    I discovered an almost king size “yo yo” circle quilt at the thrift store a few months ago. It was $6.00. At first I thought WOW! All those hours of work and fabrics with history….but I don’t need it. As I was checking out I stopped and ran back to get it. I couldn’t ignore how precious it was. So now it graces the back of my couch. It’s missing about ten “yo yos” but I plan to add them and submit it to our fair here in Hamilton MT just for everyone to appreciate. I’m thankful for your tutorial as now I understand how to finish this very heavy but beautiful quilt.💕

    Very easy to understand! Others would lead you to believe you have to buy special equipment to make these.

    I center a circle (1/2” smaller in diameter than the yoyo fabric) made of paper or other material that can take the heat of an iron. Then fold and press the 1/4” all the way around. You then have that pressed fold to follow when stitching.

    Added tip for beginners: Make fairly long running stitches around the perimeter. The yo-yo will gather up more nicely than when using short running stitches. In fact, if short running stitches are used, the fabric might not even meet in the center of the yo-yo when it is gathered.

    I made a yo to quit last year. I used button thread in one color. You can find it in your local Walmart. I don't remember how many yo yos I made but it was over two hundred. Beginning measurement of my circle was 6 inches. When I put them together, I laid yo yos across the top of my bed to figure out how many across and I did the same for the length. Be sure to add for hanging took er the sides and length. To sewthem together take two to yos and hold them back to back and sew several stitches (in one place) in the top. Add another to yo the same way at the bottom. Do this until your row is the length you want. Do this until you have enough rows you need. To sew the rows together put the back one row to the back of another and sew them together using the same method. Before I did this, I laid all of the rows on my bed and sorted them because I used random colors and didn't want two of the same color together. Making yo yos is something you can do in the evening while watching TV. Have fun with it!

    Stitch 2 yoyo flat sides together, lace between outer edges. Add 2 buttons with shanks, and a lace collar. Add hanging loop for hanging on your Christmas tree. 😁

    Love your videos!...Would love to see a video on:: some sort of personalized sewn/quilted/crafted fabric ornament with a pocket to hang on the Christmas tree (mini stocking?)...to put money/cheques in for the kids at Christmas time...any ideas? We are doing away with stockings as my kids are all adults now...they are sad to see them go but it is time...will bring them back for grandkids! :-)

    • @trinam2503
      @trinam2503 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My mom still hangs our stockings every year. She just added more for the grandkids. She has made each of them and they have all ourbnames on them. We dont put anything in them tho. They are just decor. :)
      Mini stockings are a great idea! And so easy to personalize! Another idea would be to make a small quilt block in each persons favorite colors, almost like a mini pot holder, and add a pocket to the back.
