Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English and Swedish. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Why Angelina always performs barefoot: At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Yeah 14 here. Unreal song, written and performed. A song about loss anyone can relate to and use, her Grandfather in this case for her. This and 7th heaven heaven at 15, her two originals under republic. It sounds like they won't be on the album if you read into what they said. Which means it is time to turn the page. The songs are unreal, deserving, but they must want to be like 'here is the line, and here is adult big label career time Angelina.' Those aren't done all by herself at all, she just is just the boss with many great people and resources is the impression they give. Lots worked on her two Republic Originals. Even veteran writers worked with her I was told. You absolutely must see the other, 7th heaven. Besides "Above The Water", a straight ahead EDM song.; AJ performed with Allan Walker in a live stream when he re-arranged his electronic music for a live orchestra. She did this at age 10 and performed wonderfully despite having a cold during the show. Even when not at peak health it only seems to add emotional expressionto her performances. She did "I'll be There" at a slightly younger age for a charity event where she could hardly sing with a cold and gave the most moving performance I have ever seen. AJ is a real trooper as well as tremendously gifted.

I think she was 15 here. If you liked this one, you need to see her sing this at her Norwegian concert last summer at age 16. She did 4 concerts there. Angelina´s paternal grandfather died in 2018 and she sang, I think, 3 tributes for him, one where she broke down crying. In November 2019, shortly after RECORDING AGT 2020, her maternal, japanese, grandfather passed away after a long and painful battle again an enemy we know all. Afterwards she wrote this song for him. You are right TYLR (Tyler?) - this is an incredible song, and an incredible performance for any age; but for 14 years old! Mindblowing - and yet for AJ, this is normality. I hope that they include this song on the forthcoming album. Unfortunately, this particular arrangement was made just before she signed for Republic Records, so it would not be the same arrangement as this.
Maybe the synth pad refers to drops or pops of empty bubbles? I think the more sparse black and white studio version brings out more from just a piano and cello.

You need to listen to TRXD's Above The Water they are a Norwegen EDM group with no vocalist but get a vocalist for each song they produce and this particular song has AJ singing it.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet.
Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English and Swedish.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally.
Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot:
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.”
Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world.
The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old.
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
Angelina had become a star in her native Norway, including being named a national treasure, and her videos on TH-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old.
In December 2014, Angelina realized a life long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration.
Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14.
A 9 years and 2 months old, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs.
At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a TH-cam video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances.
When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident.
On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year.
During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each.
In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT that contractually bound her to Simon or AGT.
Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original.

The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager.
Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her.
In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.

Yeah 14 here. Unreal song, written and performed. A song about loss anyone can relate to and use, her Grandfather in this case for her. This and 7th heaven heaven at 15, her two originals under republic. It sounds like they won't be on the album if you read into what they said. Which means it is time to turn the page. The songs are unreal, deserving, but they must want to be like 'here is the line, and here is adult big label career time Angelina.' Those aren't done all by herself at all, she just is just the boss with many great people and resources is the impression they give. Lots worked on her two Republic Originals. Even veteran writers worked with her I was told. You absolutely must see the other, 7th heaven. All we'll know for sure is a list of names, and that for certain she maintains a level of creative control and had her hands on all of it. Angelina releases her new official single from Republic Records this week on May 5th. The preview video online shows a retro 1960s vibe with a snappy beat, but that's all we know at this point. Besides "Above The Water", a straight ahead EDM song.; AJ performed with Allan Walker in a live stream when he re-arranged his electronic music for a live orchestra. She did this at age 10 and performed wonderfully despite having a cold during the show. Even when not at peak health it only seems to add emotional expressionto her performances. She did "I'll be There" at a slightly younger age for a charity event where she could hardly sing with a cold and gave the most moving performance I have ever seen. AJ is a real trooper as well as tremendously gifted.

I think she was 15 here. If you liked this one, you need to see her sing this at her Norwegian concert last summer at age 16. She did 4 concerts there. A live studio recording was the second official production shot in the LA studio for Republic Records. She wrote this song about her grandfather's passing in 2018, at the age of 12. Co-starring with Angelina was her little sister, Juliette, who was 6 when their grandfather died and 8 when this music video was released. Juliette has also appeared in two other performances, Suspicious Minds and Valerie, this last shot at Venice Beach, CA.

Hi Christian, excuse me please, I want to state a few facts as I know them, so NO TROLLING. Angelina´s paternal grandfather died in 2018 and she sang, I think, 3 tributes for him, one where she broke down crying. In November 2019, shortly after RECORDING AGT 2020, her maternal, japanese, grandfather passed away after a long and painful battle again an enemy we know all. Afterwards she wrote this song for him.

You are right TYLR (Tyler?) - this is an incredible song, and an incredible performance for any age; but for 14 years old! Mindblowing - and yet for AJ, this is normality. I hope that they include this song on the forthcoming album. Unfortunately, this particular arrangement was made just before she signed for Republic Records, so it would not be the same arrangement as this.
