Let’s see if I get this right. The story so far: Leafy and Flare are just hanging out like usual when something happens. We’re still not entirely sure what, but Leafy is turned into a ghost and Flare is possessed by an entity known as Beast Flare. Lost to darkness happens in which, despite encouragement from his totally not girlfriend Leafy, Flare is overpowered by Beast Flare. Lazuli, realizing that her sister’s been gone for too long, goes out to try and find her, only to encounter who she believes is Flare. Lazuli is caught off guard and torched, with the normally arrogant Beast Flare keeping quiet due to knowing how she can fly off the rails at the slightest insult (I.E “Nasty Girl”). At a similar time, Black is psychologically tormented by visions of his brother Frost dying, causing him to drop his guard and die. Speed, worried about the four missing squad members, decides to go out with the rest of the squad in order to avoid being picked off one by one. He doesn’t fall for Flare’s disguise and comes close, but ultimately dies just after telling the rest of the squad to run. Beast somehow knew about Speed’s regeneration, either through accessing his host’s memories, Speed healing in their fight, or some other means, and decides to make Speed’s purgatory different, causing him to drown rapidly every time he resurrects himself. Though his soul is not useless, it’s unreliable due to Speed’s healing factor rendering his soul out of commission most of the time, though he is able to catch him in between deaths like in the mirror mode video. The rest of the squad split up, with the kids Sunshine and Axel being spared from any attacks. Silvia is confronted first, but she manages to lose him while only losing an eye in the process. Beast Flare then taunts Pearl about his previous victims in an attempt to demoralize her, but this instead invigorates her, triggering a state similar to the “Deathmatch Mode” seen in corruption mods. Beast Flare is quickly put on the backfoot, with him only not losing control over Flare’s body due to a well placed fireball blinding her. Last but not least is Crystal. She doesn’t know if he’s encountered any other squad members, so she tries to stall Beast Flare for as long as possible using acid armor. This works at first until Beast Flare catches her right as she emerges, slicing through her fins and tail like sushi. Beast Flare is about to go for the kill when….”OUT OF OUR WAY!” In a shocking turn of events, Leafy had been gathering her own energy, allowing herself to directly interfere with corporeal creatures, which allowed her to deliver a devastating punch to Flare that Lazuli would’ve been proud of. Leafy doesn’t give him any time to react as she delivers another punch, one that a Hitmonchan would be jealous of, and knocks him clean out. Considering Cris’ ability is Water Absorb, she may be able to restore the damage caused? Who knows? The good thing is that Leafy can interact with the mortal realm for now at least. Unfortunately, Beast Flare was still at large, though heavily drained. He decides to go after somebody weaker, being Frank. However, without his host’s berserker virus powers, he quickly finds himself on the backfoot again as he is unable to transform for long periods of time. He takes a gamble and summons Lazuli’s soul, which unfortunately proves to be an effective one. Silvia and Gai mourn the loss of their father, with him comforting them from the afterlife, as he had seemingly been spared from a B.Flare purgatory. Mirror mode happens, as while Flare is now actively rebelling, Frank’s soul was worth too much energy, and even support from Leafy still isn’t enough. However, he’s incredibly close to breaking out. Something seems to be happening with Black’s soul though, as he’s not seen in MM. My personal prediction for when Beast Flare is eventually defeated is a cover of Confronting Yourself Martian mix, with Berserker Virus Flare replacing Super Sonic.

It's kinda "soul shattering" that Lazuli and Black cannot fully die, but they're held in pernament agony by BeastFlare to his sick amusement
