  • Paul was travelling on his journey to Rome when the ship they were in got caught in a storm and shipwrecked just off the coast of Malta. Miraculously he and everyone else on the ship survived as God still had a work for him to do, both on Malta but more significantly in Rome. Paul would spend a short time on the beautiful island of Malta before going to his final destination

Very interesting! It was St. Paul that brought Christianity to Malta. His shipwreck was a blessing in disguise.

God bless all those who sacrificed their means and even life for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and not to enrich themselves and live lavishly, as do many we are seeing today.

We now know that the location called St. Paul's bay in Malta, was not the true location of Paul's shipwreck, but rather St. Thomas bay, furthur south.

Acts 27:27 - says that they were on the Adriatic Sea. Malta is not in the Adriatic sea. Malta has no poisonous vipers, and no history that they have ever had poisonous vipers. There is an island in the Adriatic called Mljet -- which has the horned viper - Europe's deadliest snake. The islands's name in Latin: Melita, Italian: Meleda It is more probable that the name of the island was not transcribed properly. It is now an embedded tradition that it was Malta.

The Bible says they let the ship drive into the mouth of a smalll river with the four anchors deployed, Bob carnuke of California researched this site using the Bible and standing on shore he could see where waves were breaking on the left and breaking on the right he talked to one of the residents and they said years ago four anchors were found at low tide in the mouth of this river one anchor is at the home of a local resident and three are in a museum on the island read your bible

why do you call it Malta when the Bible says Melita?

Melita is the name used during Roman Times. Now it's called Malta.

might of happened that way but why is the story told in such a factual way with not a pick of evidence or literary reference given anywhere?

probably because he believes the Bible. oh and the residents make much ado about the history of Pauls shipwreck there even now

The story is very clearly given in the book of Acts. Also, the anchors were found exactly where the Bible said they dropped them, and are now in a museum on Malta.

Tradition! Neither St Paul nor any of the other Apostles had the bible. Malta is a Catholic country. St Paul was shipwrecked there before a word of the NT was written. He was beheaded in ROME.

Paul and the apostle’s Bible was the Tanahk/OT and the NT was written by Paul, as well as several others, in real time during their lives via letters to the churches that those NT books are addressed to. Malta was not Catholic in Paul’s day because Catholicism didn’t exist yet.
