Hi mate. Love these. They’re my number 1 camping accessory I recommend to most people. I bring two & with a few clips, alter the bottom and side a bit so my feet and sides stay toasty but still have plenty of room so I’m not coffined up like a sleeping bag! Very versatile, love how they pack down neat and tidy too. Cheers! Bring on Spring/Summer 2024!
I just got the XL about a week ago after seeing your video a few weeks ago. I have three of their sleeping bags including the Antarctica along with various accessories and this has been on my list for a while and I finally decided to get one. This will be great to use with a reflective emergency blanket on top if temperatures are very cold. I'm in Canada and I always order from Amazon UK because it's a better deal. I see complaints in a few comments below but I have never had any issues. Sometimes people blame the product when it's improper use of the product and it's the people who should be blamed. Cheers.
I have both sizes, love mine…. Comes in handy in so many situations! The kids love them too! Summer under / over blanket for the hammock, summer quilt in the tent, beach blanket (uk weather can turn chilli in an instant) picnic blanket, pillow, love it!
Without the poncho liner, you "woobie" cold. As an old grunt, it was one of my prized possessions. I still have my original, almost 40 years later lol.
I've carried one of these for years, they are great on long haul flights, at airports when your flight is delayed, as emergency shelter with a bivvy bag on a hike, warmth for kids when they come out of the sea, in the car, etc, etc. A really great travel or car kit item.
I'm off to Germany next week and the regular Jungle Blanket is 100% coming travelling with me. I just need to make sure I get the OK from my daughters 😆 Hope you're well buddy
Got a few of the XL's, fine for 1 to 2 season sleeping on their own and a handy overquilt to let you use a lighter (and smaller) sleeping bag apart from the coldest weather. As you say, handy for the car etc too. Thanks for the review.
In the Canadian forces we call them ranger blankets. our issued ones are awesome, they zip up to make a sleeping bag and also have a head hole that zips out to turn it into a poncho
Hey buddy. I think I know what you mean. I've seen a few others out there that zip up like that. I think the Polish pinch liner does similar. Sounds like some great future content 😂 Hope you're having a top week buddy

Hi Mike, hopefully this helps. The comments section seems to agree these are great to have a round. You're closer to the north Pole than I am so it must be colder up there 😆 All the best fella
Hi mike. I was reluctant and skeptical on them too, especialy considering the price and the fact that we already had several poncho liners, but using one was a game changer. They are more flexible, warmer, less weight, and larger size than poncho liners. We have the large and the xl, and use them camping and on the bed at home during the summer months. We have had ours probably just over three years now. They wash really well and in my opinion get better the more you wash them. Its not often I recommend products, but the Jungle bags are an exception im happy to make. Get the xl if you can as its brilliant for sleeping in and has mostly replaced my sleeping bag in all but the coldest temperatures when used in my bivvy bag.
Those jungle blankets are not the same as the US woobie. The insulation and cover fabrics are far superior. Woobies, officially known as poncho liners, allegedly were so named by the troops they were initially issued to because "without one, you woobie cold" so the legend goes. But back to the jungle blankets. We have had the jungle blankets for several years now, I have the XL and my wife has the Large, and we use them for all sorts of things outdoors and in all kinds of situations. Our most unexpected love for them is as light weight duvets on or bed and they get nightly use all summer. separate light weight duvets on our bed stop all the fighting over the bedding in the night and we find the jungle blankets perfect for us. I have to also mention that they wash repeatedly very well and if anything get warmer and softer after a wash. Much of the year the xl is my preferred bedding while out camping and its only when the thermometers reading single digits and into the minus range that the big old sleeping bag gets used. In deep winter -20c I typically use my arctic issue sleeping bag with a buffalo pile liner, and I was surprised to find upon experimentation that the xl used instead of the buffalo liner gives almost as much warmth boost without the extra bulk. I do own and use several Poncho liners including the dutch surplus poncho liner which is bigger and warmer than the USGI and clone liners. The dutch liner and the dutch poncho are in my opinion than the rest on the market by a long shot, But the jungle blankets stand head and shoulders over the dutch liners. Liners and blankets can be worn in a multitude of ways, over and under other kit and clothing, not to mention as a supplement for sleeping bags or as stand alone sleep systems, and had the jungle blanket been available when i was still serving in the forces, it would have definitely replaced my sleeping bag most of the year much like the dutch poncho and liner often did. My advice to anyone wanting a light weight bombproof sleep system that works most of spring summer and autumn in a temperate climate is to invest in a dutch army surplus roll up foam sleeping pad, a British issue bivvy bag, and a snugpack jungle blanket XL, used under a properly sited and set up tarp or British issue basha. And when the temperature drops just add a British arctic bag.

The woobie is a totally different item. I have both the jungle blanket and the woobie. I use the jungle blanket almost daily and it's far superior to the woobie in my opinion. The woobie isn't water repellent and its also quilted which can mean cold spots. It is great though that it ties in with the poncho, which then makes it reasonably warerproof, windproof and can tie-up to make a bag. A bivi bag and jungle blanket makes that option redundant though.. Hmm, poncho for clothing and shelter too.. Options options lol
Entertaining but didn't realise until you said at the end that Snugpak sent you these for free. So the video was really an advert for this jungle blanket. I think it would have been better if you had mentioned that at the beginning.
Hi fella, Hope you're well and having a great Thursday. Yes, I used to say it at the beginning however I got people saying they wanted to get to know about the product faster so I moved it to the end. I've found the TH-cam algorithm prefers that I get in to the swing of things faster too. I have a great relationship with Snugpak so we have an agreement that if I didn't like the product I'd tell them before hand. I've tell them about this things I either didn't like or things I'd change and then they'd make the decision on the content. I know there's lots of TH-camrs who just make content for content's sake, and not everybody tests products thoroughly. I've had these now for about 6 months to test and genuinely do think they're great. I'm fortunate enough that TH-cam is a hobby that funds itself. There are lots of products I refuse if I feel they're either not suited for me or I couldn't give them a fair review. Apart from receiving the products, I don't ask for any money from anybody I work with as I don't want to feel I have to review favourably Have a look through the comments here, hopefully you'll see lots of others who also love these blankets. I hope that helps clear how I try to work to keep things fair and honest. All my best, Randy
@@MoorlanderEDC Hiya matey. There is nothing wrong with getting free stuff. But this here - "Apart from receiving the products, I don't ask for any money from anybody I work with as I don't want to feel I have to review favourably" - I have have heard that a few times before. Whether you agree with me or not, if you have been given something to review that still means you have been paid because you get to keep the item. It might not be cash money, but it's worth cash money. "Free stuff" reviews are, by default, going to be biassed in the companies favour because nobody will bite the hand that feeds them. You might tell them behind closed doors if you don't like something but do you tell your viewers? The only way you could possibly be totally unbiased, agender free and not influenced by the company in any way is by buying the things you review with your own money. Also I believe the real reason you tell people it's an advert for a paid for review, via been given a free product, at the end of your videos is because you know a lot of people will click off and go elsewhere if you tell them at the beginning and THAT hurts your TH-cam logarithm. If anyone really wanted to watch your video of this or any product, they wouldn't complain about there been 3 or 4 seconds at the beginning of a video where you tell them it's paid for by the company. At the end of the video it doesn't matter because the video has already been watched so it's too late for a viewer to make an informed decision whether to watch or not watch a paid for review. Peace and enjoy your day :)
@@MrEvilWasp No, I totally get what you're saying here. If it helps, yes, I do have section in plenty of content in the past where I'd said there was things I'd change. I have a fairly open outlook to products and appreciate me not liking a certain ZY or Z might be something that doesn't bother somebody else, and it's a positive n their eyes. I stay clear of pros and cons. I definitely add 'things I'd change' to content and have done lots in the past. I think it's a more fair way to look at it. It offers advice back to the manufactures on future updates, and gives an idea to future purchasers that I'd possibly change things, and whether or not they'd agree that's something they can then choose is a positive or negative I appreciate you might have decided my choice to add to the end of the video has been done for some nefarious seasons, however I can assure it's not. If I wanted to, I could just not mention it and add it to the description, but I choose not to. If you want to believe I'm wrong that's cool, feel free to look through my previous content. Hopefully you'll see I'm just a regular fella doing something I enjoy that hopefully helps others. I'm not making £millions here, I'm just enjoying my time of TH-cam and hoping others enjoy the time with me too. I'm incredibly grateful that I get to work with some amazing companies and test out some amazing products a long the way. If it pleases you, from now on, I'll add a note to every piece of content and the product was sent to me, and then as usual, thank the manufacturers at the end Hope you're having a good day too buddy 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC thanks, not using it for sleeping, just for chilling out on a groundsheet, under a tarp and having a cook out in the forest with the fam 👍
Hi Tim, yes, it's pretty much a summer sleeping bag without the zips. They do another version called the Jungle Bag which is very similar but with the zips. It's lovely and warm. You can keep very cosy with one
I like snugpak, but this sound like something new which is adding extra piece of equipment, NRC will do the same job in emergency. If you can use it as improvised sleeping bag or underkilt than ok.
You could use this for lots of things. The blanket specifically can't be zipped up like a bag however there is a similar products, the Jungle Bag, which does. The blanket doesn't have corner ties but you could still use it as an under blanket for a hammock with some paracord and simple knots. Others have commented here they've used as a summer blanket whilst camping. I've seen people mod these with velcro to use as a sleeping bag cover to add an extra season to a lighter bag Haven't come across NRC before. What's that?
@@MoorlanderEDCNRC foil, like emergency blanked, if not used for medical bloody purposes, 100% reusable. You can make a tarp of it, bivy, floor or wrap around yourself, weights nothing, takes almost no space at all (wallet size) and costs like 2£. With me at all times even in urban jungle. And this snugpak even if made properly is just a fancy additional add on in my opinion.

There are people who say it came from the Vietnam era and the film copied that? Definitely plenty of Rangers who have been using the term for a long time.
The origin of the "woobie" from the poncho liner's Wikipedia article: "They gained the nickname "woobie" later; that term is conjectured to have derived from the name for a child's security blanket in the 1983 movie Mr. Mom."
I thought it might have been that but wanted to believe it was some sort of Hoo rah Rangers Lead the Way manly meaning 🤣 I had an ex in my 20s and she had a grotty old blanket she had from when she was a baby she called her woobie. It was moth eaten and smelt awful
@@MoorlanderEDC Maybe it hadn't been washed since that and/or the smell was the magic to keep the boogeyman away.. (Other definition what I found was "Any object, typically a blanket, garment or stuffed animal, that is used simply for its comforting characteristics; a security blanket.") I'm sorry to break your dreams about the name, maybe there is another version of it somewhere, like "it was named named in his honor after the mighty John James Woobie who led the famous unit of Woobie's Raiders in the frontier who were known for ambushing their opponents with blankets" ;-)
Woobie - If you don't use one, you "would be" cold hence "woobie". Ta da..! Could it be that being short that Moorlander are related to Hobbits.? Answer of the day. In my capacity as the 624 Crowned Monarch of the Kingdom of the Moorlander I doth thee the title of honorary Court Oracle 🍻🖖 Hobbits are distant relatives to the people of the Moorlands. Over the centuries we've got taller and less plumb, however we still have feet that can walk on fresh snow with out the need for snowshoes. We can sneak up on a badger walking across broken glass, autumn leaves and potatoes crisps without being detected. The term Ninja comes from the Japanese for Moorlander #NothingButFacts Yeah, there's plenty of times I'm be looking at some trousers where I have them, then need to switch into them for B roll footage. Have been found by several dog walkers in the past with very concerned looks on their faces. Much love brother 👍
Court Oracle - So that means those farmers have to address me as "Sir" hence therefore I am no longer a commoner nor am I a peasant. By the way matey, do I have the power to say "off with his head"?@@MoorlanderEDC
I will openly admit that I got my wires crossed when I made this content. I wrongly though the woobie was a blanket. I have definitely learned quite a lot more about them since making this and have some poncho liner/woobie content in the works to correct my error. I'll definitely make sure to point out my error when the content is made. Other than that, I hope you enjoyed the content, and thanks for watching 🤙
In answer to your woobie question, it came out in vietnam war , by a politition who coined this termanology, most who served, dont use it. Being hinacked by civilians. There are two forms of poncho blanket one the inner one claggs on the inned side orf the poncho. Then the camlshield blanket clavgs on to the outside of the poncho, this is mucb thicker tvan the inner version. Madd by usgi industries. Most nato forces have something simular.
Is the term “woobie” childish? Perhaps. I’d like to point out that you lot call French toast “eggy bread” and pressurized whipped cream “squirty cream”. That aside, I enjoyed the review and I love my Jungle Blanket. I own several pieces of Snugpak kit and they’re all quality. Cheers.
Oh seriously? Wow, before I got into this sort of stuff and started reading up about them, I'd only ever heard folks form the US refer to them as woobies. I have some UK Armed Forces buddies that call them woobies but they got the name from US forces friends. That's interesting
Good piece of kit, great for summer camping, I've used as an underblanket for the hammock, use some bungy cord to tie off both ends, under the hammock. Even around the house, in winter. Have both sizes, find the XL more useful, as the standard not large enough for me, good on the floor of a tent to insulate you from the ground, only downside is that if out on a multi day camp, where you would have a fire and it is wet, is that a woolen blanket can be dried safely close to a fire, where synthetics cant. Snugpack missing a trick here, as if they did one in girly colours, they would sell to women, for around the home, chicks dig it, but not the colours. th-cam.com/video/ejMeX57H43k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=C3LAmt_IOonWBuFW
Hi, yes, that's what I love about the comments section. I always though it was simply a blanket. I've definitely been schooled. Thanks for the heads up
Sorry, no thanks. The Snugpak "jungle blanket" I purchased is a rag of low quality and a useless POS. I use it for my cat's bedding. There are other products on the market that are lower cost and higher quality. Same goes for the leaky, delicate, pos tent they call the "Ionosphere". High priced low quality crap defines the brand, from my experience.
I had the same experience. Everything I ever tried from Snugpak has been sent back with quality issues. 3 different sleeping bags, 4 yrs later the jungle bag, and a tent, all low quality with bad QC...

Apart from receiving the products, I don't ask for any money from anybody I work with as I don't want to feel I have to review favourably
Have a look through the comments here, hopefully you'll see lots of others who also love these blankets.
It offers advice back to the manufactures on future updates, and gives an idea to future purchasers that I'd possibly change things, and whether or not they'd agree that's something they can then choose is a positive or negative
I appreciate you might have decided my choice to add to the end of the video has been done for some nefarious seasons, however I can assure it's not.
If it pleases you, from now on, I'll add a note to every piece of content and the product was sent to me, and then as usual, thank the manufacturers at the end
Hope you're having a good day too buddy 👍
New subscriber here, would this be ok for UK autumn / winter season?
Yes definitely for taking the chill away. You'd still definitely need a nice sleeping bag though
@@MoorlanderEDC thanks, not using it for sleeping, just for chilling out on a groundsheet, under a tarp and having a cook out in the forest with the fam 👍
@@anonymous4201 aaaaah, yes, you'll love this 🤙
Don't know where woobie comes from. We call it a poncho liner. Works just as well at a fraction of the price. Cheers.
I wonder if I can get a Woobie hoodie made out of one
There's lots of companies out there making woobie hoodies. They're on my list to check out
@@MoorlanderEDC I'd recommend Perseverance Survival, I'm really amazed by how warm a very thin lightweight jacket can be
@@geoffdymond9754 Thanks for the heads up. I'll check them out. I'd been looking at this German company. They look very similar - patch-control.com/en
@@MoorlanderEDC my poor poor wallet
Just get an issue softy suit jacket they are great, the softy trousers are great too.
Would like a good summer sleeping bag?? How warm is it???
I've seen people mod these with velcro to use as a sleeping bag cover to add an extra season to a lighter bag
Haven't come across NRC before.
@@rafalk5709 aaaaaaah... Right, I get you. Not come across that name before. Thanks for the heads up. Yes, much prefer these. From personal use use them as a pillow has helped lots of times. They aren't as noisy either
“They gained the nickname "woobie" later; that term is conjectured to have derived from the name for a child's security blanket in the 1983 movie Mr. Mom.”
Yup, Michael Keaton film "Mr. Mom". Very Funny movie.
(Other definition what I found was "Any object, typically a blanket, garment or stuffed animal, that is used simply for its comforting characteristics; a security blanket.")
I'm sorry to break your dreams about the name, maybe there is another version of it somewhere, like "it was named named in his honor after the mighty John James Woobie who led the famous unit of Woobie's Raiders in the frontier who were known for ambushing their opponents with blankets" ;-)
Woobie - If you don't use one, you "would be" cold hence "woobie". Ta da..! Could it be that being short that Moorlander are related to Hobbits.? Taking your clothes off in the woods do leave a question mark on the simple farmer's mind. So....have we actually found "The Flasher of Moorland".? We are intrigue with the woobie, atleast now we know what a Jungle Blanket is. You're just full of info matey. Cheers from Australia.
Answer of the day. In my capacity as the 624 Crowned Monarch of the Kingdom of the Moorlander I doth thee the title of honorary Court Oracle 🍻🖖
Hobbits are distant relatives to the people of the Moorlands. Over the centuries we've got taller and less plumb, however we still have feet that can walk on fresh snow with out the need for snowshoes. We can sneak up on a badger walking across broken glass, autumn leaves and potatoes crisps without being detected. The term Ninja comes from the Japanese for Moorlander #NothingButFacts
Yeah, there's plenty of times I'm be looking at some trousers where I have them, then need to switch into them for B roll footage.
Yes to all of the above. Sir, you're now above the law. Use your power responsibily 🤜🤛
Subbed
No snaps, grommets or zippers! How is that better?
Cheers.
As an American- I've never heard anyone use the word "Woobie".
Oh seriously? Wow, before I got into this sort of stuff and started reading up about them, I'd only ever heard folks form the US refer to them as woobies. I have some UK Armed Forces buddies that call them woobies but they got the name from US forces friends. That's interesting
@@MoorlanderEDC It could be one of the branches. I did the Navy thing- maybe the Army or Air Force uses the term.
Get it wrapped right round ye
Exactly 😆🖖
It's called a Woobie because without it you would-be [ woobie ] cold ! ! !
Love it
You" woobie "cold without them
I think that's not a woobie, woobies can become an inner poncho liner!!!
Hi, yes, that's what I love about the comments section. I always though it was simply a blanket. I've definitely been schooled. Thanks for the heads up
We called them poncho liners and not woobies...back when soldiers were men that is,
Yes, I learned that with this content. Love the comments section
Sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing
I had the same experience. Everything I ever tried from Snugpak has been sent back with quality issues. 3 different sleeping bags, 4 yrs later the jungle bag, and a tent, all low quality with bad QC...
Snugpak are terrible, I agree, their “premium” bags are shocking when compared to other brands. Had so many issues with their products.
