Whats good P just watched with my girl and somehow you made her interested in the draft lol. But on the real as a spurs fan I was hurt when we traded Rob until I realized that it was a win-win for both parties. We already have our rob in devin vessel and the spurs got draft capitol to move in a trade for a more established guard and the Twolves got the shot creation and scoring they very well needed and they also have more of the names and players that hide Rob on defense that the spurs don’t have. I love the addition of Stephon Castle out of Uconn and our second round additions of a playmaking guard and defensive wing that we needed. I just hope whoever we trade for with those picks works out for the squad Im looking at Dejounte Murray, Trae Young, Darius Garland type names to pair with wemby and we’ll be on a great trajectory. Much Love!

Pierre my man, Detroit picked Holland and you said that Holland would probably be there at 9, I firmly believe that Charlotte was looking for a wing at 6, and ended up reaching on one in Tidjaune Salaun the pick immediatly after. Remember these teams keep their information close to their chest and for all we know the Hornets loved Holland. I don’t mind taking him at 5 especially if you believe the ‘falling out of lottery’ rumors were just smoke screens

As a Wizards fan i hated the trade when i first heard we made it but after the draft and some time, I don’t mind it as much specifically because I at least see the vision Will Dawkins has. I think we got 3 solid guys in the draft between Sarr, Bub, and George and have been stashing up picks so that next draft we can get the guy whether it’s Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey. It’s good value for Deni, last i heard it was 2 firsts, a pick swap, 2 seconds and Brogdon who obviously can get us more down the line. It wasn’t what i was expecting at all going into the offseason but like i said i see the vision and I definitely like the idea. Hopefully it can work out for us 😅

I disagree with the Rockets scenario. If the Spurs were not drafting behind the Rockets, They might have consider trading the pick more. Spurs had 2 shots at Castle, If you let Sheppard fall to 4, they can potentially pick up both Reed and Castle, the 2 top guards in the draft, and Rockets needed to leave with a guard. You could argue Dillingham might still be on the board, but given how aggressively Wolves pursued him, they might jump the Grizzlies pick(They did)

They would have gave up a future pick. The problem is, the Rockets for example, were asking for a king’s ransom for a team to move up to #3 in a non top heavy draft.
So the Rockets settled for taking a player at #3 who probably would have fell outside of the top 10 if they didn’t take him at #3. They more than likely will regret not taking what they could get and moving back.

Why do you think older players don’t have much upside…??? When the history of the NBA completely disagrees with that statement.
Most draft picks in the 80’s and 90’s were in their 20’s when they got drafted. Jordan & Hakeem turned 22 during their rookie season. Do you think they didn’t have upside…???
Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Curry, D-Wade, etc. were all 21-22 when they got drafted.

    • @sonole3

It's because those guys from the 80s, 90s, 00s, etc, mostly, had been touted prospects throughout their high school and college careers. Most great prospects now are one and done, very few guys with high upside stay in college for 3-4 years. That, and typically when people say "high upside" they typically mean more room to grow, not necessarily that they will be bad.
There have been plenty of guys recently that have came out and balled after a few years in college, the Nova boys come to mind (almost all the ones on the Knicks played multiple years at Nova), and even last year Jaime Jacquez did his time at UCLA and came out and played very good for the Heat, but you typically don't see these guys develop into superstars now, but rather just regular stars or very good roleplayers.

    • @slickrick8046

      @@sonole3
Most prospects are one & done in general in this era. But that doesn’t mean that the older players who come in the league don’t have upside.
You proved my point with players like Jalen Brunson who turned 22 before his rookie season started. Jaquez turned 23 during his rookie season and he may just keep getting better. Austin Reaves was 23 when he got drafted and he’s a baller.
Dalton Knecht has pretty much been ballin’ since he was in college (including J-Co). None of the teenagers selected in this draft may never reach the offensive level he’s at right now and he still has room for growth.
Players like Knecht, Carter, and Shannon…along with the previous players mentioned, may eventually get people to stop pushing the false narrative that older players have no upside.

    • @sonole3
      @sonole3 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@slickrick8046 You missed part of what I was saying. They usually mean potential when saying upside, meaning room to grow. Like I said, most of these guys don’t grow into superstars or even stars, they’re just solid players

First off, there are very few super stars in the league. Most players, regardless of their age when they come in the league, don’t become super stars or even stars (depending on the definition).
I didn’t miss what you said. You missed what I said. Assuming older players “don’t have room to grow” is false. Jalen Brunson, who you brought up, proves it to be false and the history of the NBA proves it to be false.
Also, most of the young players will spend their rookie contracts (or most of) to get to the level of some of the older players coming in the league who are ready to play now.

Just to add…older players like Reaves, Jaquez, and Keegan Murray were drafted by teams that are trying to win now and already had good rosters and or star players. They more than likely would have been way more productive if they were drafted by rebuilding teams where they would have more opportunity to play which would accelerate their growth.
Just like this year Knecht, Shannon, and Carter landed on teams with good rosters and or have star players already. Which could prevent them from making a run at rookie of the year although they may be the best players in this class.

I just don’t understand how u feel so strongly about Clingan being able to provide so much value and impact for the Blazers and not have any major concerns about his game but Edey was a reach for the Grizz and u don’t think he’ll be able to really make much of a difference for them cause u think he’s gonna get played off the court and is giving out backup center minutes as the 9th overall pick. To me DC and Edey are the same caliber of player, main difference is Clingan was leaned on as a defensive hub and post playmaker, and Edey was the offensive paint beast with high defensive upside. They’ll both get hunted on switches on the perimeter but Edey has JJJ, Marcus, Clarke, etc to lean on in those situations. DC is a one man band out there defensively. Can he take being played heavy starter minutes compared to what he had to play at UCONN? Grizz knew who they wanted, and if their FO is to be believed, they wanted the draft to play out this way. Edey was their guy from the jump and the GM said on record there was no real discussions for trading up. They’ve been scouting him since his 2nd year in Purdue, I’m sure they have the kinks worked out on how and when to play him. The only issue is that you think they should’ve traded back when it wasn’t necessary. Dont deal with the hassle of trying to work deals out, or risk him not falling to you if u do. Get your guy now, deal with the rest later.

Respect you but especially Holland I think he’s a different level from those other wings.
You can’t equivocate with all these guys just cuz we don’t know who hits.
It’s easy to say trade back, or trade up, but to on one hand say teams should ignore mock drafts and go by their values, but then act like it’s clear other teams don’t want your guy or these fallback players are fine options.
Teams expected to find the “right” guy, can’t be fully agnostic about these players.
Think you are oversimplifying the risks because

As a pistons fan, i was hoping Reed somehow fell to us 😭 but it definitely seemed like we were set on Matas, Ron was a shock. But i’m putting my trust in Langdon and the shooting coach. in a few years if Ron and Ausar can become respectable from 3, with how athletic our team is, we could definitely be scary in a few years

Objectively it is if all 30 nba teams agree its a weak draft idk why as a fan u feel like u can disagree even when people not even in the nba are saying the same thing. It doesn't mean good players won't come from the draft this year but pretty much every lottery pick had a major glaring hole. A lot of 3 and d wings without either 3 or d, the guards also had issues Reed and Rob are small tho Reed has a lot more nba ready body and topic who would've been the number 1 guard has major knee concerns with an already torn acl
