    This movable sheep pen is perfect for our homestead operation. We have a deposit on one of these and will be putting it to pasture in one month! We couldn't figure out how to have sheep until this pen.

    Clever operation from people who really understand sheep. The sheep really seem to enjoy that grass also.

    My grandfather invented the first sheep tractor. He would just stuff the sheeps back legs into his cowboy boots then just push the sheep around the yard.

    Just wondering. Do you make something similar for pigs? Goats?

    This is a great idea I think with little improvements this could be a very nice cage I think if you put the door in the Corner it would keep it from sagging down you could have fold up and down around the Perimeter with wire or hing it. Hanging auto waterer along with feed and Mineral then they would be set. One thing that would be a lot more labor but help with the sagging and the strength would be in stead for putting the wire directly on the square tubing and welding it. a better way would be to drill holes in the middle of the square tubing and Encapsulate the wire it would keep it from sagging and not need that center brace possibly....

      They don't need anything but water and shade when free ranging. I have never bought any food for my goats and sheep ever in summer or winter. Only water. And they are great.

    Great idea....Can these be used for goats?

    • @Nurk0m0rath
      @Nurk0m0rath 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd be wary of that unless you de-horn or use a smaller mesh. My aunt's goats used to get stuck in similar fencing on a daily basis. The problem is that their heads can fit through the wire, but when they straighten up, their horns get caught in the wire and they can't figure out how to untangle themselves. You need a mesh that's too small to get their horns through, unless you de-horn them.

    • @SherrickDuncan

      Hardware cloth would work for that.

      If you’re interested in rotationally grazing goats maybe check out Ben Habig’s TH-cam channel. We rotationally graze goats with two strands of electric wire. I think this idea is great for very small areas and few animals, but if you’d like something on a larger scale there are other options.

      @@Nurk0m0rath Simple fix, add 1"x2" chicken wire. it's bigger guage is nice for enclosures, also see sheep fencing. Would easily wire to the origional set up

  • @karenbratcher400

    Nice concept but seems like all the metal and wheels would be costly not only to make but to ship. And how do you keep coyotes from squirming through the big space under the sides, or jumping over? Electric net such as from Premier 1 is very easy to move, and with a portable charger can be put anywhere.

    • @KimberlyFlores
      @KimberlyFlores 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      UNLESS you ground is full of rocks 3" down like mine. I use the netting and poly braid - the hardest part is driving the posts.
      I'm ready for something like this.

    • @tickledpink6684
      @tickledpink6684 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you had a Texas wolf as a pet, it was raised in captivity. We only had two native wolves, the gray and the red. They've both been extrirpated in the wild for decades, other than those that were saved as part of a breeding program for wildlife preservation run by TPWD. Nobody said anything about coyotes. I'm well aware we have them considering my land is surrounded by two separate packs the majority of the year. They're not jacking with sheep in a pen unless there's a drought on making game scarce. I have two dozen goats that free range. The only thing that ever gets messed with is newborns that I don't get penned up within the first couple days. We do have a mountain lion that's been wreaking havoc in the area for the last 7 months but that's an intermittent thing.
