass at the beginning of the movie and never looked back? Not only is this character arc absolutely ludicrous but the continuation of this story is completely unnecessary given how beautifully Toy Story 3 ended. I mean what was the purpose of this? Why?!? What? So Woody barely gets played with so he says fuck this shit and you people I’m out? The only reason he’s not being played with is because YOU wrote that in the god damn screenplay. Making up a character plot point that forces Woody to definitively choose between his family/principals or a girl he kinda likes just because you thought “Make a 4th movie? I mean we can so then why not?”, is such a shame that’s truly baffling

Yeah, but you gotta admit, kids leave toys that they really don't want.
I actually blame Woody. Andy never intended to give Woody away (especially because he was an heirloom family toy from the FIFTIES), but was forced to because Woody put himself in the box with the other toys. It made sense and felt emotionally complete at the end of TS3 (because Andy grew up and the gang got to stay together and have fun), but seeing those consequences play out in TS4 just wasn't satisfying. It's like saying, "and they lived happily ever after...for a few years and then it all went to shit."
It also annoyed me how many times Woody changed the plan in this film. The plan was no toy goes with Bonnie to kindergarten, then Woody went anyway. He then threw himself out of the RV for Forky (pretty sure toys are meant to stay put), then instead of going straight back to Bonnie, got distracted by looking for Bo... then lost Forky, had to go back to find Forky, got distracted by Bonnie and changed the plan AGAIN...when he looks at Bo and says "change of plan" regarding Gabby Gabby, I yelled "NO KIDDING." And then, after the toys drove AN ENTIRE RV to get him, he decides at the last minute "... actually, I changed my mind." Maybe if Woody had stopped trying to control the situation all the time, he'd still be with Andy.
@@nataliekmaguire if he went with Andy, he would probably have just been left in a box somewhere. He would become that awkward toy that Andy had too much nostalgia for to get rid of, but he has no desire to actually play with, what with Andy being an adult now. I know because I used to have a toy like that. When my mom wanted me to get rid of my toy box along with all my toys, there was that one toy that I thought maybe I wanted to keep. But I didn't keep it because I thought I would use it, I kept it because I felt it would be disrespectful to trash something that gave me such wholesome memories to look back on. You can't exactly blame Woody for seeing a chance to start over with another little kid who still plays with dolls. It probably was the smart move even after it turns out that Bonnie don't like him, because at least he's with his friends, whereas if he went with Andy, he would have been lonely.
@@nataliekmaguire Yes. It made sense that Woody's attachment to his lifelong friends would eventually override his loyalty to Andy, seeing that he had fulfilled his duty of raising Andy. It was hard and emotional but made sense in the context of Woody's character. What doesn't make any sense is for him to spontaneously abandon everyone (!!!) forever (!!!) just to go on bullshit thrill-seeking adventures with his estranged love interest. W T F.

Woody's relationship with Andy was so special, that he knew deep down that it couldn't be replicated again. I don't think he is the kind of character who would really want to continue going from one child to another ad infinitum. Yeah, he has said that what mattered most was not how much he was played with, but the fact that he'd always be there for Andy when he needed him. But they made it very clear that Bonnie is not Andy, and she doesn't need him anymore. And since she ignores him at an age much younger than Andy was in Toy Story 1, I don't think there's any chance for a good long-term relationship, anyway.
What I loved is they did a Redemption for the "Villain" unlike Prospector & Lotso. Gabby Gabby made me feel for her.
That's how I felt too I was worried it was just going to be another hero villain film but it changed at the end and that's what got me.

While that's true, I liked Lotso better than Gabby. I found his descent into evil more relatable. Even though I tried to gather sympathy, I found myself hating Gabby and thought she didn't deserve the voice module.

I didn't even know it was considered as "obscure", but I've never watched it, and I never expected Chris would reference it.
My only gripe was they dumbed down Buzz, and felt it would have been awesome for him and Woody to go on their mission together. That would have made that ending pay off more.
Yeah, I would've liked to have seen more of Buzz but he showed his true friendship to Woody a few times and if they were inseparably close Woody would've seemed like a scumbag for leaving. As Joel said they showed Bo's character developing and her relationship with Woody which was what was needed for the story to develop

the theme, that i really love the most, is the theme of leaving toxic or unfulfilling relationships and taking on life expectations sent on you by your friends and family. God I was so scared for this film because it ended so perfectly in Toy Story 3
That was everyone’s concern, that this would just be a pointless tagged on epilogue... and they kind of took that as the premise of the movie and turned it into something brilliant.
Honestly, I didn't like it. The characters didn't act like themselves, they turned Buzz into an idiot, and they really spoiled what the three films had built up to. It had spectacular animation and it had its moments, but I wouldn't watch it again.

After the first teaser trailer last year, I felt the same...terrified.
I felt that Pixar was losing their creative luster and pumping out films just to support Disney’s investments (Toy Story Land @ Hollywood Studios).
Man, was I surprised with Toy Story 4.
It’s a stark contrast from anything Illumination or any animation studio has been doing in the recent years.
Life of Pets 2 was abysmal. My 7 year old didn’t stay engaged after 15-20 minutes into that one. In Toy Story 4, she was in her seat from start to finish, eyes glued to the screen.

At first when seeing the trailers, it didn’t really look interesting, and as someone who has been a huge fan over toy story, I was very terrified that it would be another one of those movies.
Boy was I proven wrong. I had a mental break down at the end as I cried over the lovely ending. The nostalgia hit me hard as I go home with the toy story sound track playing on the way home.
I never really liked illuminations, they played to safe and their movies were boring and stale. There movies never added enough spice and I had enough when I saw the trailer for secret life of pets 2. I never wanna see that movie again, as I immediately went upstairs after 10 minutes of the first movie playing on Netflix. But with toy story, I was so drawn to it in the theaters and didn’t move a second, wanting to see it all.
Overall, toy story 4 is a great movie that will always be in my heart.

The rest of the gang was barely there when in the other 3 films they all had their own thing to do to make the story great, that was a huge let down for me.

I appreciate your responses and you are right the story in this movie is about Woody and Bo Peep, and that’s my point, this is a very narrow film, in my opinion this would be a great short film like Toy Story That Time Forgot, not what it is. Maybe I used to see the other 3 movies as a wide films where everybody contribute to make it grow.
Uhh are we watching the same triliogy's buddy, because a good chunk of Toy story 1's plot has Woody and Buzz at the center, 2 has Buzz take only a few toys with him and the rest we don't see again until the end of the movie. 3 gave them a lot more to do but that's the one exception. Besides they DID have a role in this movie even if it was minor, delaying the parents from leaving so Forky doesn't get left behind.

Toy Story 4 was OK. I don't like how they split up, especially with the fact that Toy Story 3 ended with 'now we stick together as a family'. Another thing is how little the other characters were barely involved, nothing from the Potato Heads, Jessie barely made it into the film, also can we talk about how much of an idiot Buzz acted in this movie? Just wasn't that good in my opinion, I wish the franchise ended in Toy Story 3.

I agree. The movie was very underwhelming.
Well almost all of the previous toys like Rex and Slinky have actors that are getting really old and they probably don't have it in them to voice their characters that much anymore. Also the ending was perfect because it emphasized that Woody can't always stay with one child and should finally start making multiple kids happy.

I didn't cry when the movie reached its ending. I also left the theater unsatisfied. This just didn't feel like an ending. I still feel like there is something missing. But aside from that, I grew up with toy story. I watched the first and second one pretty much everyday from when I was 3 years old, to 6. Then the third one came out, and I teared up at the end. Now, 10 years later, there is a 4th one. I didn't watch any trailers, and only saw a few posters, so I knew Bo Peep was returning, but that was it. I watched the movie, and felt let down for some reason. I thought I would feel sad like everyone was saying, but I guess because of how connected I was, I had a different, unexpected reaction of getting really angry on the inside, that this was the last one, and I didn't get the conclusion my heart hoped for, and now I'll never get to see woody and buzz again. If they were gonna end the movie that way, they could've at least had buzz and woody actually be together for one last adventure, where instead, they were separated almost the whole movie. If they were gonna make a movie about woody, they should've made Toy Story 4 first, then a prequel, with Andy's dad and woody's real backstory. I feel so incomplete whenever I re watch Toy Story 4...

Woody has grown as a character from now so a prequel wouldn't make sense, this film takes a mature take on a broken character
it's felt right as a toy story 4 conclusion after all, it's a fantastic film overall and nothing about it felt "incomplete" AT ALL here for me nor should anyone.
I get your gripes, but Buzz was already in the 3. one just a side character and in the 2. one he was kind of important in the beginning because we could see his growth, but after a while his story in Toy Story 2 was just an assembly of entertaining actions scenes. But this is good, because it was always Woodys story, I wouldn’t had wanted that all 4 movies would be about their friendship. Since Toy Story 2 Buzz took the role of the best friend of the main character, nothing more, just the 1. one was mainly about their relationship.

MarioMovies Well, this movie was a questionable idea in and of itself. It really seemed like it paid off.
My dad passed away a few weeks ago and I've been trying to slowly recover from it. I'm in my early 30s and he was in his early 60s. I put this movie on today for the first time for my one year old and for some reason this movie just made me ball my eyes out. Something about Toy Story really reminds me of my childhood and makes me think about my dad. The whole franchise is just so amazing and will always be so near and dear to us millennials

That movie was so over hyped I can't even believe it. Different strokes for different folks and all that, but my wife and I thought Fury Road was bleh.
Zach Jordan I personally really enjoyed the movie. Both Max and Furiosa felt like real people and even the side characters were enjoyable. The cinematography was beautiful and the work that was put into the cars and practical effects were stunning. My only qualm with the film would be the main villain. We didn’t know much about him and the reasons behind his motives, but overall a great movie. But everyone has their own opinions :)
Not a perfect trilogy though, mad max 3 thunderdome was really bad...
I was honestly not planning to watch it but Keanu Reeves voicing a character called DUKE KABOOM... I'm sold

I put it off for years completely ignoring everything about it, but it really did surprise me with how good it was. My love for toy story has come back completely.

Yeah nah Incredibles 2 was incredibly disappointing. They completely changed the characters and just re-did some of the same character arcs from the previous film. It was just frustrating really

I saw it coming yet somehow a lot of people really didn't see it coming. To me it felt obvious and the right choice for Woody to leave Buzz and the gang. Woody didn't feel loved by Bonnie the way Andy did, and so with the re introduction of Bo he finds a way for him to help kids the same way he helped Andy and Bonnie. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a new Toy Story TV show on the Disney plus streaming service where we can see Woody and Bo with Keanu and Jordan Peele on their own adventures while at the same time seeing Buzz and the gang with Bonnie and Forky. Buzz really felt like an underdeveloped character this time around, but it's because of Tom Hanks and his fantastic work with Woody that the movie relies on for it to succeed the way it did. It will be very interesting to see if Buzz also feels like Woody and he somehow loses his ways because of Bonnie and not being with Andy.
There is a lot of ways that this franchise can go to and I'm very excited.

I don't mind the franchise continuing, I just wish they did spinoffs.

I’m genuinely surprised but I fucking love this movie too. It did not miss a single beat and it went in all the best ways possible, so I have to give them credit for that. So much of it was memorable, funny, relatable and emotional. Even the all of the new characters (and Bo Peep surprisingly) were flawless. All of the annoying traits you’d come to expect are just nonexistent and they managed to pull them all off as equally wholesome. Even the “villain” didn’t even want to harm anyone, she just wanted to have a chance to experience a new life like Woody did once and a quarter before, and the ending as touching as it was felt natural to me. I’m sure we’ll still get a Toy Story 5 at some point and things will start to go full circle again but they really did a good job with wrapping up everything important that was left over. It never felt boring, it never felt cringy, and time just felt like it flew by faster than it was. And honestly I liked this film a lot better than 3 since 3 was mostly a beat for beat reinterpretation of 2. The thing I like about Toy Story the most is that no matter what number it is in the series, it always feels like it’s own condensed story that continues on from the previous. 1 and 2 were definitely different and so was 4. 3 is still good don’t get me wrong but outside of Andy growing up it felt too safe. With Toy Story 4 though, I didn’t expect much and I had no idea where it was gonna go. I don’t even know where it’s gonna go after this movie in general. At least with 3 I could easily see what could happen next but 4? Man they really have a tough shell to break overtime and yet they still somehow did. It surprised me even more too because a lot of Pixar sequels more recently like Finding Dory and Cars 2 were both just decent or pretty bad respectively. I haven’t even seen Cars 3 yet even though it has little to do with 2, that’s how boring it was. Granted Cars 1 was never the best Pixar movie ever either but I still felt it had an actual point to it and I definitely see why people would love it. Finding Dory kind of has a point too but a lot of the journey itself just feels padded out and could’ve went along with better pacing, especially since it was only 2 or 3 characters max involved in one scene. In Toy Story 4 I was afraid that they were gonna do too many as evidenced by the amount of new characters, but I was wrong, they even wed them out just right for each particular scene and make them all seem just as important. Bo Peep is no longer *just* a side love interest either and was kinda shocked to see how they went along with her, and yet she felt natural and still in character to her original self as well. Forky has to be my favorite of the actual new characters just because of his dynamic with Woody alone and trying to find his place in the world. I’m still shocked at how precious he is.
Overall, I loved it. This movie was adorable. And now it’s going into newer directions too, so I can’t wait to see what else they could think up of if there’s ever going to be a Toy Story 5, which let’s be honest there likely will be. But hey if they’re just as good like you said, then I really don’t mind that at all. It was risky, but it was well worth the reward. No doubt that this will go down in history as a cult classic just like all the other 1995-2010 Pixar films did.
(Also can we just give them a round of applause for actually being able to make characters like Elastigirl and Bo Peep waifu material now, like seriously *damn.* I’m sure the ladies feel the same about most of the male characters too. Who would’ve thought that was even possible for pieces of plastic)

My favorite scene has to be the one where her arm just fell off and Woody was screaming in bloody murder. And of course that ending too but all of the emotional bits are obviously perfect in their own way.

The entire toy story trilogy was based around Woody’s belief that toys should stay loyal to their kids. In toy story 4 he gets one chance to run away with his girlfriend and completely destroys the first three movies. I was not satisfied with this film.
It does not "destroy" the original trilogy stop being such a drama queen. Toy story 4 was just mid leave it at that.
This was my favorite toy story movie. I was laughing and crying in the same minute. Such great writing, and the animation was stunning
The spork becoming sentient is a great premise. From there on I'm like "Ugh. A road trip." Also, two counter-arguments are on the way: Rambo and Terminator.

This movie is 100% a betrayal of who Woody is as a character. You mean to tell me that Woody, the guy from the very beginning that made it his mission to not only always be there for his kid no matter what but to also lead, protect and love his close group of friends (family), just decides to leave behind everything that defines him for a woman who had no problem leaving his ass at the beginning of the movie and never looked back? Not only is this character arc absolutely ludicrous but the continuation of this story is completely unnecessary given how beautifully Toy Story 3 ended. I mean what was the purpose of this? Why?!? What? So Woody barely gets played with so he says fuck this shit and you people I’m out? The only reason he’s not being played with is because YOU wrote that in the god damn screenplay. Making up a character plot point that forces Woody to definitively choose between his family/principals or a girl he kinda likes just because you thought “Make a 4th movie? I mean we can so then why not?”, is such a shame that’s truly baffling

I agree with @Steven Lee with his statement, I found Toy Story 3 a lot more emotional at the end but when I saw this movie, I liked it but there wasn't really any emotion for me so the movie didn't really have an impact on me either.

this movie was sooo...meh. i usually dont say this about disney movies, but i imagine only children will really really enjoy this one. my entire family & my bf thought it was terrible.
I never understood why everyone cries over these movies. Don’t get me wrong there enjoyable movies, but I have never found myself close crying to any of these movies.
