    The reason the top cover is separated from the batting and the bottom cover as if you ever had a blanket or light sleeping bag or jacket with heavy stitching the wind would actually come through go stitching holes so they eliminated that potential air gap leak it's a feature deliberately done in engineered into the blanket

    Out of 100 lightwieght camping blanket ive tried, THIS IS THE WINNER. It is 100 times better than even the Stellar blanket from thernarest worth 150 dollars. Snugpak is the WINNER here.

    Nice review..really versatile item too....but like sleeping bags, it can be just stuffed into it's bag; but don't store it in it's bag........

    This thing works great under a quilt for extra warmth on those cooler nights in the spring and fall.

    Thanks for the detailed review. I just came across this item on Massdrop and am looking into it. I think it will work into my kit well. I appreciate your comments about stitching and comfort level.

    Look at the inside of your bag. The straps go all the way around the blanket and sew to themselves putting very little strain on the nylon shell. I think it’s an awesome bag. I have the Jungle Blanket XL and it goes inside that same size bag I think. Mine fits very tight inside (...what she said!).
    My Jungle Blanket XL fits really nicely on a diagonal over the mosquito netting on my hammock. I have the Warbonnet Eldorado and the blanket attaches to it like it was designed to go on it. I can then tuck the two tails hanging down into my underblanket giving me a nice pod style winter shelter under my main tarp.
    I agree with you that it is a little slippery. I may add some plastic snap buttons to mine to make a footbox and hopefully help keep it in place when I use it as a topquilt in the summer.
    ...I just stuff mine into the bag - no folding and rolling. After half of it is stuffed in the bag, I put it down and press my fist into it and then finish stuffing. It only needs to barely fit in the bag, then I compress it with the straps, undo the lid and tuck the lid in properly.
    And if the insulation was sewn through both outer shells it would leave cold spots where the insulation is compressed by the stitching.

      They must have changed the stuff sacks. I just looked at mine to make sure and mine are sown on the sides and they stop at the bottom. The ones on mine don't go all the way round the bag :(

      ZimCo Survival : That’s a bummer. Yeah, mine go all the way around the whole blanket when it’s compressed. Otherwise I would be afraid to tighten it very hard.

      ZimCo Survival : Just to be clear, from the outside of the bag it looks like the straps stop, but on the inside of the bag they go all the way around and are sewn together.

    HUGE mistake in stuffing it back into the sack. NEVER roll any bag before stuffing and compressing. Grab it loose and just stuff into the bag as you turn the bag slowly. You also do not want to keep the bag in the sack long term as it destroys the loft and eliminates dead air space in the blanket.

    • @ZimCoSurvival
      @ZimCoSurvival  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +ADKMTNS I agree, I have since stopped rolling before stuffing :)

    • @bereantrb
      @bereantrb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Correct. Any blanket, sleeping bag, underquilt, etc. always simply gets stuffed back into the sack. It's easier plus it is better for the insulation since it avoids compressing the same spots (the folds) over and over.
