They will be fine with you not going uni if you are learning a good trade, joining the army or starting up a good business. most of the African islands where they took the slaves like Cabo verde, sao tome, seychelles etc. seem to be quite easy going as well. Obviously parents from all cultures value education and know that its can give them a very good future so of course they would encourage it. I am just saying that not all African parents are the stereotypical '' You have to go to uni, get all As in school, be a doctor or a lawyer'' which seems to be in a lot of peoples heads because most Nigerian and Ghanaian parents are like that so they think all African parents are like that.
