Somehow this feels like the beginning of a Monty Python sketch.
The picture quality and the sudden zoom out.
The bemused passers by and the random dog help.
Ah the random TH-cam algorithm, we meet again.
This was a stupid segment, with a reporter who seems to think toilet germs are something that's capable of hiding in minuscule crevices, specifically to leap out and attack unsuspecting bench sitters decades later. I did love hearing those glorious Welsh accents though - it always feels as though my ears have been given a present when l hear Welsh people talking. Arohanui mai Aotearoa.
Kia ora! Too true - I was thinking the same.
This is the content we need more of.
I wonder if it's still there?
Riveting stuff!
Yes, we need to know. Is it still there? Has it been Grade 1 listed? Is the fish and chip shop still there? Do the boys still use the bench? How old are they now? This is what social media was invented for.
Troedyrhiw has changed so much in the last thirty years, I can't even work out where this bench used to stand. Steve Spiers, who grew up in Troedyrhiw, has made a comedy TV series about the place called 'The Tuckers'. He is probably a year or two younger than the boys sitting on the bench in this segment.
I love it. Is there a bench still there, and is the structure still there?
The irony. Not so many years ago a public convenience closed in Sea Mills, Bristol. After alteration work was carried out it then reopened as a cafe. (Ace royal HRH Princess Anne was the celebrity who performed the opening ceremony; I kid you not!). No one is fazed by its former use when they have their food and drink there so what's the big deal in Merthyr Tydfil with a public bench?
It's like the reporter is practicing how to present biased ragebait vapour, but in a safe space.
Amazing.
A urinal in Wales, you never needed a sign to tell you where it was.
That’s nothing. In Mid Devon there is a Thai restaurant in what used to be a public toilet block.
Slow news day?
Get out of it, in Merthyr Tydfil 😴? This is hot news and as exciting as it gets 🤣🤣🤣
Have questions been asked in the House about this?
Bench sitting? More like bench ignoring!
A triumph of parochial reporting. From the people to the people. Just don't tell anyone else.
