And although there are some issues with side-effects, especially from low quality products, there are many clinical trials that clearly show a lot of potential health benefits. Our channel features one spirulina video that highlights the top 6 spirulina benefits based on clinical studies, and more will come as we continue to research this incredible superfood (and others).

Its your body, take charge, do your research, change your eating habits no gluten after all its only you that can feel pain.

    He said himself that spirulina is very high in chlorophyll. But says that it's only good for hay fever to a small degree. Though if you search chlorophyll you will see that it is excellent at removing toxins from the body. Toxins in the body are the cause of many diseases and why people feel bad.

    • @Stephend005
      @Stephend005 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I take both spirulina and chlorella but this comment has a few problems the main one being the sentence "if you search you will see". Medical professionals do not base their comments of Google searches of health vlogs. They are giving a professional opinion and unless their comment can be backed up by large scale random controlled trials or meta-analysis then you shouldn't be making a comment as a professional. By research studies I do not mean some trial that studied 10-50 people, it is the breadth of research and the overall consensus. Hunting a picking does not count.

    • @artisticmike
      @artisticmike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Stephend005 Just because you may only use google to search does not mean that is what I meant when I said search. Though google pulls up some good articles as well. I search medical journals, pubmed and ncbi. There are many articles there that speak of the studied benefits of spirulina. This doctor said in so many words that spirulina is basically useless, and I don't think any study shows that to be true. So whether or not there are many studies that meet all of your requirements, he was still talking out of place. He could have said it is Unknown as to whether or not it has these benefits. But even if he did have a study meeting your requirements proving it is useless, large studies are often funded by pharmaceutical companies, which have no interest proving a cheap(relative to their meds) herb can heal or greatly benefit people. I don't fault him for not claiming spirulina has wonderful benefits, rather for suggesting that does not have much of any benefit.

    • @Stephend005
      @Stephend005 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artisticmike the trouble you’re going to run into here with the assumptions you have made about me is you do not know anything about me. You don’t know that I am a qualified and registered health care professional who reads peer reviewed journals everyday since my work has subscriptions to basically all of them. We also have weekly journal club meetings where we all discuss as a group different research we have found and critique it for conflicts of interest and methodologies. I personally like these supplements and take both spirulina and chlorella, but more broadly I have a huge problem with people cherry picking their research. Just being able to find something that supports your view isn’t good enough. It’s the consensus across that board that is important across all the research that meets a good standard.
      EDIT- not saying you are doing that, but the wording in your original comment implied it. Either way cheers to good health friend.

    The truth is that it only has a miniscule amount of the b12 to begin with. One tablespoon (7)grams only contains 0.1 pg. So I doubt that it's going to interfere much in blocking a huge dose of true b12 suppliment called Methylcabalamin. Most B12 suppliments are not the real deal. Its just Cabalamin.

    He promotes a pharmaceutical anti-Histamine over a natural supplement Spiralina indicating one is more expensive? If you look at overall cost in the long term by far Spiralina wins hands down, by improving overall health. We do not want to suppress Histamine production, we want to know why it is high and treat the underlying problem. Who is paying this person and where did he get his education?

    dr j iv'e been drinking hawaiian spirulina powder for 4 months now.
    my body, my joints feel great, but i started experiencing some aches at the top of my spine, base not my neck about 2 month ago. not pain but a present ache/soreness. it's new to me, so i know it's not just incorrect posture when sitting or lying down.
    what could be happening here?

    Thank you for creating this informative video. I have been considering growing spirulina on my own, but have been worried about the purity of the culture (which I have no way to verify on my own). My second concern is the nutrients that need to be added to the solution regularly. Specifically the list below.
    NaCl
    CaCl2.2H2O
    KNO3
    NaNO3
    FeSO4
    EDTA (Na)
    K2SO4
    MgSO4・7H2O
    NaHCO3
    K2HPO4
    A5 micronutrient (H3BO3, MnCl2.4H2O, ZnSO4.4H2O Na2MoO4,CuSO4.5H2O)

      @Mersal 13 My recommendation is to read many different resources. Pay attention to any that seem extreme to you or biased, like this one. If you decide to purchase some find a knowledgeable health food store or go by reviews (cited by different sources) as to quality. Also, if you do decide to buy some, go by what your body tells you. That’s the biggest resource of all. I can definitely tell a positive difference, someone else may not. Good luck and happy researching!

      It's also possible that you were deficient in vitamin B12 before you started taking spirulina if you had poor nutrient absorption due to gastrointestinal issues or if you were not eating enough animal products like eggs, meat, dairy products, etc. which are all good sources of B12.

    • @IsInstantLife
      @IsInstantLife 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This guy makes twists the arm of science. It's true it doesn't matter the origin of a compound but here he is comparing different compounds, phycocyanin is actually a protein, which we can digest and break down and has a lot of potential beneficial effects. There is no synthetic phycocyanin, we don't make proteins in a lab such a thing is very very difficult to do, we rely on biological systems to make phycocyanin. Most blue food dyes are smaller organic molecules (organic meaning containing carbon) these compounds are man made and therefore no biological system in history has ever had to deal with them. We don't know what effects these compounds will have on human health in the long term, these small compounds are more akin to the signalling compounds in our bodies like hormones, which who know what receptors they are binding to and interacting with.

    “There’s no difference between natural or synthetic…”
    Hilarious! In that one sentence this chemist demonstrates he has no idea what the words nutrition and natural mean.
    Of course all molecules are the same! But nutrition is all about how molecules work TOGETHER within nature to produce their effects! You can change ONE atom of a molecule and you’ll get a completely different molecule producing drastically different results. Plus, there is no logical way to know, before you observe them, exactly how two molecules or compounds are going to react together or that might happen in an impurity is accidentally introduced. That’s what makes nutrition do hard to figure out.
    It’s astounding a man with a Ph.D can be so ignorant. The problem is he thinks having a Ph.D in one subject makes him an expert in two others: nutrition and medicine.
    This is a clear demonstration of the arrogance of modern scientistry (science as a profession); that they believe if you tear something apart and separate all its parts from one another you can understand how the whole works together. That’s nonsense. All of nature is a SYSTEM, as fine-tuned of the universe at the moment of the Big Bang. Nutrition perhaps even more so!
    I don’t know what the truth is about spirulina. But the one thing I do know is, he is wrong.

      @@terrifictomm The appeal to naturalness is a marketing tactic used by companies to sell plants at higher prices to new age quacks who romanticize a pure conception of nature.

      Why don't you quote him out of context? I'm guessing he knows more about this than you. Or do you have a youtube channel that I missed? In any case, Dr Joe was discussing COLORS in candy, not spirulina or nutrition.

      Just for a start...do you believe natural colors are the same as those made in a chemistry lab? Just. For. A. Start.

    I love spirulina. I use it when I make soap to get a pretty green colour. I can't emagine anyone consuming it though, it smells gross !
